  • The music is really distracting from what Emilie has to say.

  • Dumb as rocks.

  • @booyabojangles

She's so smart I love her.

  • You can tell how honest she is being by the way she can go on comfortably with her tangents and the details in her stories.. It reminds me of myself when I'm being true to how I feel and speaking out about it. That's awesome that she poured her feelings out into an interview. I have total respect for Emilie Autumn.

  • Since 7:50 I thought she will cry.. T_T

  • Her laugh is so cute :) I admire how strong she is. Despite how much shit she went through, she seems so emotionally stable and expresses all those troubles and sorrows through her music. I love her :)

  • I was disappointed the fact the the narration CD she recorded wasn't released, but the book is worth the wait. Haha, and ironically the number of comments is "911". XD

  • Yes Yes all plague rats are unicorn aliens ;D

  • She is so amazing... Her music makes me so rattled and I love the era she chose and everything... I'm absolutely obsessed and her music is pulling me in like deaths cold hands...

  • She's brilliant. absolutely brilliant.

  • WHo does she refer to being obbsessed with at 0:37??? Something eadden...

  • Weird. Saw this yesterday and i was like a different person today.

  • I love this but the interviewer irritates me...

  • @anastasiaspencer

Really? I liked her, she seemed pretty genuine.

  • I think shes the only person who an over bite looks cute on :D

  • Truly amazing artist...

  • A truly inspiring and talented artist who has been put through hell and back! Her expression through artistry saved her sanity and gives hope to those who wish to give in... Never give up even in the face of adversity! God/Goddess bless you Emilie Autumn.... You shine...

  • lady gaga's got nothin on her!!

  • she's like.. an awesome version of Lady Gaga. x

  • @itsRosalyniThink She came out WAY before Lady GaGa. If you listen to some of GaGa's (made up) story she's stolen (in a way) some of Emilie's story.

  • @cbojohnson i meant it as in theyre both weird and quirky... :/

  • @itsRosalyniThink I know. I'm sorry. I kinda went off on you without meaning to. It's just something I noticed. But I know what you meant. :)

  • Sexually fucked with? My god, what is wrong with people?

I feel sorry for her, with all the hell she went threw.

I'm happy to see that she's stronger now though..and that she's doing what she loves <3 She's so very unique & original, nd that's so hard to come by now a days.

  • The reporter can't pull off that corset.

  • @MissDykestar I thought the opposite, that she looked better than the person she was interviewing.

  • Francis Farmer story all over again! cchr.org is one solution

    Lovespoon

  • One of the best half hours i've spent on youtube!

  • i love her music i love her how she is ...

  • I remember watching this video about a year ago. It totally changed my view on Emilie, and now I'm completely in love with her.

  • That interviewer is infatuated, who wouldn't be!

  • I had no idea how incredible were her history, it just makes me heart her more and more. Such a lovely lady!

    =)

  • looks haunted and troubled

  • She is wonderful, a real inspiration to me. I would love to meet her.

  • Oh, I thought she was a magical unicorn alien... :( Being a magical unicorn alien myself I was really happy to see someone else like me... but I was wrong .. she's just an ordinary human ... I guess I'll have to give up my search for someone of my species on this planet... and go back to my magical unicorn home planet... where it rains chocolate and the trees are made of rainbow-colored bread... I'll take my EA CDs, The Asylum book and Youtube with me.

  • Lol, the interviewer is overflowing.

  • @o0oSolidSnakeo0o That was a great, intillectual comment. I'm sure Emilie would appreciate you watching a video of her answering deep questions in a beautiful Emilie-like manner and commenting on the interviewer's boobs.

  • "Magical Unicorn Aliens!"

  • Her story almost reminds me of the storyline of Suckerpunch about being in the insane asylum and creating your own fantasy world to escape the harsh reality they were put in where they couldnt escape!

  • @MsLizzieBlue Well you have my vote for the vote down whahah *hugs*

  • I'm really touched by what she said about suicide and mental disorders and the reactions to it. I get what she's saying about people being cruel. I myself have never tried any kind of self harm or suicide, but i know how some people react to it. Especially teenager and high school students. We've become almost apathetic in the way we treat people. Its wrong and i hope this apathy doesn't progress as the years go on. Emilie Autumn is amazing, i want to by her book.

