Not to mention it helps keep things from becoming take-down, pin against cage, pound for a while; which gets boring by the fourth fight of the night lol.

Breaking it up into rounds tends to rescue someone from a bad situation and tempts stalling. When it doesn't end until YOU end it, people tend to run more exciting and technical fights.

Then again, that doesn't make for easy scheduling, fan friendly pace, or tradition-friendly setup. For some reason people seem to place boxing up as the goal for safety. I would never box competitively. I like my brain.
