  • 3:04 HOLY SHIT

  • this song is a god damn journey.

  • Anamanaguchi, you're one of the best chip tune writers I ever heard!

It's a real pleasure to hear such music, b'coz I'm an Amiga (and Speccy) fan.

  • thats not healthy... :( kool song though :)

  • Under The Sea got nothing on this.

  • it is what i would imagine as modern classical music

  • Epic¡¡¡¡

  • Somebody must be having a seizure right now watching this video. Anyway, Great band Great Music.

  • @fudgecrit seizure of awesomeness, yeah

    the best Anamanaguchi song

  • quess what was the treasure

i bet it was anamanaguchis album dawn metropolis :D

  • I used to hate this song until I actually listened to it the whole way through, the way that it builds up for so long and then climaxes with the addition of an amazing guitar riff astounded me, now it's one of my favouriite Anamanaguchi songs.

  • is there a program or something to make this kind of animation?

  • Epic.

  • SO PUMPED for Blip Australia 2012. hope these guys will be there; I thought I was gonna have to fly to fucking New York to see them so a 20 hour drive ain't shit

  • If you like Anamanaguchi and Scott Pilgrim, check this one:

    watch?v=rfouqNtKtoQ

    Believe me, its AWESOME

  • Lucky mermaid at 1:14

  • thumbs up if this reminds you of Ecco the Dolphin at all.

  • Four days with this song playing again and again in my head... and still counting. ;)

  • some poeple take drugs -.- noobs they just should listen to anamanaguchi ... oh wait thats the same

  • I need to find this ocean, the water looks fcking amazing

  • EPIC!!!!! I LOVE IT!!

  • I liked this song before Nathan sent me here. But still he is the awesomesause of the internet.

  • God I wish there was a tutorial on how to hack the NES just like they did.

  • @SoopahUltraTV They use a ROM loader, which would normally be used to play ROM dumps without carts, but when you load an NSF or Nintendo Sound File, the NES simply plays the music. They use a free program called FamiTracker to compose the music and export it in NSF format.

  • @Stainlesssteele4 Oh okay, so their slogan is false then huh?

  • @SoopahUltraTV Well, kinda, they hardwired a PS1 LED screen into the back of the NES, so thats kinda hacking it

  • @Stainlesssteele4 Clever loopholes.

  • awesome work out music

    always leveling up =]

  • I find myself involuntarily holding my breath on the man's behalf.

  • 5 personnes ont eu une crise d'épilepsie.

  • 5 people have gotten seizures from that intro

  • Dat bass.

I wish they'd write more stuff like this.

  • How does someone hack a NES?

  • @xxxlunadawnxxx Google?

  • @xxxlunadawnxxx Well first you need an axe...

  • @Emelljee your gunna need some spray paint too

so you can paint the insides for proper modding

    red = infinite 1 ups

green = start game at full power

    etc

  • Do they have other songs that sound like this? I've checked out a few of there others, but they were all fast and not as chill as this one (still love them though)

  • This is the most beautifully constructed song by these guys.

  • I am physically inept at having a favorite song 1-7 because of the threatening awesome sauce of the songs.

  • who made the video?

  • @MrAlexchappell The video is made by Anamanaguchi itself by using a hacked NES. I still don't know how they even record it...

  • @Legonator1000 no... thats completely wrong. the music is made with a hacked nes but the video is made by Paris Trentafeles, and not with an NES.

  • @MrAlexchappell Paris Trentafeles... it says so in the video itself o_o

  • when reading Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, you are required by law to listen to this during the climax.

  • getting high with mermaids must be the altamet expriance

  • I just noticed this is from the amazing game known as Bit Trip Runner (Credits) I didn't know they made a few of the songs for the game o.o - The More You Know

  • @SupaKoopa1 they didnt make it specifically for the game, their music was just used in the game

  • I need to learn that dance

  • This is their best song. Hands down.

  • Cthulhu should have had a guest appearance in the video

  • i wanna know what happened to the guy.......