  • @TheWeaselLady13

    hey

you seem to know about EA

is she saying that mental health nurses and doctors are evil??

  • Emilie's music is my escape from the mainstream. =]

  • I wasn't locked up for bipolar disorder. I was put on heavy medication that I still take today, but my parents never put me away. Maybe her bipolar disorder was linked to something else.

  • @LithiumJoker Well, it depends how severe your Bipolar is. Some parents are more supportive than others, and some people aer more able to cope with mental illnesses.

  • @LithiumJoker She was actually locked up because of her attempt for suicide (which was a result of the BD, so I suppose in a way, that was the reason). And yes, she says she's had other problems from childhood.

  • Gorgeus woman!!! I love her opinions and her style... :) :*

  • I long to be as amazing as Emilie Autumn ^,--,^ <3

  • its acttually 4 pm here

    :O

  • I only found out about her a day or so ago. Why the fuck not sooner? New idol anyone? -3

  • @TheKindaCoolNerd ME TOO I WORSHIP HER NOW!!!!

  • @nankerphelge718 - I'll be honest and say that yes, she may be psychotic. With certain people diagnosed as bipolar those symptoms do occur. So if you meant that as an insult, I think you'd better find a more well-researched one. ;)

  • All psychosis means is that you hear voices and hallucinate. And yes, some people with bipolar disorder do have psychosis; but no, not all the time. They call it an episode when they're going through it.

  • @lokilulz Actually no, what psychosis means is that you have an altered perception of reality, and it doesn't always mean that you hear voices or hallucinate. I have a kind of psychosis, and I've never experienced any of those two.

  • @nankerphelge718 - I went through bipolar disorder in my teen years. I was in and out of psychiatric wards three different times, and the most they ever kept me in was 2 weeks. And yes, I'll be honest and say that I did have psychotic symptoms at the time. So whoever you know that was in for years at a time probably was misdiagnosed bipolar. I haven't known one person that has it that has been in that long.

  • So, why couldn't they do the interview somewhere where the sound guys are trying to set things up?

  • i wonder how many plague rats have fallen victume to killing themselfs because of this beatiful nut job?

  • i always forget that the trunk was when i branch off too far lol i tal k so much like that all the time i end up forgetting everything hah <3 i loooove emilie autumn!!!

  • The Interviewer Evi Hoste;s accent and smile is incredible :D

  • she's like if Mila Jovovich and Anne Hathaway had a love child

  • God, she's gorgeous

  • @ViollaV

Oh you already said it. I need to read further down the comments next time.

  • @ViollaV

    I read she was asexual.

  • i have ocd about sexual thoughts and its horriable.

  • Comment removed

  • Technically, people with MDD can be considered "psychotic" but only in its most medical sense, and only some of them. One of the symptoms of Bipolar disorder is psychosis, but not everyone has the same symptoms.

  • I love how she answers each question so thoroughly haha

  • Is it just me or do those chairs look really fake? It looks like there sitting in a computer

  • @littlepinkmonkeys95 No, it looks like that to me aswell. xD

  • so she was raped?

  • Emilie Autumn is my goddess :)

  • She's so down-to-earth and normal (for most of us!) - I really don't understand why others think of her as psychotic, she is far from it; different, yes, but in a extremely good way. She gives us all a lot to think about. We <3 Rat Queen!

  • @MissDia97 because she is literally psychotic, she was diagnost as bipolar

  • @nankerphelge718 Just because she's bipolar doesn't mean she's psychotic. Maybe you should get her book, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls, so you can learn more about her history before you make yourself look like an even bigger fool. :)

  • @nankerphelge718 Actually, no. Being psychotic and being bi-polar are two entirely different things.

  • @Stupacalypse82 bipolar has symptoms that are psychotic

  • @nankerphelge718 Sometimes. Not all symptoms are the same.

  • @MusicalParanoia Most of the time, yeah.

  • @nankerphelge718 Actually no. I know a lot of people that have MDD and don't experience psychosis.

  • @MusicalParanoia MDD is an outdated term, it is called bipolar, and if you are bipolar l or rapid cycle bipolar, you usually experience psychotic symptoms. bipolar ll might be the disorder most of the people you know have, but bipolar ll is a debatable definition of bipolar because it is so mild. or, they might be misdiagnose because bipolar is one of the most misdiagnose mental disorders.

