Sucks for the first girl. No one was acting like she was drop dead gorgeous like they did with the blonde. That prob just made her feel even worse about herself then
Cheyenne looks vey confident for having that disease, no? She looks him in the eyes and smiles big, the first girl looked down the ground as you would understand since she's in bright light and on a stage :O
This is the problem with the DSM in general. Many disorders have such strict criteria that many people fall within subthreshold levels - so technically they can't be diagnosed. It's very frustrating for those seeking treatment. However, I don't think that people should take these titles so seriously... to not fall 100% in the BDD does not mean that you should not seek treatment. Frequently this is just a sign that the full blown BDD will eventually develop, so take steps toward prevention!
I dont think its fair he's sayin she doesnt have bdd because shes been in beauty pageants when she grew up being in beauty pageants since she was 3. that doesnt mean its impossible for her to develop bdd. if going out infront of people and being judged meant you dont really have bdd then cheyenne doesnt have bdd either cuz how did she muster up the courage to go on national television when she couldnt get herself to leave her house for 2 years. sometimes I just think dr phils logic is flawed
I was just diagnosed with Body Dysmorphia over the summer. I am 15 and I don't like I am ugly but I think I am fat. I am not anorexic but I do watch what I eat alllll the time and I excerise a lot. Also while I am eating sometimes, my brain will tell me that my stomache hurts so I will stop eating. That also has to do with my anxiety. I mean, I would like to change somethings about my face, but doesn't everyone? I take a long time to get ready in the morning because I just want to look perfect.
Actually the way she picks herself apart is actually insulting to others. I hate alot of things about myself but damn I don't get that detailed about it , if I did I'd be insane and probably suicidal. I have a sister who actually is darn near perfect in my eyes and she pick her self apart so much that it has made me very insecure. I don't understand people who really don't really have anything to be upset about. I guess it really is a diease, that's the only thing I can wrap my head around.
Wow, if these girls think that they are ugly when they look in the mirror, then i'm a monster! I have total body and facial hang ups, but I don't say it's BDD because I can cope. I have to, I have to work and survive. But yes, I don't go out too much because I don't like how I look. I've had surgery and wish to have more when I save up money. I cry alot because I realistically will never look how this girl looks! They both have perfect bodies, I'd only dream to look like them! Very depressing.
I hate when beautiful girls call themselves fat and ugly. I am actually overweight according to my doctor and it bothers me so much when all my skinny friends call themselves fat when I wish I looked like them.
Hey stop putting her down! Don't you think she gets that enough? She's not faking!! I would know. I'm like her. I don't know that I necessarily have body dysmorphic disorder but I am concerned with my appearance 24/7 and how to change it. So she's not faking. You just need to back off! When I look at her though, I see a GORGEOUS girl and I'm not lying. I would give anything to look like her! And some people probably think I'm gorgeous when they look at me, but I can't see it.
For all of those who say Cheyanne is a fake, you have not done research. Most sufferers ARE attractive, and have previous conditions already existing, and do those things to see if there is a GLIMMER of hope, that they will see what others see. To have a glimmer of hope, that they will suffer a little less.
@AutumnTheHairStylist I agree that beautiful people can have BDD. Most of the people here aren't arguing that Cheyenne must be faking because of how she looks. They're arguing that a person with BDD does not act the way Cheyenne does. They aren't this comfortable on national television, and they certainly do not do beauty pageants.
i know plenty of girls that spend 3 hours in the morning getting ready.. doesnt mean they have BDD.. this is just another attention seeker who wants to go through life based on her looks
BDD is a real thing. Beauty pageants should not be. Those pageants are harming her, but they're not giving her BDD. They're just making her fish for compliments and adoration constantly.
i dont think she has bdd...shes a victim of constant judgment... because shes so pretty and people tell her...she focuses on looks alot more than the average person and she goes to an impossible high standard....shes like a perfectionist
after watching this whole thing.. the blonde girls just an attention whore. haha.if she had bdd she wouldnt have gotten up on stage at a pageant show and talk about her mental illness.someone with that illness wouldnt really want people looking at them or are too depressed.when i was fourteen i would use knives and push the bridge of my nose in untill it looked like the bump on my nose was flatter.. my nose is now broken because i hated my self so muchi didnt care about how much it hurt...
