It's a cover up, just like every other cable manager except one. When he opened up that cover it looked like a jungle even after all the hard work to dress it in.
The guys at Neat-Patch make all that hardware and all that copper so unnecessary. Using stand alone components, all you need is the NP2K648 on the front and a simple vertical manager to properly guide the workstation cables to their termination point. The proof is in every photo and video on their site.