  • @nankerphelge718 I don't care if it's outdated, I'm still going to fucking use it because it's shorter.

And no, the people I know have been in psychiatric wards for 4-7 years. I hardly think that can be considered mild. Also, even if they do experience psychosis, calling them "psychotic" isn't exactly correct now, is it~?

  • @MusicalParanoia BD is a shorter abbreviation actually ahaha.

Bipolar people aren't in a constant state of psychosis, that is true, but when they are considered "bipolar", that is they are having an episode, they have psychotic symptoms.

  • @MusicalParanoia Where they possible Schizophrenic? Most people who are diagnosed as bipolar are in and out. Not constantly in. A lot of schizophrenics happen to be bipolar too. Bipolar on its own is set into spectrum's. There are milder forms and others are more serious but i'm not sure if you would be in that long

  • still waiting for the audio book.... ;)

  • she's wonderful <3

  • For some reason I couldn't get past one minute and fifty seconds . . . Is disappointed!

  • she's mesmerizing

  • Wow... I've listened to her music for quite a while, but now I feel like I know her on a whole new level... She is SUCH an inspiration...

    teehee... magical unicorn aliens...

  • She makes me want to work in a psycheward and actually help people/make sure they're being helped properly. :(

  • She is beautiful

  • OMG....Shes such a nerd :DDDDD The way she talks, shes actually legit! I was scared of her sounding like an idiot, but wow, shed dank.

  • whats up with the interviewers tit pits?

  • @MrBgrigs she most likely is wearing an improperly fitted corset. when women buy a corset that is too small in the bust area it will do that,

  • She looks like Anne Hathaway

  • Yeah, try not to kill yourself , try not to take all your sleeping pills, try not to cut yourself to death, try not to get locked up but should you be bi-polar or manic depressive which is the same thing or just clinically depressed or be having a really fucking bad day. Then that’s ok there is some help , it might not be from the places you think and even if there’s not help there’s understanding. If only there was more people like Em in this world!

  • I want to walk up to her and give her a hug. =/

  • @killersweetpea3-your opinion on royalty is very dilluded by the facade of propogada. It depends largely upon the era, the age, the global structure & whether or not Matriachial or Patriarchial are up. It also deals with the balance between paganism & christianity. So few ever know true succession, its a could of fog & glitter.............

  • What a magnificent woman.

  • @DontBeSadBeRadd completely *__*

  • I don't understand why she never pressed charges against her doctors. Aren't people supposed to go to jail for those kinds of crimes?

  • @soundsxofxfreedom The problem is getting someone to listen. It's a very difficult thing to get through when you're a patient deemed mentally unstable, & you're trying to sue a doctor with a medical degree for sexual assault. In the book 'A Bright Red Scream', a psychiatric patient was manipulated and raped by her father while on leave, however she was not able to press charges because she was hospitalized. This is part of what Em is shedding light on. It all changes when you're the crazy girl.

  • @soundsxofxfreedom The world doesn't work like that. It hurts the victims and praises the ones who do wrong.

  • @soundsxofxfreedom one word: lawyers..... instead of getting tied up with all legalities she decided to publish a book sharing her story. It's better explained better in her book....so go buy it ;)

  • @intoTaboo Thanks. I guess I will :)

  • @ViollaV // I am pritty sure she has a nice and smart guy she is happy with ))))

  • @EugieOdd no she doesn't

  • @EugieOdd I'd just like to say that your comments are incredibly ignorant. She -- or anyone, for that matter -- doesn't need a man or kids in her life if she doesn't fucking want them.

It's the twenty-first century, now, thanks.

  • She is an excellent musician, a wonderful writer, and phenomenal creative force. Turning pain and torture into triumph and truth, Emilie Autumn, we commend you!

  • Emilie Autumn is a great performer! It is not a blank artist who sings that firs flakes this morning. Do it in his poems, songs and musical pieces played on the wonderful violin (this is great) is to tell people to send! I admire her and has fully respect! My only regret is that there are many people who do not appreciate her...

    Sorry for my bad english

  • sad thing is, I know exactly what she's talking about with this stuff. ;| I feel your pain emilie.

  • She seems like a nice lady here. :))

  • her speech is very educated!! Love such girls...!!! Does she have a boyfriend?????

  • She seems pretty cool. I first heard about her last year. I listened to Opheliac and she scared me away for all these months. Guess I was too quick to judge.

