@TheStare251 You are wrong my friend, The Quran does not say that earth is flat but incredibly it describes the exact shape of the earth وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٲلِكَ دَحَٮٰهَآ [Quran 79:30]. The word دَحَٮٰهَآ - "Dahaha" refers to "An egg or spherical shape." And as you know the earth is not an exact circle but its a bit buldged form the sides, just like an egg.

He is using a ton of "Perhaps" and "Suppose" here, but nothing remotely concrete. This doesn't prove the EXISTENCE of "God", it argues on behalf of supposition. As lectures go, it isn't bad...but it's nothing stellar either. A good argument - or debate - contains FACTUAL EVIDENCE coupled with critical thinking that represents both sides of the coin. This lecture was nothing more than "I'm right, because I say I'm right", with a lot of hocus-pocus.

As humans, we've always taken the practical approach in assuming that what we cant see, hear, touch or smell in fact isn't there. BUT, in religion we abandon our intuition and our sense of reasoning. Why?

Such considerations would have been primative by today's standards, but it took people deciding that religion did not have the answers (I would say none of the answers) to bring the Dark Ages to a close and begin the period known as the Renissance.

@Cannonfodder69 the Dark Ages in Europe was not the Dark ages in the Arab world. Infact they very much advanced during this time. The Arabs in that time put religion before anything else that's what made them prosper.
1001inventions(dot)com is a site which shows some of the Invention by Arabs at time. You will find that some of roots of some modern inventions came during the Dark Ages in Europe.

@safraz139 I agree that at the time, the Islamic world was more advanced in matters of science, particularly architecture, medicine, ship-building and others, during Europe's dark ages. But to paraphrase a famous line: "what have you done for us recently?"
When Europe went through the Renissance, they have kept going in leaps and bounds. The Arabic world however, languishes behind in comparison.

@Cannonfodder69 just because u know christianity doesnt mean u can assume islam is the same. islam does not hold science back and neither is islam the opposite of science.
it is because of islam that the muslims started to make great advances in science (e.g. astronomy as dr naik says in this video)
the dark ages in europe was the time it was the golden age of science in the islamic world !!!

@Cannonfodder69 Muslim scientists made tremendous progress in applied as well as theoretical Science and Technology. In Europe, however, the situation was much different. Europe was in the Dark Ages. It had no infrastructure or central government. To the Muslims, Europe was backward, unorganized, carried no strategic importance and was essentially irrelevant. This considering the time period was in fact true.

@shenglongx And as I said before, and continue to say, look at how the Middle East compares to the West in terms of science. When was the last time you saw a major breakthrough come out of that region of the world?
The Arabic world for centuries now has suffered their own dark age due to adherence to dogma and fundamentalism. Hopefully in time the grip of religion will fade in the region and people everywhere can reap the benefits of the advances of science and modern technology.

@Cannonfodder69 u r right i agree wit u, hardly anything positive has been allowed out of the middle east since the fall of the ottoman empire and it being divided up amongst the brits, french n americans, aswell as the illegal state of israel. i dont think installing puppet dictators such as saddam and the current wars the west wages there help much in the matter either as does the western arrogance towards anything foriegn being of poorer quality

@Cannonfodder69 suffered for centuries no, this is a misconception the west has. Only during the past 110 years has there been suffering...which is about the time after ww1 when the west took control of the middle east.
previously to this the ottoman empire ruled for 600 years and there was peace and unity amongst all religions in the middle east.

To say that God made the Big Bang happen is like the native Indians saying that rain was made by their God. Just because you don't understand something you should not cop out and say God made it so. It's as ignorant as saying stars are holes in the blanket of night, which was accepted at one time.

Well I'm convinced! All religion is completely stupid! Even if the earth is not completely spherical it's not egg-shaped. And it has no meaning even if it was. The mayans knew about planets in the solar system that can't be watched from earth so they had some techniqe to know this, still unknown to us. And they sacrificed each other like mad men. This is silly just like all religious peoples so-called proof of their God. Totally unscientific.

I don't know Arabic, Hebrew or any other middle-eastern language. So I can't look up the verses in the Quran. But I can tell you that the Ancient Greeks new and had thought about all of this long before Islam, Muhammed, Christianity or even Judaism.

Also everything the ancient Greeks mentioned was not true. If you believe that Quran was copied from them why does it not contain the stuff which were proven to be false later on(Like the Earth was Flat)?? Because the Quran is from GOD which was only revealed to Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)

@safraz139 The Greeks knew the world was a round ball. They saw ships sail over the edge of the horizon and saw the round shadow the earth cast on the moon
The problem of measuring the size of the earth was solved by a Greek scholar named Eratosthenes (er-uh-TAS-theh-neez) who lived in north Africa about 250 BC