also bdd can sometimes be confused with ocd.because your constantly obsessed and always try to fix yourself with daily routines because your afraid or think your ugly. or think that youll become ugly.
i have bdd and it really sucks.i can def tell you some stories. and idk how someone with bdd would do pageants if they actually had bdd. its actually different for everyone though. maybe she did pageants to help her confidence?idk i know ive been in and out of therapy and mental hospitals for so many years i know that everyone whos going through the same mental problem is somewhat different.
hahahahaha I find it funny that she came to dr. phil thinking she would get "special treatment" for being a BDD sufferer when in truth she only got told she didn't have BDD and was nothing but an attention whore. LOLOLOL
I agree I don't think she has bdd. I think she has attention issues, but other than that nothing. The first girl yes does have it even though she is so pretty, but not chayenne
Well I think she's beautiful, and if this girl happens to read this, I have this to say to you. GET OVER IT. Do you know how many girls wish they could look like you? Do you know how many girls are not as beautiful as you are, yet still can accept themselves? Do you realize that most guys find a girl who accepts themselves for who they are, more attractive than a pretty yet insecure girl? I mean, get over it. Stop identifying so much with your body, and identify with your mind and your heart!
@JohnJancar would you tell an alcoholic or anorexic to get over it?and expect that to work?If that girl has BDD she will not be getting over anything until she enages inthe proper treatment.I honestly cant see how anyone with the disorder would even appear on a show like this.
@scarred10 Yea I would say get over it. I hate to be so mean, but these type of people are just vain weaklings. It has to be said. I know girls not half as pretty as these girls, and they still can manage to accept themselves, so why can't they? Where is the will, where is the strength? If everybody went and judged themselves based on some impossible criteria like these girls do, everyone would be miserable like them. The body is not what's important, it's what inside that matters.
@JohnJancar BDD has nothing to do with vanity(if they have it and id have doubts about the blond),theres no pride involved, they feel great shame about what they see as deformity and the anxiety experienced is tremendous. It also has nothing to do with how someone looks objectively.Normal people would never think like them, its a diagnosed mental ilness with a history back 200 yrs and lots of research to back it up.Willpower isnt effective for these things,it cant be relied upon .
@scarred10 Go look up the definition of vanity. And don't give me this nonsense that they are just mentally ill, or are genetically predisposed to thinking this way, just utter nonsense. These people can't love themselves for who they are, that's the problem. They have some unrealistic idea of perfection, that they aren't living up to, and they judge themselves for it. That is a spiritual problem, not a genetic problem. They need to stop judging themselves, and accept themselves for who they are
@JohnJancar people with BDD are repulsed by their appearance, they only want to look normal (in their mind). They dont want perfection ,they want normality.Since these disordered perceptions and beliefs destroy their lives,by definition thats a mental illness.Unless youre a complete retard youd know that all behavior is genetic plus envornmentally determined.Nobody would suggest any mental illness was entirely genetic. Its a psychological problem ,not spiritual.
@scarred10 It's a psychological problem, and a spiritual problem. They have a problem with their mind and heart, not their DNA. I mean, get real. Sure genetics can have an effect on the mind and heart, sure the environment can effect weak willed people, but ultimately, its YOUR CHOICE how you feel about yourself. These people need to take responsibility for themselves, and stop looking for outside things to explain why THEY DON'T LIKE THEMSELVES. They need to dig within and find their peace.
@JohnJancar its not anybodys choice how they feel, its their choice how they behave when they feel a certain way. There is neither spirit or heart, that realm is entirely neuropsychological, what you think is spirit is just the mind.sO Now you agree its partly genetic.willpower has virtually no effect on the course of mental illness, its not strong enough.Your addvice is too simplistic and never has worked in the history of mental illness.
@scarred10 This all boils down to the simple concept of...do I create my reality, or does my reality create me? The fact of life is, we can create our reality, OR...we can let reality mold us. I have never been one to let life mold me, or define who I am....I DEFINE WHO I AM. I am responsible for my life. If I am too vain, or too ignorant, that is my responsibility, I don't blame anything but myself. I am a creator, I have the power, my creations are my responsibility.
