  • JUS GOT THE 45 SO SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

  • this is way better than the other versions!

  • my dad had me look it up and I listen to it on my MP3

  • it's no Ben E. King, or Cassius Clay but good version

  • Somebody bootlegged this record out in SOCAL about 1972 on one of

the late night (Mexican transmitted) Soul stations, we was just in awe of

this version, 'specially the part where he "does" Smokey's original "I'll try something

    new"........doesn't miss a beat.

  • I LOVE THIS VERSION

  • Marker: 4-30-11 (28,573) 11:13pm edt

  • MARKER: 4-30-11 (28,540)

  • A DJ on WHAT in Philly by name of Lee Garrett first played this- his distinction was that he was the first blind DJ in the area.

  • The REAL Spyderman.

  • SLAMZ A BEER

  • At the time this record came out, the DJs said that this was the greatest "imitation" record ever. I have no reason to doubt this assessment today.

  • What more can I say? Rather than simply cover this song, Spyder Turner truly made it his own! Absolutely my favorite version of STAND BY ME!

  • i remember this. what great memories, house parties, first loves...larry mckinley on wyld and shelley pope on wbok and late night listening to the stations out of memphis and nashville cuz that was the only time the reception was good.n

  • This cat still got it! Everyone oughta go out and see him sing!

  • OLDIES RULE 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  • i loved this song as a youngster,so glad to hear it again

  • Bought this 45 @ Chet's Record Shop on South Liberty Ave. in Alliance, Ohio in 1967, and I still got it !

  • thanks for posting i couldn't find this song anywere!!this song f!@$n rules

  • Great. Thanks for posting.

  • cklw in detriot back in the 60's was the best radio station ever for the motown sound ,nothing today comes close, wish there was a station that played more of that music ,its still so nice to listen to.

  • One of my favorites, I love the way he gives "props" to all the ol' vocalists. From the smooth Sam Cook to the much under rated Billy Stewart! Man, Chuck Jackson, Smokey, all the Temps! I love them all!

  • .How did I ever forget all aboutt this song. thank you so much for sharing!

I still have the 45 stached away.

  • I love both versions too!

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....i like the original version way better...........

  • Spyder Turnner puts more funk in it than Ben King but I love them both. Go Boy!

  • So much fun

  • yeah blujay, now 105.7 is playin garbage most of the time.

  • what are the call letters for the 105.7 you are referring to. There is a 105.7 in Green Bay, Wi., but they are classic rock. If I knew the town or call letters, I might be able to find them on the internet.

  • Are you thinking of WMJI Majic 105.7 in Cleveland?

  • Could the 105.7 have been from Baltimore? There was once a great oldies station there: I understand that

    they changed the format.

  • I remember listening to this song back in Cleveland on Soul Radio Stations such as WJMO and WABQ. Brings back lots of memories.

  • wow..impressive:)

  • As far as i,m concerned, his is the classic version!!!

  • i feel he captured everybody perfect except ruffin prolly cause he had a 1 of a kind voice but still absolutely great song

  • I just love this version and this song period. Thanks for posting

  • I remember this when I was in the second grade (1966-67).

  • I can't find this version on any digital music serviice. Anyone know where I can find an MP of this great vesion of the song?

  • Great question.

  • If you can get Microsoft Plus! SuperPack for windows,There a program in it called Plus!Analog Recoder That will record anything to your Media Player.

  • brilliant ! Thanks Tibia - much appreciated

  • Spyder will be at the Wenona Park Bandshell in Bay City Michigan on Wednesday July 15th. What a great way to enjoy a summer evening!

  • I used to listen to this as a boy since Spyder was big here in Detroit. This song is like what Norman Rockwell used to do with paintings; he'd paint masterpieces within his paintings, often several of them. Masterpieces within a masterpiece. That's what Spyder does here.

  • The Smokey Robinson impression...... AWESOME!!!! Thanks for posting this!

  • looked for this a long time...thanx

  • best version flat out

  • 2:02 jackie wilson might say

  • probably one of the songs from the late

    60s that i haven't heard...thanks:)

  • @soulmusic247 Wow, your channel is really something!

  • I love this song by Spyder and brings back memories...:)

  • Hey Speed, What's up man, been missing you. Come on around and see me, or let me know where you are. Miss Momma's birthday party. Love you you main man and your first body guard who twist his ankle Philadelphia at Uptown Theatre.

  • I remember listening to this on the radio back in the 60's. I was living in Cleveland at the time.

  • Great song! This brings me back to the 5th grade. I love the 60's soul music. Keep up the good work.

  • Thank you for posting. I remember having a copy of this on a 45 and i wore it out back in the 60s. Great version. - Sid
