In the studio version, there's this whispered conversation. "Surprise me..." What is that all about? Were did it come from? What does it refer to? Creepy!
in case you haven't found it yet, In Your Room, released last year, was a remastered version of all of Yazoo's album tracks plus some B sides and other bits and pieces. Great value for completists like myself and it includes this plus the fabulous Tuesday, which is in a similar vein. HTH
I love this song. beautiful yet sad. yes, Lreveen, emo, but utterly lovely. there is hope when someone can produce something as gorgeous as this even if it is negative. not very emo actually.
Well done. I like the 'camembert clock' dream sequence. Yazoo featured a great deal in my youth. Your imagery of this tune seems to fit nicely with that memory. Cheers!
This has always been one of my favorite tracks, ever since on bought the original 'Upstairs at Erics' on vinal... Excellent video that totally suits this track.. Very well done!! Mega...
now that i hear it - i also hear the melody in robocop. when he's trying to remember his wife and kid and is having flashbacks and that nostalgic feeling in his old house but isn't quite making the connection......
i remember this when i was a teen and i was dark adn depressed. i would listen to this on my sony am/fm walkman. haha. just made me more depressed cause the girl i wanted to be with didn't like me.
now i'm alright and she had a chemical imbalance...... how things turn out..
Ive listened to hundreds of songs and it doesnt come any more haunting than this. Listen to the original in the dark with all the accustics, very moving.

This is stark as winter, the vacuum that is left from a relationship that has ended, the chill that envelops in being alone.

The video fitted perfectly with this moving song by Alison Moyet of Yazoo.
For any fans like myself, you will find this song on The Best of Yaz album.

The video is sinister; the music is melancholy; the words are a chilling reminder.

The piano is actualy taken from Haydn's 59th sonata. i think so atleast
fandino123 3 years ago
No - you're wrong. Listen pls to H No 59th so again. The song is definietly inspired by Haydn's piece, but not "taken from".
That makes difference.
