  • im 16 now and even my brother and I watched it when we were small :)

  • @Ladybug005 - I do not blame you those were great days, life seemed so much simpler and easier back then. Ok so there were a few fights with the NF back then but hey - it made us stronger! But Button Moon brings back memories of the TV room in nursery days and the lovely Mrs Carts ahhhhhhh Mrs Carts - I wonder where she is now - probably dead or in a retirement home!! Lol!! Those were the days! Shoot where's my Button Moon pjs now!

  • lol! I just read on wiki that it was the fifth Doctor Who and his -back then- wife singing it! Small, yet lovely, world :P

  • @80scartoonsgirl ... Hell yeah I'm 34 ... 1977 baby , and this is the stuff man ... The red hand gang !!!!!

  • @jpb3000 Good on you - 1977 is THE best year ever!!! Bee Gees, Star Wars and Button Moon babies rocking the planet since birth! Button Moon rocks as does Rainbow, Cockelshell Bay, Sports Billie, Jackanory, what't the other one with Hugh, Pugh, Barney, McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Gruff?! Love it! Bring it back!!

  • the bubbles :0

  • Childhood i miss you! :-(

  • I remember buying this on video a few years back and gave it to my older brother for a joke Christmas present. My Nephew ended up with it and he wore the tape out from watching it. It just proves old children shows are sometimes better and more liked than the modern stuff.

  • One of my earliest memories is me watching this on a crappy black n white tv and my dad making sarcastic remarks aboout the production values and story lines lol, i only remember the theme tune now so he was probably right, Now worzel gummidge i model myself on him :))), this story is 100% true and troll all in one

  • to the right of my screen i see links to every one of my childhood tv shows )))

  • I was near Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria once and I saw that some sad git had changed the sign for Hutton Roof to Button Moon!

  • To 6edTelevision, I saw that sign too, on the A65. I thought it was comical. Haha.

  • oh

  • amazing :)

    YEAH FUCKING RIGHT

  • Totally a precursor to the mighty boosh and little big planets visual style.

  • I used to get off something else watching button moon, oh to be back there for a day or two, even an hour..

  • I'm 36 and if they re-did this now in HD with He-Man, A-Team, Thundercats, grange hill, e.t.c. ...........shit, I'd subscribe today........in fact, lets do it in 3D................ I'd buy a 3DTV just to do it...........imagine button moon in HD3DTV.......think I'd wet meself

  • @isaac1665 lol

  • i loved this when i was about 4

  • Button Moon OMG. I feel like crying.... Love it

  • I was born in the wrong time! The best time was when you had the Beatles, Queen, ABBA, all these classic TV kids shows and you went outside to play or you used a board game. Now we all use mobile phones or go on the computer for hours on end to entertain ourselves. I wish life was just a bit more like it used to be : )

  • lol my daughter just laughed and said thats silly shes only 4.

just goes to show this generation is defenatly not the same

  • wow i remeber this i was only a kid and my dad told me he watched it when he was small lol

  • The witch used to scare me as a kid. >.<

  • Ahhhh, I loved this programme. Reminds me of pebble mill finishing and sitting on the sofa with my mum.

  • I miss Button Moon.

  • The bubbles are coming from the drama graduate who just shelled out £3k on tuition fees a year to be in movies.

  • @HomeMadeSixPack ah yes but in those days education was free and you were given money, that you didn't have yo pay back, to keep yourself.........

  • this was my all time fave

  • you're so right isobel. growing up does suck:( I think everyone mid 30's and onwards should be forced to watch this every week..Maybe then we can reconnect with our "inner child" and begin to move away from the corporate machines we have become!

  • @blueroomexit It's Doctor Who/Dr Tristan actor Peter Davison singing that ypu know, the female voice is his wife!

  • Why the hell does this song make me wanna cry.!!!