@JohnJancar vanity and ignorance arent mental illnesses,BDD can be a very severe one.Nobody with that can just decise to change themselves, they need therapy and sometimes hospital. They firstly wont even know theres anything wrong with their thinking,it can be a full on illusion. You are talking about self improvemnt ,not mental illness, thats not to say it doesnt take tremendous perseverence and commitment to effective therapy,it does but those things without the right treatment wont do anything.
@scarred10 So you can sit there, and spout about how life creates you, you are at the whim of everything outside of you, of genetics, of society, like millions of people have allowed themselves to be....all because of a lack of will, a lack of personal responsibility, and a lack of understanding the nature of how we create our lives...but I'M NOT GOING TO DO IT. I create my life, my problems are my responsibility, I don't blame society or anything else, if I want my life to change, I change it!
@JohnJancar youre misunderstanding, the entire therapy philosophy is based on changing our beliefs ,attitudes and behaiour and thus our life BUT genetics combined with learning via experience is what creates mental illness, sometimes its all environment.Accepting that behaviour is the product of genes /environment doesnt mean were powerless.
@scarred10 See this is what happens when you forget about your spirit within. This is what happens when you are brainwashed by the society to ignore the spiritual, and focus only on the physical. Blaming genetics, or society, for how YOU feel about yourself, is shifting your responsibility. It's looking for a scapegoat outside of you, when you need to look within your heart to find out what's wrong with you and why you're so vain. They need to make peace with their physical body, and move on.
@JohnJancar there is no need for any spiritualism in society. These people are overvaluing appearance and have distorted perception of reality, thats not changeable by praying, only by evidence based treatment
@scarred10 Yea, you clearly are living in an illusion. You have no inkling of the spiritual nature of reality, and rely solely on the physical to explain things which has their cause within, like BDD. Oh it's genetics! My foot it's genetics, and no rational person would say it's a genetic problem. They need to love and accept themselves for who they are. It doesn't take prayer or religion to understand spiritual things, just a knowing of yourself, within. You, my friend, need to study more
@JohnJancar understanding yourself is psychology ,not spiritualism, you seem to be talking about a personal philosophy which isnt spiritualism either.I might point out that nothing beyond the physical has ever been shown to exist anywhere.Every educated rational person knows that all human behaviour is both genetics and learning based and that includes all know disorders.
@scarred10 Oh nothing exists beyond the physical, sure lol What you don't know, of course, is I've experienced first hand "life beyond the physical" and this isn't about religion. You keep living in your illusions. I bet you're also the type of person who doesn't take responsibility for yourself, I bet you blame all your problems on other people, all your feelings on things outside of your self. And your SELF is not your BODY, your self is your spirit within which animates your body.
@JohnJancar ok ,now I see the problem ,you think that there is something other than a physical brain inside a person.Well there is not a shred of evidence otherwise.A persons experience isnt necessarily reality.Your brain and nervous system animates your body, spirit implies a set of beliefs about afterlife which clearly isnt possible.Every single sensation and emotion you feel originates from physical events in your brain, what you call heart is brain activity.Obviously the brain is yourself.
This honestly sounds like a gimmick to make her stand out in her beauty pageants. Plus, sure, I'm no psychologist, but I can't understand how anyone with BDD would admit that they were "objectively" attractive.
honestly.....if you're willing to participate in beauty pageants, you probably don't feel that bad about how you look, and like the doctor said.....caring a lot about how you look doesn't mean you have bdd
@ghostbird92 i do have BDD and way worse than these 2 and have a degree in psychology.I cannot disagree that appearing in beauty pageants would be impossible for anyone with BDD unless it was very mild and intermittent. This looks like a misdiagnosis.
if for people who have BDD it's like looking through a filter or whatever but they cannot see themselves the way others see them, yet they can see other people and consider them pretty then what would it be like for them if they look at pictures of themselves and others?? would that change their perception in any way??