  • Is there something wrong with my codec, or is the background supposed to be doing all that psycadellic stuff?

  • This is so epic. they should have done the pokemon chiptune track.

  • This song is truly a curiosity. Listen to the other Anamanaguchi songs and they all have a similar, consistent, upbeat theme. This one is super long and has many different "parts", if you will. I dunno what I'm typing about, but this is my favorite Anamanaguchi song. Deal with it.

  • WHAT THE FUCK DID I SMOKE!?!

  • 6:00 DON'T OPEN THE BOX!!!!!!! XD ROFLMAO!

  • i became a fan of Anamanaguchi when i played the Scott Pilgrim demo on the Ps3 and that was like 5 days ago XD.........peace

  • This whole video looks like a cosby sweater!

  • 1:34....Am I the only one who hears a little Franz Ferdinand

  • One seriously trippy video :L

  • Two Guitars and an NES.

  • 8 bit-o-riffic!

  • fuck im high

  • EVIL MERMAID TRYING TO STEAL JET BOY'S VIRGINITY AFTER TAKING AWAY HIS FLIGHT POWER!!!!

  • If I was a boss in a gameboy game this would be my tune.

  • @TheJakAttax an 8:00 long game-boy boss battle with this song? man they need to do that

  • Hippie Giygas at the end

  • Dunno why, but the mermaid part reminded me of Splash with tom hanks...

  • 6:06

    you have discovered LIGHT

  • lolwtf @ guy's legs

  • Fucking epic headbang at 2:15

  • GENIUSNESS!!!!!!! SNES!!

  • this is crazy to watch when you're high.. O_O

  • Damn, this may be one of the best songs I've ever heard.

  • Very Odd song from Anamanaguchi, but great!

I love the music solo at the minute 5:23

  • The power of rock renders the laws of the world useless. He dosent need air because rock is on his side.

  • Good God, this is catchy!

  • Final Boss Battle music. Also, it kind of makes me think of the song Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) by Arcade Fire. Anyone else think that?

  • 3:38 My god, It's full of stars!

  • nobody missed the like button

  • zero dislikes ftw

  • Whenever I hear this song, I don't picture mermaids or anything like that. I always picture some kind of epic final battle with a giant death machine.

  • @QuestionReality1223

There is no picture of sounds.

  • @StoneandHoodie

But sounds can make you picture things.

  • @dionarapthevicious lolololol so you play chrono cross...

  • If no one could tell they made the sprites based off River City Ransom sprites. Not all of it just more of the body. nothing like them swimming down or anything.

  • IT LOOKS LIKE A FISH

  • again, this seems like a sequel to the last song, which in turn seems like a sequel to the song before THAT.

  • I love chiptune, especially the hard, raw sounding songs. Anamanaguchi being one of my favorites.

  • Black Bass 4 eva!

  • 8 minutes of spacing out =w=

  • Anyone else think it sounds like someone's beating a well-tuned cat at 6:07?

  • I love the part starting at 4:17

  • 0.0 am i high? fuck it, whooooaw

  • Reminds a lot of Metroid at the begining.

  • FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST BOSS EVER

  • I love the way it looks like he's moonwalking into the screen at 0:36

  • I saw this live. People were literally jumping up and down, it was awesome.

  • Music video DVD w/ remixed 5.1 Surround Sound anyone?

  • Guaranteed to bring out your 'Air Drummer'.

  • Try Helix Nebula. It has the same effect on me every time!

  • @Sataaa airbrushed

  • @Sataaa Your mom has the same effect on me every time. Ahh just playin, helix neb rocks

  • @Sataaa Yeah Helix Nebula is the shit! Downloaded it onto my phone through app.. I cant get enough of its awesomeness

  • @MisterBritish

How about your 'Air Conductor' as well? :D

  • @MisterBritish

agreed! screw air guitar; Air Drumming FTW!