  • I love Emilie. She is so amazing there aren't even words to describe her. I have learned so much since listening to her music, and I have finally found music I can relate to and that i actually like(:

I went to a concert about a month ago and she touched my hand(:

  • Same think with prisons and everything else sister. Society is fucked up and it's people need to tortured for their crimes in a non religious way of course.

  • any plague rats out there want to add me and be friends? :)

  • Everytime I watch this I want to get the book even more badly, maybe one of these days.... :(

  • MEDS line up single file please.

  • "But it also extends to boys, this is about them too."

    Thank you for including me!

    =D

  • by far the best interview of Emilie!! And finally ordered her book ^_^

  • emilie you should really make more of an effort on the forums lol.

  • I've also been to an asylum! Yay!!! :P

  • Emilie is a creative genius.... she's very well read on English history and what she says here about the Elizabethan, Victorian eras and shakespeare and her life in asylums takes a lot of insight and courage to do.... she reaches many ppl.

  • @beingjoshmc well.............i DO NOT like your opinion, sir!

  • @beingjoshmc Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I don't understand why you think that a psych ward wouldn't change you. A person will be put on a variety of drugs, may be put on suicide watch, and I think the social implications coming out of one would leave someone pretty emotionally damaged.

I personally think she's great - but she's definitely an acquired taste.

  • @rsgirl10 I can pretty much guarantee that I have spent more time in psych ward custody than Emilie Autumn has, and I think that her whole description of the experience is very melodramatic and fantastical. Calling it an "asylum" for one, is just a way to make it sound worse than it is, when in fact, most pysch wards can be found in a wing of your everyday regular hospital. I would also say that it does affect you for a short period of time, but not for the rest of your life. She overplays it.

  • @beingjoshmc

Mmhm, I haven't been in one, but I suppose I can understand that she may have been exaggerated. As for calling it an asylum, I thought that was what she called her tours or gatherings or something, but referring to the original meaning of the word instead of the connotations that go along with it.

Regardless of whether she does overplay it I like her music, but I'm curious about the extent at which she may be doing so. If it's not too personal, what was your experience like?

  • @beingjoshmc Actually, Emilie doesn't refer to the psych ward she was in as the asylum. When she says the asylum, what she is refering to is the Victorian Asylum which exists in the world she unknowingly created for herself whilst being kept in the psych ward as a means of escape. The psych ward she was in was part of a regular everyday hospital. The Victorain Asylum which was her escape while she was in the psych ward became her "refuge" and she now is still somewhat living in that world.

  • @beingjoshmc And I'm not trying to challenge everything you say, but you can't possibly know what the conditions of every hospital are like (some are absolute hell while others are still somwhatbearable), and how different people will react in different ways due to their experiences and their own characteristics. Also, yes. Emilie does overplay the story in order to help herself get over it bycreating an over the top dramatic and saracastic and somehwhat humourous portrayal of her horror story.

  • @beingjoshmc Her over the top live shows are set in the asylum so as to mock the horror of it and help see a different side to it all. It is also a means of "taking the aslyum back" and make it was it was always meant to be which is a safe sanctuary unlike what it was in the 1800's(which is when the aslyum in her mind existed) and which many still are not. Her shows and evertything else are a means of expresing her experiences through creativity and thereby overcoming it all.

  • @beingjoshmc p.s. i got all that info from her interviews and from her book, so it's not as erroneous as it may sound :)

p.p.s. sorry i didn't mean to rant on so long and i certainly hope you don't take it as an attack against you in any way, i just think a lot of people don't really fully understand what she is all about, not neccessarily saying that i do, but yeah. i'm done. finaly :P

  • @beingjoshmc

I spent some time in one, and let me tell you, those doctors are just as clueless as the medical ones. As one person mentioned, some stays affect a person for the rest of their life. I think the most damaging thing about it is knowing that for some people, there's just no help for them-- as she mentioned. They get stuck in a system that doesn't really offer a real solution, and when their resources run dry, or their caretaker dies, they get kicked to the streets.

  • @Oneeyedwillie100

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge EA fan, but I don't understand a lot of the negative views towards doctors. I haven't been in a psych ward, but are they really that bad? I'm not really fighting this point, it's more that I'm curious as to the extent of how bad people think these doctors are.