"I have absolutely no idea how she's able to get up there and do pageants and do as well as she does when she suffers from this disorder." Because she's faking it.
I haven't watched the video properly but think how can you dare judge how someone is feeling on the outside?Maybe she does have BDD you don't know, yeh she entered beauty pageants but maybe she done it for reassurance purposes.
@scarred10 Yes I understand fully what you're saying,I wasn't having a go at anyone just stating a mere fact you can't comment on how someone else is really feeling unless you walk in their shoes.Anyway I am a sufferer of BDD and I hardly doubt I could consider myself entering a pageant or anything of some sort in relation. But still I'll leave it at that as I stated I haven't watched the video so wont make a proper comment on it just to clear the air thanks.
Hahahahaha I'm sorry, but, as a sufferer of BDD, I can tell you that Cheyenne DOES NOT have it. There is no way in hell that a person who has a fucking mental DISORDER that makes them see themselves as hideous could get in front of crowds and be JUDGED ON THEIR APPEARANCE. She does pageants for fucks sake, no one with BDD would willingly put themselves out their and go through that type of competition.
@danielefsot I don't want to sound conceited (because I am certainly not), but the only way that I can answer this question is by saying that I can't answer it. Of course I see myself as ugly, but many people have told me that I am gorgeous and strikingly beautiful. I've been told that I can have any guy I wanted if I wasn't so reserved. A lot of people say these things, but the problem with having BDD is that you can't believe it.
@browntea121 ofcourse I do not understand and can not empathize with BDD because it is something foreign to me but I trust you that it is really a problem for you. Iam 50 year old man never married largly because of problem I had, namely that when I was 3 I saw a horrifying incident and it caused an emotional void in me breaking my spirit and after I could not talk without severe stuttering and contorting my face to speak, ...continued
@brownteal21 my third post to you.....yes you could probably have any guy you wanted but there is only one guy out there that is good for you....and while good looks seem to be advantage in this world what is real is a beauty inside that will deal with day to day problems in life. The day made up of hours, the hours made up of minutes, the minutes made up of seconds and the seconds made up of moments by moments in which we have our being looking into that mirror and we take one step forward.....
@danielefsot Also, I didn't post a picture because, well, I don't take them. That's another thing about my BDD. I haven't taken a picture in years. I don't have pictures of me on Facebook, either. That's just how it goes.
@brownteal21 but at 24 I had spiritual experience and Jesus literally in 1 hour took my speech problem away---my parents were stunned...I was elated with glorious joy like a freed prisioner....and so I hpoe the same for you that Gods love will change you from inside out.....anyway thats my hope.
Disorder, my ass. Noone with this disorder would be involved in beauy pageants and seek out attention; attention would be the last thing they seek. They would avoid attention being drawn to themselves as much as possible.
@Cheyenne21890 hey Cheyenne (if its real you) listen... its a youtube comment box so its a place to share your opinion (comments) with others... so what are you talking about? I wasnt rude or anything.... A lot of people compared you to the other girl that was on the show and she just seems more genuine. I also posted a comment about how I think pretty you are. why didnt you reply to that? and why are you sitting here reading all this stuff about yourself anyways? just curious. take care..
@idig Yes it really is me, and I didn't respond to your other comment because I don't want to be complimented, I don't believe them anyway. And I read in on this stuff because Dr. Phil used me on his show, twisted things around, and made me look like a stuck up little liar so he could get good ratings. I've been diagnosed by 3 seperate specialists... It's hard to fake a 650 question personality test and 8+ hours of evaluation by a doctor whose area of expertise is BDD. I'm defending myself.
@Cheyenne21890 everyone needs to get off your damn case. I don't understand how they can say you're "fake" when they don't even know you and are only going by what they see on the show. What Dr.Phil said was fucked up. You obviously have BDD. They shouldn't be trying to belittle your problem just because you can do pageants and have confidence at times. Anyone can wear a mask and pretend to be confident if they feel it's necessary or worth it. It's very obvious that you have a problem.
@zombieeatslollipop I appreciate that, the comments on here, like yours, are the ones that make the others seem insignificant. People are just too ignorant to understand what it's like, especially those who don't know me at all.
