all you needta do is to check if your vehicle is truly stuck. if it is, put it on 2nd, get right off, and yal see the wheels spinning. what I do is a lil stupid, bu it works, I put it on 2nd and get off with a shovel, scoop the sand right out and put my wooden planks, the car drives itself out.Ya needta rush and switch the vehicle off if you cant get in.careful with trees, steep drops or people in front.try it.its fun:)
gotta love the low RPM torque you can only get from a diesel! This is the proper way to get unstuck. slowwwwwwww power on the wheels and slightly turning the wheel in either direction till it gets grip.
my dad has this too on its car.. its no automatic its no gear ether... its 2x4 4x4 and something else which does that.. dont ask for names i dont know its name in english nice magic car trick pal
@dodgedakotafan Not realy, i have friends with automatic and some of the times i have to help hem ... in automatic when you get higher RPM the gear change itself, and some of the times you need high RPM on sand to make dunes....
Older ones might be good. Friend had a newer one and it was junk. Had to run 93 octane fuel. Had blown head gasket at 50,000 miles and cost $2000 to fix it. Transmission went out at 79,000 and cost $2000. Junk junk junk. I'll never own one.
@nibortheyak My Landrover Done 222,347 Miles on her TD5 and her turbo broke and thats all she needed in her abused, salt water ridden, trailour towing and my own stupid off roading life
@hhezzah Well then that explains how its "moonwalking". If you let the clutch out on a diesel, it doesn't want to stall, especially with no force pushing against it (letting the clutch out while it has to carry its own weight as if on a street compared to letting the clutch out in sand, when its just moving sand... you get what I mean)
@elementfreak1344 mate its called LOW RANGE 1st gear clutch out. even my toyota surf can do it and some times in 2nd gear its beacause all the power/torque from deisels come from the lower rev range and they are pretty hard to stall.
common sense really
any diesel in low range can spin its wheels while on idol. plus you have the manual choke so you can rev them up a bit too
this is how is get done: shift the transfer to the LO gear position, then shift your manual transmission in 1st gear, then press the clutch and start the engine.Once the engine is started pull the "choke" knob a litlle to keep the engine a bit accelerated.Theres no magic at all.
yes, but who is gonna have oversized road tires? if anything someone will have either all-terrain or MT tires on anything above 31s. More rubber in a mud tread is better than a road tire in stock form. best thing to do on sand is air down to about 20lbs
depends on the construction and size of the tyre moreso than the tread type. engine power is also a factor. A wider tyre is better than a narrow one, but needs more power to turn. Agressive treads (mud tyres) also sap the power. The best combination is a flotation tyre, low pressure (10psi) and plenty of horsepower.
Any vehicle would have had a problem if using the wrong tyres, Defender has always been the best overall off-roader, I don't even think that's ever even been disputed
@ZS6JMP Actually we (brits) use the snatch because it's cheap. Great off roader, provides no protection for the driver unfortunately. However, if you need to get somewhere fast and the terrains shit these things are about the best for the money.
@VIDEOZAL If you are up to date with what the British army now use you will know that we no longer use landrovers on operations, only in the uk on exercises. As for my logic, Certain brands are tried and tested, of high quality, leading to military interest in those brands. Like Sig pistols for instance are used by both Brittan, Switzeland and US navy seals. Thus it must be a good product
@ZS6JMP Use of the vehicle has been the subject of criticism by the media, politicians and the families of some casualties in both the Afghan and Iraqi areas of British operations. This criticism was visible in the public domain from around 2005 with media claims that civil servants of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development should not use the vehicles
The use of the Snatch in Afghanistan and Iraq has caused troops to name it a "Mobile Coffin".[19]
@lwilliamsrdr no they use them because their cheap.thats why land lovers are use around the whole globe and jeeps mostly only in the u.s. land rovers all the way.they have more power better quality metals, parts, and bolts and you dont need a 6''+ lift kit

@jr15wa Oh well if world war 3 or any shtf kick off here in disarmed soviet UK, the civilians can only line up in the street, and while wondering what happened on x factor start getting shot. But its all part of the big brother knows best.