  • TREASURE CHEST OF PSYCHEDELICNESS!!

  • 4:15 epic

  • @wobbleknob lol u counted..?

  • @ImNotaWalrus basically yeah D=... i was really bored haha

  • best song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow thankyou!

  • awesome song

  • nice song, but I hope I don't get epilepsy =P

  • they don't need a singer i would just take away from the 8 bit

  • good call

  • @FlesshGordon

    Yeah you would

  • @FlesshGordon these guys, like many other talented artists and composers, can tell amazing stories just with music alone

  • @FlesshGordon You do realize this isn't even entirely 8-bit? I mean...there's guitars and drums >_>;

  • @Era0fGames Obviously, but even if there is drums, guitar, and bass, its really easy to hear the main focus of the sound is 8 bit, dur.

  • @Zombielolcats I'm just saying it wouldn't be that bad/bizarre if they had a singer; because it's not even entirely chiptune in the first place. After all, Rainbow In The Dark, another song by Anamanaguchi, already has vocals.

  • I tend to think of their music as being made of "sounds" and adding a voice is kind of too... pure? obvious? It doesn't fit, whatever the phrase I'm searching for may be. Maybe a highly computerized voice, but those sound pretty gross... What were you thinking of?

  • I can definitely see how it's too obvious. But I'm thinking something like the "Seven More Minutes" album by the Rentals, or almost anything by Bang Gang. Again, female and male alternating depending on the song. Voices don't improve all music, but people who think they have no business in electronic music (period) need to go back to the basics with Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Karl Bartos (solo), and Devo. Also Laptop, Freezepop, and Royksopp.

  • The band Cynic seems to pull off computerized voices pretty well with a vocoder, but I'd have to agree I don't think vocals would fit Anamanaguchi.

  • i do like some instrumentals and i like anamanguchi but i agree it would be neat to hear a song or two with vocals, but they also make great music how it is...

  • aka postal service

  • anamanaguchi does NOT need a vocolist if they want to keep fans like me

  • Holy Shit! This is badass

  • best one of them all.

  • i agree, this and jetpack blues sunset hues are my favourites!

  • mmm, im sorry is this sounds dumb but, do they have only two albums?, im finally knowing them and they are great!

  • Yes, only two real albums. But some of their other songs (that do not belong to any album) are still around. Like their cover of Weezer's Suzanne.

  • @Sataaa

    I believe it's a cover of Holiday.

Maybe my tracks are tagged wrong, or they've done both.

  • @Sataaa they have a new FREE album on their website

  • @vakama94

    visit their homepage.

they are realising a new single every 2 weeks and a bunch have already been released. you can stream it for free

  • @vakama94 Two albums 14 songs beacuse each one has 7 songs or 8 . Plus the soundtrack of scott pilgrim that i count has an album wich has 43 songs ! and the singles . I have all their songs and they are 63 ;)

  • Best song in the album, period!

  • I always pictured this song to be about a Submarine accident, in which the submarine was called 'mermaid'...

    But this is fitting two.

  • Before Dawn Metropolis was out I listened to Power Supply and imagine video clips for it. The interest thing is that it always was something like these videoclips. Like the airbase song. In my head it was all about just a guy flying around in a jet. Kind of like Blackout City is, only instead of a bike, a jet.

  • Same for me (I imagined them two) but, with Airbase, for me it was always some awesome'd up version of Sonic 1 (GG)'s Skybase level :P.

Though I thought Anamanaguchi's Power Supply album was slightly underrich compared to Dawn Metropolis (the sound and themes are so much more clear), so it wasn't very subscepible to my imagination, if you catch my drift.

  • after listening to it i can kind of see the submarine accident thing....

  • SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT this is some heavy trip shit man

  • trippy....

  • Very Nice, I really like the trippy colors.

    feels good man.

  • I think this song just dethroned Jetpack Blues as my favorite.

  • It is, isn't it. Also this song is the only one of the album not created by Peter.

  • grand song =)