@Cheyenne21890 I had a horrible eating disorder a year ago. Well it lasted two years...i worded that weird hahaha. I was bulimic at first and would just stare in the mirror and pick at my face and pinch my body. I would still go out and socialize though, however I was wearing a mask I had been taught to wear. Inside I still felt hideous. There was a point where I was too ashamed to go out in public because of how thin I had gotten. But I know where you're coming from. You're very welcome :)
@Cheyenne21890 I hope you get better! Im sorry you have to see what some people are writing here cause its pretty harsh. I don't think you're faking this, and i don't think its right for anyone to judge that you would be faking because they don't know you and if you see your body as not what it is then well, theres no avoiding that single fact.
@SkateAndCheerGirl Why do you believe this girl? Who the hell with BDD go online youtube a video of themself to defend themself with their own photo showing off their own face as their youtube profiile pic etc. etc. etc.? ugh....the girl doesnt have BDD, shes making shit up. Maybe low self esteem though.
@Cheyenne21890 im actually training to be a clinical pysch and have suffered from BDD myself for 21 yrs but am much improved now. However, there is no such thing as a 650 question test for anything, nevermind pesonality. Also,,also no bdd eval takes 8 hours, its a clinical interview and simple questionaire, the symptoms are blatantly obvious.
@Cheyenne21890 It's sad that you pretented to have BDD just to get on this show. You took attention away from the people who actually have this disorder.
@FrigidArtic It's sad that you're one of those ignorant people who thinks Dr. Phil must only tell the truth. Nobody understands how incredibly manipulative and misleading he is until they've been the victim of his bs. "People who actually have this disorder" ACTUALLY includes me, considering I've been evaluated and diagnosed by 3 specialists. Thank you though.
The way she smilled happily when dr Phil gave her compliments about her childhood photo... I don't know. She seems too happy with compliments to have classic BDD.
these ppl look better than what we would consider as "average looking" and yet, they think they look ugly?! Maybe its because they're so pretty and there are not that many people who are as pretty as them that they end up standing out more...so they think they don't fit in with how the majority of ppl look because they look better than they do......i guess its a case of you are too pretty till you feel ugly cause no one else is as pretty as you are and you don't fit i with the other ppl.
I'm not being nasty but I think Chayenne might just be an attention whore, BDD people tend to stay indoors and feel ashamed. It's such a shame because obviously Diana is a genuine sufferer of BDD, that probably stems from a traumatic childhood experience, not only being abused but having your family call you a liar.
@TheVideoCat Dear "TheVideoCat" here's my compassionate advice: You're the idiot. You don't even spell my name correctly but you want to call me an idiot? I know people who are disfigured, it does not affect the way I see myself. And, FYI I know how to draw, I've won art shows. Typically, you don't get 5 seconds and a magic marker the size of a hairbrush handle to do it though.
A lot of people with mental disorders are debilitated, however some on the other hand put on an act to be that 'perfect' person. They can be perfectionists and that's what Cheyenne seems like to me.
I have BDD and there is so way in fucking hell I would ever go on TV. I stay away from relationships with guys and don't hang out with my friends because I don't want people to see me. I'm always inside the house. In class and in the lunch room I sit in one place and try not to walk around because I don't want people to see me. I've become pretty good at being invisible but there are some places it's impossible to hide, like on TV
i understand this blonde girl...People dont be so ignornant.i think in her head she is going to beauty peagents because others say shes beautiful and she somehow iside her tries to convince herself about that too ...wich is good because ,its shows she wants to recover from it ,instead of trying to kill herself 4 times.
@LeeliaL I'm glad that you were able to understand where I was coming from. I do have BDD, but I also have the courage to stand up and extend a hand to help the people around me who are suffering from the same thing. I lived completely in the dark about this disorder for years until a girl like me had the courage to speak up in Seventeen magazine. My story began the day I read her article and I couldn't possibly thank her enough for what she did.
@Independentness It's very real. BDD is a very serious psychological disorder that roughly 2% or the population in the United States alone suffer from. I, now 21, have suffered from the disorder since I was 12. I've been diagnosed by more than one professional, including the expert, Dr. Ari Winograd, who was featured on this show.
