Repressed sexuality. Well done, I play this video often, you have captured many things. Love the song. How does a man capture a woman so well? That's the genius of Cohen.
@Ubix33 Et moi, il va sans dire, j'apprécie beaucoup ton commentaire ici! Joyeux Noël et Bonne et Heureuse Année! Meilleurs voeux du Vermont, E.U. Eileen

Liked your video. Thanks for producing it. The song, of course, is tremendous. I first heard Leonard Cohen sing it over forty years ago and it is certainly one of my top 15 songs of all time. When this (cassette, at the time) came out I had to own it and the fact that Leonard accompanies Jennifer is a bonus. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video Eileen! You've used some beautiful images to create an amazing overall presentation. Joan of Arc/Jeanne d'Arc is one of my favourite heroines of all time. Her life was truly inspirational and set the course of history for France to truly express its Soul Purpose, and become a great nation. I really enjoyed the touch of reverence and beauty conveyed in this informative video. A fitting tribute to a courageous and awe-inspiring heroine and Saint. ♥
Extraordinary clip, moving and fascinating. A real work of artist. Through the artists who carried this big role. You pay tribute in the history of France. I did not know this duet, I like very much the song.
@ArtsKris Thanks for watching Christian! I regard you as my French expert when I do anything that deals with French culture (which I absolutely love..) :-))
Very sombre indeed. I don't know about the lady's divine guidance or selfless motives, but your video shows that even in martyrdom there are intriguing personal stories.
@likekinds After reading a lot about her and watching that movie, I started seriously wondering if she might not have been schizophrenic. She fits the description in today's world. Who the heck knows??? Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great work Eilleen. You did a wonderful job. I enjoyed the music and the clip a lot. Compliments. to you. I wish you a good weekend with a lot of smiles. Greetings and big hug marc
Is not easy to bring me to shed some tears but there no shame when you cry for a good reason< thanks Eileen< jOAN of Arc:s story is real special < God blessings<
Thanks dear Eileen! True, music and drama give interpretation of the action this time and heroine who, although she did so much for France, died so tragically. Congratulations on your achievement and successes!
This song is not about Jean D' Ach, its about sexual politics, the Jean D'Arc stuff is Cohen doing allegory, duh!!.

Très bel Hommage à Jeanne D'Arc. Elle est certainement la femme la plus audacieuse et courageuse de tous les temps.
Le tragique destin d'une bergère royale !

Myself I long for love and light,
but must it come so cruel, and oh so bright?
That lyric has been with me since the early 1970's. This video is a highly sensitive and wonderful work of art. Almost a mini movie in itself.

@JackyRowe I can't remember if I answered you on this question...It's done by Odilon Redon, a French surrealist painter.