  • @rsgirl10 I think it more depends on the individual doctor. but most doctors, well doctors in general are pretty awful though, in my experience anyway...

  • where can i buy this book!!!! ive wanted it sence its been out i juz can never find it

  • Without her, I'd be dead by now. Her existence prevented me from committing a suicide last summer. And I'm fucking serious. Even if she didn't know me, I'd say that she could almost be my friend. She's very dear and important to me. Someday I'll see her and state my gratefullness.

  • @KagamiLolita i know how you feel... she helped me to :) i would be lost with out her

  • can someone tell me what her book is called and where i could get it i would really like to read it,she is amazing she is inspiring<3

  • @xXChronicKatKillsxX The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.

  • --She really helped me through alot of shiit that happened to me!

I finally went back to school, to find out I have a chance of getting outl! (Graduating)

My mom found something interesting on my arm and while I was listening and understanding more of Emilie she made me have a different perspective of how I should run my life instead of actually 'Running'

The first song I heard from hers was 'Gothic Lolita!'

And ever since she's now my hero, she helped so much!! :D

  • I definately pictured her being a more Maynard James Keenan kind of anti-social person but she's a lot more talkative than I thought she would be.

  • DOes anyone have her book and would be willing to sell it to me?

  • <3

  • WHere does Emile get her clothes? They are always so great!!

I was sooo sad when I went to her page and saw she came to MY city a WEEK ago D:

  • her real voice is so different rom her singing voice!! :-O

  • There are 16 Aberzombies....

  • psychology and psychiatry are sciences that start with strategy instead of studies.

most physical disease have corresponding psychological conditions at their sorces sometimes those psychological disorders are all you'd see...

  • jesus christ she's hot

  • Magical unicorn aliens XD

  • She look's beautiful. :)

  • She's seriously adorable.

  • "You would be absolutely shocked-unless you've done it yourself-how cruel people can be when you've tried to commit suicide."

    I hear you, Emilie.

  • crazy is... seeeeexy!!!!!! love her!!!

  • I love EA's hand gestures, theyre so cute ^.^

  • am i the only one that sees that this woman is FREAKING GORGEOUS. :3

    <3

  • At 17.04 she told the hardest truth there is. If one is a "failed" suicide, people judge and get disappointed. It's all about how selfish suicide is. It's not. It's basic instinct, so to speak. It's the last resort. If one has been there, one knows what a f***ing wasteland that is.

  • why do we admire such assholes?

  • ..i think the reporter is falling in love with Emilie during the interview!!!

  • @gfragkos um *I* was falling in love with Emilie durring the interview!! lol

  • That interviewer was as good as a prop.

Thank God for Emilie's hypnotic rambling, or that would've have been a VERY awkward interview.

  • @lovethemusic666 I think the interviewer was being respectful and not interrupting. That's probably why she only asked questions and such once Emilie stopped. I think everyone knows that doesn't happen very often though. xD

And I always hate the interviewers who stop her to move on to something else when she's talking about something important.

  • Thumbs u if you actually watched the whole damn video without realizing how long it really is...

  • Emilie Autumn is a beautiful soul.

  • I like her music, and I'm very impressed by her, but she's talking about the "Victorian" and the "Elizabethan" ages as though they were horrible and awful for women and that the only escape was suicide....just curious, who was the "queen" during those timeframes? Oh yeah, Elizabeth and Victoria, strong, powerful women.

  • @TheNeloi but the queens weren't born into the lower class. They were born into royalty so they didn't have to deal with any of the issues that common women might have faced. Yes, they may have been strong, but not every woman was as strong as them.

  • - Wow. She's so Inspiring,

I lie to myself so I can keep my friends that I've known forever and I see them change everyday but I don't I keep myself with the baggy clothes, and bad hair.

Maybe I should try and tell the truth, do want I want to do but not hurt anyone while I'm doing it :D

  • I love her music, but I've always pictured EA as somehow cold and even feminist. Now I see she's actually a warm and kind person. One of them who grab you and take you to a whole new world with their words.

  • @shelteringshade Because of course you can't be a warm, kind person AND a feminist. That would just be ridiculous!

  • "magical unicorn aliens" XD

    Love her.

  • She look snothing like Anne Hathaway...Anne hathaway has dark hair and huge lips...df....you people are tripping I SWEAR.