@MzVodery You are entitled to your own opinion, however, you do not know me, or probably any real information about the disorder I suffer from. Dr. Phil is not an expert on the disorder, which is why I was sent to the one on the show, Dr. Ari Winograd, after the show aird and diagnosed for the 2nd time with BDD. So thanks for your opinion, but I'm not full of shit.
tell me more bout BDD , I am very curious and I am wanting to earn more . thanks. I am suffering from other mental disorders which are similar and co-morbid with BDD. and i think i would love to learn more so i could better understand BDD. thanks you can message me whenever.
@camandhayley BDD doesn't affect my perception of other people, beautiful people are still beautiful, average people are still average. It only affects the way I percieve myself and my own flaws.
The girl with the brown hair is so beutiful but the blonde one shes not that good looking why is she going in peagents ? she does not have bdd you dont wanna show yourself when you have this i know that for sure.
@ingaarnad You don't know me or anything about my personal struggle with BDD. I had courage to stand up in front of a crowd so that I could spread awareness of the disorder and help other people who are suffering from the same thing. I've been diagnosed by multiple doctors, one being the specialist seen on the show, Dr. Ari Winograd, who I spent hours with in January 2008 after the show aired.
@DragonFly122 We aren't sympathy seekers. My mother has nothing to do with my disorder. It is psychological and not something I want sympathy for at all. I simply want to help raise awareness of the disorder through my own story because to many people like me are commiting suicide.
@DragonFly122 Which is exactly why you have no idea what you're talking about. I hate it when people say things like that to me, so going on the show sure as hell wasn't a way to seek attention.
@Cheyenne21890 "going on the show sure as hell wasn't a way to seek attention"
Despite that statement, you sure like to ham it up for the cameras (I've seen the facebook pictures and that spark in your eye at 1:45). I don't think you need to use pageants to spread BDD awareness (I heard about the disorder from a magazine article in 2003).
@DragonFly122 Everyone puts pictures on FB, it's part of maintaining an account. That so called "spark" in my eye is called lighting, most shows tend to use it & most photographs have flash. I also first heard about BDD in a magazine and that's why I consulted a doctor. What you don't seem to understand is that not everyone who has BDD feels the need to lock him/herself in a dark room forever. Some people are able to think logically & realize what they see isn't what is reality.
@Cheyenne21890 " Some people are able to think logically & realize what they see isn't what is reality."
Um no. People with BDD cannot think logically about their looks. That's one of the main parts of the disease. Maybe you have a slight issue with your nose or your weight, but you do not have BDD. There is no way in hell that you would be doing pageants if you had the disorder. People that get up on that stage are not people that are lacking any self confidence.
@FrigidArtic Michael Jackson suffered from BDD, did anyone tell him "you don't have BDD because you're famous and sing on stage in front of thousands of people?" No... I've only done 2 pageants since being diagnosed with BDD as a platform and how it affects people. It's not a disorder that a lot of people have been aware of until the last few years. Plenty of people with it are starting to come forward. Unfortunately for most, they've butchered themselves with plastic surgery.
@EmDoz1 You should also know then, that I was referred to the specialist on the show, Dr. Ari Winograd, shortly after this show aired and was flown back to Los Angeles to spend 10 hours in his office being evaluated and taking personality tests only to be diagnosed for a 2nd time by the top BDD specialist in the western hemisphere. Perhaps you should know all of your facts before you pass judgement, I always do, that way it doesn't come back to bite me...
@RelaxDud3 ahaha, her eyes lit up when he told her how she was a cute little thing when she was little and grew up into a beautiful woman..dysmorphia my big fat ass, Cheyenne:)
This is why you don't put your kids into pageants. They start getting judged on their looks from an early age, and if they get prizes they feel that being beautiful is their most important quality, wait till she gets wrinkles! Very stupid of her mum to even get her into it.
She needs to ask herself why did she need to put he into pageants in first place, except for herself to feel better about her loss looks.
2:50 *thinking to herself* "Oh man, I want a sub so badly ... lettuce, onions, cheese, the works ... I wonder when the next commercial break is. I think there's a subway across the street ..."
I want to smack Cheyenne so hard in the face. She is above average in looks, she NEEDS to be smacked in the face to make her ugly because she clearly is an attention seeking bitch.
id kill for her lips :D

