I was in Columbus on the Friday that this was recorded - I was holding a sign in front of the statehouse, BEGGING the state to stop using child custody as a reward for filing divorces and pushing good devoted dads out of their families. I was asking for equal protection of fundamental parental rights. Ours was a 40 state demonstration. Maybe someday, someone will hear us - good dads who want to "step up" but can't, because there's too much money in the divorce industry and federal incentives.

Not privatising social security will only result in increased burden on the young to support the old in the long run. Ie. higher taxes on you guys -> higher cost of living and inflation -> you have to work more. Of course, this is assuming there's an ageing population.

He said he'd raise the cap so the rich people foot the bill for social security. But the promises for social security account for more money than can be paid by the top 3%.  With medicare included(without his additional health care promises)its around 50 trillion for the next thirty years.

It really is a broken system. And even though I love to hear him speak, he just plans on increasing debt and inflation ridiculous amounts. Like so many problems--exacerbated by the solutions.

Wow, I really like some of the policies he set forth in this speech. I am really looking forward to this. I know conservatives will say "Look at all of the big government he will be setting up." But the fact is, I personally don't know that I can trust a 401k. If I change jobs or am laid off, I get a penalty for taking the money out or transferring it to another company. I like a universal system that I know I can trust will be there if I have to change jobs or, God forbid, get fired.