  • @iBabyShamHD realising that time is slipping through your fingers at an incredible speed

  • @curlyfm Good reply :)

  • Comment removed

  • @iBabyShamHD Yeah I thought this too lol. I think it's because it's a slow song bringing back happy memories in turn stirring up emotion. Like curlyfm said, it makes you realise that time is slipping by fast and you can never get those truly happy times back. It's a mixed emotion of happiness & sadness. Happy because it's bringing back memories but sadness because you know that time has gone. It's the realisation that you are never going to be able to see the world through a childs eyes again.

  • @TheARMAProductions Well yes ;D

  • @TheARMAProductions You summed that up perfectly.

  • @iBabyShamHD the weird thing is, I'm 21 and never saw this programme as a child, and yet it would definitely make me cry if it went on for another 10 seconds

  • @bobbiwib If you saw it as a child, this song would make you cry, Most defiantly..

  • I wanna go to button moon :(

  • 13 years old and i remember this

  • @randomkid1ful same here

  • @Pikachufan82 nice one mate used 2 love it:)

  • I didn't think this could get any more awesome but...

The theme tune was composed and performed by Peter Davison and Sandra Dickinson, a.k.a. the Doctor (from Doctor Who), and Trillian (from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

  • I was like 2-3 when this was on...and I bloody liked it!

  • Im 22 and i remember watching this when i was young! who remembers the jam sandwich that tries to push its way through the traffic and the police chase it??!! i vaguely remember, i think thats what was going on haha

  • Loved Button Moon as a kid :)

  • i'm 15 i love the retro cartoons it beats what annoying crap u get today

  • @trueuktunes It's sad that all of the new shows on Cartoon Network these days combined don't even come close to this show by about 1000000000000000 miles.

  • I'm thirteen, but I know about all of these awesome shows because my brother was around back then and we have all the video tapes of them.

  • aww this show brings back memories so many good memories of always watching this show on nick jr whenever i was 7 or 8 years old i love this show and miss it so much we need more shows like this in our society today to show people what real cartoons or animations really where instead of crap like chugginton and special agent oso bring back the Classics :)

  • We had a dog and for some reason she got the name Bonny button moon! weird stuff we watched as kids but the stuff now (if you have sky/ virgin etc) is utter crap.... saying that i do like spongebob :D

  • classic!!

  • The good old days. Back then we didn't need CGI. A big button and a rocket made of a can of beans was good enough.

  • CHECK OUT THE MIGHTY BASS CLANGER!!!.... you know you want to...

  • mr spoon used to fly all the way to the moon then get a telescope out see what his wife was doing in the garden lol

  • One of my friends sounds like a clanger

  • I can just imagine sewing that button on my shirt. Good times or what. LOL

  • =) good times !

  • Looking at it now it was so cheaply done but in my memory it was glamerous and magical, travelling all the way to button moon. We had great imaginations back then, I hink kids today have lost that because it's all put right in front of them with the big budget crap they have now. Maybe I'm just turning into a grumy old man...

  • @martinward10 Absolutely, in my memory this show looked incredible; the warmth and magic of button moon set against the velvet, sparkling darkness of space...this is not how I remember it!

  • @RaincloudGaming So it's not just me. ps, it still is magical to me ;-)

  • Did Mr and Mrs Spoon on their travels through space, ever come across the coat that the button had come off ?

  • minted cant beleive im 35 now and still miss my childrens programmes lmao used to love jamie and the magic torch that was ace..:)

  • Ahh.The good ol' days when all you needed for a good kids tv show was a big button, a babies bottle and a bubble blowing set...brilliant.

  • @williamblair11 And a tin of Heinz beans :)

  • The production budget for button moon must of been huge.

  • MSN brought me here.

  • I love button moon, anyone know where i can see it again ?