I have to, I have to work and survive. But yes, I don't go out too much because I don't like how I look. I've had surgery and wish to have more when I save up money. I cry alot because I realistically will never look how this girl looks! They both have perfect bodies, I'd only dream to look like them! Very depressing.

AutumnTheHairStylist 2 months ago
@AutumnTheHairStylist I agree that beautiful people can have BDD. Most of the people here aren't arguing that Cheyenne must be faking because of how she looks. They're arguing that a person with BDD does not act the way Cheyenne does. They aren't this comfortable on national television, and they certainly do not do beauty pageants.

after watching this whole thing.. the blonde girls just an attention whore. haha.if she had bdd she wouldnt have gotten up on stage at a pageant show and talk about her mental illness.someone with that illness wouldnt really want people looking at them or are too depressed.when i was fourteen i would use knives and push the bridge of my nose in untill it looked like the bump on my nose was flatter.. my nose is now broken because i hated my self so muchi didnt care about how much it hurt...

JohnJancar 5 months ago
@JohnJancar would you tell an alcoholic or anorexic to get over it?and expect that to work?If that girl has BDD she will not be getting over anything until she enages inthe proper treatment.I honestly cant see how anyone with the disorder would even appear on a show like this.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 Yea I would say get over it. I hate to be so mean, but these type of people are just vain weaklings. It has to be said. I know girls not half as pretty as these girls, and they still can manage to accept themselves, so why can't they? Where is the will, where is the strength? If everybody went and judged themselves based on some impossible criteria like these girls do, everyone would be miserable like them. The body is not what's important, it's what inside that matters.
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar BDD has nothing to do with vanity(if they have it and id have doubts about the blond),theres no pride involved, they feel great shame about what they see as deformity and the anxiety experienced is tremendous. It also has nothing to do with how someone looks objectively.Normal people would never think like them, its a diagnosed mental ilness with a history back 200 yrs and lots of research to back it up.Willpower isnt effective for these things,it cant be relied upon .
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 Go look up the definition of vanity. And don't give me this nonsense that they are just mentally ill, or are genetically predisposed to thinking this way, just utter nonsense. These people can't love themselves for who they are, that's the problem. They have some unrealistic idea of perfection, that they aren't living up to, and they judge themselves for it. That is a spiritual problem, not a genetic problem. They need to stop judging themselves, and accept themselves for who they are
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar people with BDD are repulsed by their appearance, they only want to look normal (in their mind). They dont want perfection ,they want normality.Since these disordered perceptions and beliefs destroy their lives,by definition thats a mental illness.Unless youre a complete retard youd know that all behavior is genetic plus envornmentally determined.Nobody would suggest any mental illness was entirely genetic. Its a psychological problem ,not spiritual.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 It's a psychological problem, and a spiritual problem. They have a problem with their mind and heart, not their DNA. I mean, get real. Sure genetics can have an effect on the mind and heart, sure the environment can effect weak willed people, but ultimately, its YOUR CHOICE how you feel about yourself. These people need to take responsibility for themselves, and stop looking for outside things to explain why THEY DON'T LIKE THEMSELVES. They need to dig within and find their peace.
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar its not anybodys choice how they feel, its their choice how they behave when they feel a certain way. There is neither spirit or heart, that realm is entirely neuropsychological, what you think is spirit is just the mind.sO Now you agree its partly genetic.willpower has virtually no effect on the course of mental illness, its not strong enough.Your addvice is too simplistic and never has worked in the history of mental illness.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 This all boils down to the simple concept of...do I create my reality, or does my reality create me? The fact of life is, we can create our reality, OR...we can let reality mold us. I have never been one to let life mold me, or define who I am....I DEFINE WHO I AM. I am responsible for my life. If I am too vain, or too ignorant, that is my responsibility, I don't blame anything but myself. I am a creator, I have the power, my creations are my responsibility.
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar vanity and ignorance arent mental illnesses,BDD can be a very severe one.Nobody with that can just decise to change themselves, they need therapy and sometimes hospital. They firstly wont even know theres anything wrong with their thinking,it can be a full on illusion. You are talking about self improvemnt ,not mental illness, thats not to say it doesnt take tremendous perseverence and commitment to effective therapy,it does but those things without the right treatment wont do anything.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 So you can sit there, and spout about how life creates you, you are at the whim of everything outside of you, of genetics, of society, like millions of people have allowed themselves to be....all because of a lack of will, a lack of personal responsibility, and a lack of understanding the nature of how we create our lives...but I'M NOT GOING TO DO IT. I create my life, my problems are my responsibility, I don't blame society or anything else, if I want my life to change, I change it!
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar youre misunderstanding, the entire therapy philosophy is based on changing our beliefs ,attitudes and behaiour and thus our life BUT genetics combined with learning via experience is what creates mental illness, sometimes its all environment.Accepting that behaviour is the product of genes /environment doesnt mean were powerless.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 See this is what happens when you forget about your spirit within. This is what happens when you are brainwashed by the society to ignore the spiritual, and focus only on the physical. Blaming genetics, or society, for how YOU feel about yourself, is shifting your responsibility. It's looking for a scapegoat outside of you, when you need to look within your heart to find out what's wrong with you and why you're so vain. They need to make peace with their physical body, and move on.
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar there is no need for any spiritualism in society. These people are overvaluing appearance and have distorted perception of reality, thats not changeable by praying, only by evidence based treatment
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 Yea, you clearly are living in an illusion. You have no inkling of the spiritual nature of reality, and rely solely on the physical to explain things which has their cause within, like BDD. Oh it's genetics! My foot it's genetics, and no rational person would say it's a genetic problem. They need to love and accept themselves for who they are. It doesn't take prayer or religion to understand spiritual things, just a knowing of yourself, within. You, my friend, need to study more
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar understanding yourself is psychology ,not spiritualism, you seem to be talking about a personal philosophy which isnt spiritualism either.I might point out that nothing beyond the physical has ever been shown to exist anywhere.Every educated rational person knows that all human behaviour is both genetics and learning based and that includes all know disorders.
scarred10 4 months ago
@scarred10 Oh nothing exists beyond the physical, sure lol What you don't know, of course, is I've experienced first hand "life beyond the physical" and this isn't about religion. You keep living in your illusions. I bet you're also the type of person who doesn't take responsibility for yourself, I bet you blame all your problems on other people, all your feelings on things outside of your self. And your SELF is not your BODY, your self is your spirit within which animates your body.
JohnJancar 4 months ago
@JohnJancar ok ,now I see the problem ,you think that there is something other than a physical brain inside a person.Well there is not a shred of evidence otherwise.A persons experience isnt necessarily reality.Your brain and nervous system animates your body, spirit implies a set of beliefs about afterlife which clearly isnt possible.Every single sensation and emotion you feel originates from physical events in your brain, what you call heart is brain activity.Obviously the brain is yourself.

