that white ring on your turtles shell is an infection (as is all the strings of bacteria growing off his face) this is still not big enough. they need 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle. so im guessing at 4 inches each you need 120 gallons. also - the shells pointed angle means you are feeding them incorrectly. do you feed them meat constantly? pls just google correct care.
I have 6 RES. Some of them are quite small while small are very big. Should i place them together? Cause when i put them together, they tend to bite each other and squash one another.. Any advice?
I agree with the comments about the pipe but if they haven't gotten stuck so far then they will most likely out grow the hole before they do, so they wont be able to fit in it anyway.
I would agree that its just taking up swimming room!
The bigger tank is definately better than what they had before. But, for 3 turtles, it should be even bigger yet! Good job on the bigger tank though! They look like they love it!
Its when you overfeed/improper diet. The turtles shell should have a smooth feel to it. Notice his turtles have bumps to the shell. If continued feeding that way The turtle shell on each scute will basically get a pyramid look to it. Type pyraminding in google second link for really bad cases
Your turtles are adorable! I just have 2 tips, 1) Please remove the pipe. 2) They REALLY need to be checked by a Veterinarian for pyramiding before it gets any worse!
It is when the plates of the shell are not smooth, they start to actually look like an up-side-down cone, or a pyramid. It typically results from a poor variety in the diets. Try googling 'diet for RES' and check on other foods to supplement what they are getting now. Turtles do need to eat veggies as well as proteins like fish/meat.
o well i dont c it in these turtles, hey u got any ideas on how to make a turtle tank? (improve it, decorations, filtration, and food, medicine?) i have a vid on youtube showing the stuff i got 4 my turtles check it out and tell me if they are healthy plz
@TheCptnSQUASH If they see something in the pipe and they go in then their shell could get stuck and the could drown. Turtles dont have gills. They can drown. Sleeping is voluntary. Getting stuck isnt. Face the facts.
@RICHxWHITExKIDxy38 yes sleeping voluntary yes they do not have gills But they get air through their shell aka oxygen in water gets sucked into shell then put in the blood stream....they can drown by voluntarily breathing in the water the pvc pipe should be removed for more swimming room and it really has no point being there.......thumbs up on your comment though
@RICHxWHITExKIDxy38 you said water doesnt have infinite oxegen. kinda implying that res take oxegen out of water and that it would run out. it doesnt matter how much oxegen the water has. the res cant use it.
@RICHxWHITExKIDxy38 hmm i see what you mean. im also not arguing :) thats true about the air bubble, but i thought that air comes from him rather than oxygen from the water. i really would be suprised to hear that an animal without gills could take in oxygen from water. any expert here wanna clear this up for us?
@Tibialmario Haha yeah I'm not to sure about that. What I was saying was, say the turtle got stuck in there and fell asleep for some reason. Turtle wakes up and air bubble pops. Its stuck and your not around. I tthink it would drown? Also the pipe takes up a lot of swimming room. But yeah, anyone wanna clarify what would happen?