  • I'm 14 and i remember this xD~! (even tho it ended WAY before i was born)I remember having a doll, a tina teaspoon doll and you pulled the string and the opening theme would play :D

  • i love this god bless the 80s

  • This actually brought tears to my eyes haha. I adored this as a little 'un, though it always bothered me that when Mr and Mrs Spoon landed Button Moon was tiny with no inhabitants, but when they got out of their spaceship it was endless. Fairly logical for a toddler, let alone anyone else!

  • This brings back some memories....... the 80's were a great time to be growing up. we all spent so much time outside cause we didn't have video games or the internet. Kids grow up too fast these days. Interesting how all the comments for this video are so positive, think it's down people aged 30-40 who grew up easily pleased by simple things. Who needs big budget entertainment!!

  • We were such easily pleased kids in the 80's! x

  • @theonemoomin i used to love masturbating over button moon

  • I miss you Mr Spoon!!

  • @TheHumzie Amen to that!

  • @TheHumzie yes i agree with you too fast too soon age 39..this seemed like yesterday..

  • Who would have thought a Heinz Beans can and a couple of wooden spoons would make such classic kids telly?!

  • quality not seen this in years loved it

  • Back in the days when you could make a TV show from an old button, some bubbles, and a bit of refashioned cardboard.

  • haha sounds like coldplay

  • @excelbolt actually it's Peter Davison (Doctor Who & All creatures great and Small) and his wife singing this

  • @MrComedy01 thks for the info - was saying it SOUNDS like Coldplay - not actually them...

  • I <3 this. I have watched button moon every single day when I was a little kid. Which is 27 years lol

  • NASA spend a fortune putting people into space. Button Moon cracked it with a baked bean tin.

  • i loved this when a was a baby

  • A classic piece of my childhood I had at lest 4 videos 2 of them a double one I adored button moon as when I was a kid and still got a soft for it even now. By the way has anyone here ever been luckly enouguht to see the button moon stage play with the singing hotpots and tiny the witch it increable hard to get any info about it on the web

  • This brings back memories of the 80's !!

  • pop pop :P

  • This will also be one of my first and fav kids shows along with care bears I still got a soft sport for both of them even now I am 25. Also fun fact Peter Davison also plated the 5th doctor and was married to Sandra dickions before they divoice who was also famous for playing Trillion in hitfchhicker guy

  • love this porgram

  • love it i used ot watch it when i was a kid

  • @101badgirls same, just watching that brings back the memories.

  • I think Nasa created this footage when they were faking the moon landings. Then they realised this really wasn't convincing enough and had to start again.

  • ''We've been to Button Moon and gobbled Mr Spoon, Button Mooooon'' or so we sung in infant school'' Cannot believe we all loved this as children. Oh well, innocence and all that.

  • Memoriess :')

  • i love button moon, used to watch it all the time as a little kid, i think its great !

  • I had a Mr. Spoon doll that played the Theme tune. My sister had Mrs. Spoon. :D

  • takes me back to happier times , being a kid was grate !!

  • I remember I used to sit with my youngest niece (who was around 4 or 5 at the time) and I'd watch a whole video of button moon with her. And I think I enjoyed it almost as much as she did. LOL.

  • probably the first ever show i watched when i was about 3 in nursery.

  • i loved loved loved button moon omg wish i was a kid again

  • My mom says that when we was out and i was playin up..She would say "right thats it when we get home you are not watching button moon" apparentely i was good after that.

  • The programme that invented scientology

  • @elephantsmemoryband

Actually, Scientology was invented by a criminally convicted, racist, drug-taking, wife beating, child abusing, lying, homophobic, cowardly founder named L. Ron Hubbard.

  • @OpenComments

Thought you were talking about Mel Gibson for a second.

  • @Ashworth6 "When you're a clown! noboddeh takes yah Seriousleeeeeeeeeh" XD

  • Was this the lowest budget TV show ever made? lol :)

    CLASSIC though.

  • Some say the Button Moon landings were faked but I don't believe it. NASA were the ones who got the toilet rolls and silver foil for their moonshots.