@brownteal21 my third post to you.....yes you could probably have any guy you wanted but there is only one guy out there that is good for you....and while good looks seem to be advantage in this world what is real is a beauty inside that will deal with day to day problems in life. idig 9 months ago
Cheyenne21890 9 months ago
@Cheyenne21890 everyone needs to get off your damn case. I don't understand how they can say you're "fake" when they don't even know you and are only going by what they see on the show. What Dr.Phil said was fucked up. You obviously have BDD. They shouldn't be trying to belittle your problem just because you can do pageants and have confidence at times. Anyone can wear a mask and pretend to be confident if they feel it's necessary or worth it. It's very obvious that you have a problem.

@Cheyenne21890 I had a horrible eating disorder a year ago. Well it lasted two years...i worded that weird hahaha.

That girl is not ugly. If she is ugly, then what am I and other average looking people to her?
camandhayley 1 year ago

@EmDoz1 +1.
Cheyenne and her mom are in dire need of self-awareness.
DragonFly122 1 year ago
@EmDoz1 Cheyenne and her mom are sympathy seekers.
DragonFly122 1 year ago
@DragonFly122 We aren't sympathy seekers. My mother has nothing to do with my disorder. It is psychological and not something I want sympathy for at all. I simply want to help raise awareness of the disorder through my own story because to many people like me are commiting suicide.
Cheyenne21890 11 months ago
@Cheyenne21890 The way you present your case makes me think you're doing this for sympathy, attention and to be told "you're so pretty" by strangers.
DragonFly122 11 months ago
@DragonFly122 Which is exactly why you have no idea what you're talking about. I hate it when people say things like that to me, so going on the show sure as hell wasn't a way to seek attention.
Cheyenne21890 11 months ago
@Cheyenne21890 "going on the show sure as hell wasn't a way to seek attention"
Despite that statement, you sure like to ham it up for the cameras (I've seen the facebook pictures and that spark in your eye at 1:45). I don't think you need to use pageants to spread BDD awareness (I heard about the disorder from a magazine article in 2003).
DragonFly122 11 months ago
@DragonFly122 Everyone puts pictures on FB, it's part of maintaining an account. That so called "spark" in my eye is called lighting, most shows tend to use it & most photographs have flash. I also first heard about BDD in a magazine and that's why I consulted a doctor. What you don't seem to understand is that not everyone who has BDD feels the need to lock him/herself in a dark room forever. Some people are able to think logically & realize what they see isn't what is reality.

@Cheyenne21890 riiiiiiiiiiiight
BDD or not, you sure loove the spotlight.

FrigidArtic 9 months ago

Perhaps you should know all of your facts before you pass judgement, I always do, that way it doesn't come back to bite me...

dr. phil knew she didn't have bdd before she went on the show. he's such a retard
aniger818 1 year ago
@aniger818 Dr. Phil is a retard and I do have BDD, the specialists that he had on his show diagnosed me themselves after the show aired.

@RelaxDud3 ahaha, her eyes lit up when he told her how she was a cute little thing when she was little and grew up into a beautiful woman..dysmorphia my big fat ass, Cheyenne:)
Nemogudasesetim 1 year ago 4
This is why you don't put your kids into pageants. They start getting judged on their looks from an early age, and if they get prizes they feel that being beautiful is their most important quality, wait till she gets wrinkles! Very stupid of her mum to even get her into it.
She needs to ask herself why did she need to put he into pageants in first place, except for herself to feel better about her loss looks.

I want to smack Cheyenne so hard in the face. She is above average in looks, she NEEDS to be smacked in the face to make her ugly because she clearly is an attention seeking bitch.

This broad desperately needs a face-to-face chat with a traumatic burn victim.
