you seem very dedicated which is fantastic! Just make sure that when you are preparing for a pirouette, only place the back foot once. You seem to be placing it behind you and then moving it slightly closer to your supporting leg before you take off. Just a little hint that will make your turns cleaner! :)
@bananarific22 Thanks- that is how my teacher teaches it. Prob at some point it comes out. He is vaganova based so maybe it is something to do with that? When I do privates with my balanchine based teacher she noticed this also but left it alone for now . :)
Yourr so lucky , I wish ,my mom had the money to pay privet ballet classes .My mom promise me every month that I can take ballet classes ,but she just dont have the money ! so I'm learing myself . :( I'm not happy at this moment .
does your mom always video tape your classes , or do you always know what the next class is?also ive been following your vids for quite a time and yoo r AWESOME!!!! also much more flexible than me.... i cant do a ponche AT ALL.
@mersinger989 we try to video all the privates and whatever else we can that doesn't have a bunch of people in it that may not want to be ;) Thank you!! :)
Incredible dancer!! Robbie you are amazing. You need to work on your strength so that you can hold it, but you are incredible. I will not be surprised at all if you become the next Pavlova, Gillian Murphy, or Svetlana Zakharova. Each move is fluid, keep trying you have so much potential just work on balance, concentrate on the move you are doing.
@mydancetv I see that you do! Ugh this video reminds me when I was drilled on my attitudes. Are you learning based on the R.A.D. method I noticed your ankle was at some points below the knee. Also hold your turn out I see that you have a very good structural turn out but by strengthening your muscles you will get a better what is known as functional turn out. You rock!! So talented keep it up. We all believe you will go far for sure.

@mydancetv Your welcome. Concentrate on strengthening your functional turn out when at the barre. Also make sure your foot is in line with the foot, and if at all a higher attitude that is higher than 90 degrees I was always told that the ankle should be slightly above the knee. This is the Vaganova style, but do whatever your teacher tells you though. Your very talented, we all believe in you!
I go to Kirov academy of Washington DC. Is your mom a photographer or videographer? Because she has documented your progress so beautifully. I have been following you for a while now. I feel like I'm talking to a celebrity! lol.
@Dreamers79Norandbing ahhh you are sooo lucky! great school! Yes she does photo and video but my channel is really raw like we don't spend a bunch of time fixing the videos all perfect ;) So are you there year round?
In the chaine turns at my studio, we have to keep our arms in first but our wrists crossed and we cant open our arms to second, its very difficult to stay in balance
@Theteeniebaby make sure you have spotting down in a single, don't wind up... pull up, push the ball of your foot into the floor, standing knee straight, keep your head straight too, like level, no bobble head ;)
@Theteeniebaby Do you still need help? The Vaganova technique is to hop a little while you still don't have your balance. When you feel you're about to fall, just do a teeny hop and keep going. Before long you won't need the hop! It worked for me. I'm doing triple pirouettes now :) It doesn't look pretty but it works like a charm. If your studio won't let you do it, just practice at home.
@Dreamers79Norandbing @theteeniebaby ya we do the hop in mr max's class because it is vaganova but my other teachers don't like us to do it. I think it works too.
I would recommend buying Sally Sevey Fitt's book "Dance Kinesiology". It's a very in depth book, aimed at university students. So you may find it a challenging read, however the exercises at the back are great. Your teacher is really pushing you both with the difficulty of the exercises and the demands on your body. As your body is still growing it is essential to keep your back and centre strong. Ms Fitts book will really help. Good luck and keep up the good work! Sindy xxx
your very good for you age, you have to make sure that your center is strong, that will help you to control your body, to keep your posture and to increase your balance :) keep your good work
I HAVE A QUESTION! How many hours a week do you dance? I am 13 and have bin dancing on pointe for about 3 mounths I dance 17 hours a week and do the most classes out of everyone in my level. I am prob just as gooda t you (when it comes to pointe) But I kinda suck at turns.
@EAJBlack right now not many due to the studio change - it doesn't work with my school but on average 6 or 7 if I have a 1-2 hour private with jennifer to try to make up lost time. Turns will come just keep at it ;)
Is this your new studio? Because it looks like the pilates place. But you look more improved each vid and I think the Russian pointes look nice but the griskos look better
@balletguru09 thank you and no- this is a pilates studio ;) I only do privates here right now with jennifer- My other classes are at a ballet studio. i think I am going back to grishko they feel and look better! ah is time for bed!
Great vid! She's coming along so nicely :). Has Robbie ever worn Freed Classic pointe shoes? Dani's teacher recommends Freeds for beginner pointe students so we haven't tried anything but Freed. Just curious as to whether Robbie has a favorite shoe yet. Thx :).
where in San Diego is this studio? I'm trying to find a new studio closer to where I live since I moved out of home and am living in an apartment. And she teaches older girls right? Because I'm 17 and a lot of studios have a high school age limit for their classes.
@alexandraxoxoxo11 this is actually a pilates studio. But if you message me I can tell you where to take some group classes if you are in san diego. Or if you want privates I can give you jennifer's info too.
Ahh, Robbie, you are getting soo good! I have Russians, too. Just keep bending them and rolling over them en pointe, you'll break them soon! Once they break in, they are gorgeous. I just wear mine for about ten minutes each night to make sure they get broken in. Actually, my last shoe was a Bloch morph (don't recommend it), those took waay longer to break in but once they did, my box was really soft. Anyway, my point: I actually broke in my Russians quickly after those shoes! I got freaked out
your turns are getting nice! just a bit of advice from a dance teacher; try keeping your knee behind your hip in attitude for better alignment and balance
You should really try to break in your pointe shoes a lot more. Maybe just like bang them against stuff and wear them around the house with some leg warmers on so they don't get dirty. You are getting very good!!
yay! you are getting so good Robbie :) each time you did the turning exercise you got better and better. and your fourth position in really nice (random, I know!) and I agree about the grishkos being more of an extension of your leg than the Russians. keep up the good work!
@embethjones I have Mr Max 2 days per week now another lady on Fridays and then I mix in jennifer. Hoping to get more with Mr Max soon . The studio change and yagp have made it hard but is worth waiting for! ;)
