What is the staffing of Saint Louis ambulnces/ How many are there? And most importantly What is the average response time to life threating emergencies where the patient is critical?
there are eleven 24/7 ambulances and 2 ambs that are in service for 12 hours (m9 10-10 & m29 12-12). I'd say the usual response time is 4-7 minutes. But when it's busy, its not unheard of to wait 15+ minutes for a medic unit to get there. That's why there is usually a fire truck on scene prior to the medic unit. Between the 13 medic units we run around 75,000 calls a year. I work on the busiest medic unit in the country (per capita), which is Medic 10, which runs close to 6,000 calls a year.
