@xmadafaca1 You should never think that you are better than someone else. You are a human being just like the people who live in Romania. Human beings are not better than any other person because of their race, sex, origin, disability, or sexual preference. Remember that. If you have nothing nice to say, move on.
MIN 1:21 A REVERSED CROSS EMBEDDED IN THE DOOR. Everything romanians did with the dictator (killing him) was under an anticristic sign obvious. Se poate vedea in usha cu clantza si mergand in sus crucea inversata. compared to the thieves we have now in our government. Today's Romania is free, but both weak and poor, cause the thieves that run now our country destroyed our old industrial power for gaining economic empires while the people barely live because of the 700 American dollars wages they give to us! Ceausescu was never as selfish to let the population die for the sake of his wealth, like the vampires we have today. Capitalism meant destruction for Romania.
The problem is that the occidental world did never see the true face of Ceausescu, and would be shocked to hear that some of the people curse the day when we started the revolution. You see, he wasn't actually the monster your medias tried to make of him after 1989. Sure, he was a dictator who interdicted free speech, but, believe it or not, the industry, human development level and prosperity were all higher during the communist age in Romania, because he actually cared about the people
Ceausescu was a real character. Apparently he never wore the same outfit twice and his clobber was incinerated after use. He could have at least taken it to a charity shop, the tight git!
@googlelt Yes, seems to me the Irish need to pick up a book and read about a country before they bash it. Or better yet, surf the net and educate themselves before making stupid, ignorant remarks about people/countries they don't know anything about. How sad...
@filurfilur YES, OF COURSE IT IS. However, I honestly don't know of a single person in the entire world who would even condone such a thing (nor am I condoning the fact that Ceausescu had all of Romania on VERY strict rations at the expense of this and his family's super extravagant lifestyle, either) now that Ceausescu is long been dead. Yet, somehow, they 've got to try to make some practical use of such an edifice, so that EVERY ONE would all benefit (which, BTW, is Romania's Parliament HQ)
@NeluThat70sKid Actually after the 1989 revolution they decided to demolish the building, but since all the marble needed to be dismantled and sold it became more expensive to get rid of it than to finish it. So they really didn't have any choice than to keep it, although as of today it hasn't been officially finished and probably never will for what it still represents.
@mcmlxvi Well, of course, given the time and all the massive amount of materials involved, what else do you suggest or recommend that the country do with such a huge edifice? Though it may not be 100% finished, like you've already noted, anybody who had to slave over such an ambitious undertaking probably wants to wipe their hands clean of it. Besides its use as Parliament HQ, there're already cafes, parks, and open-air stadium concerts, that Ceausescu would've forbade anyway, around the palace
Ceausescu never intended the building to be used as his palace...Look at the large marble hallways and the conference rooms. It was meant to be a Palace of the People (that was also its original name). Its purpose was clear: Romanian national public authorities were to be relocated inside one single building... which come to think of it was not a bad idea after all.
CACI TARA ASTA DE CAND EL A LASATO ARE PREA MULTI STAPAN!!!!

It looks beautiful. What a shame Romanians didn't enjoy another 24 years under Ceausescu. All hail Ceausescu! What? Romanians themselves elected him as leader for almost a quarter of a century, why can't I endorse their excellent discernment?
you are not very smart, aren't you ?! where did you get the idea that romanian chosed him ? The communism "democracy " works a little bit different than what you might think you know about democracy
You and Delta obviously aren't familiar with an English device called 'sarcasm'. Perhaps it's this very lack of judgment that led to Ceausescu'suninterrupted reign.
From Bangladesh, eh? So I'm one monsoon flood away from being relieved of your barely legible opinions, then. At 163 million people, you're obviously following Ceausescu's policies regarding population. Good move, Bangladesh, venerable nourisher of written English, Communist Romania scholars and sane demographic planning.
