  • y cant u just go get a book from a music store with fingerings in the back so u dont have to watch this...its much easier

  • thanks you helped alot!! now i can play my new notes at skeww.. imma girl btw

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit when you see this video you are just solist like so simple

  • my bell sais 'blessing' on it and is bigger than all my friends other Clarinets. the Clarinet in general is larger any idea why?

  • can you play pink panther??

  • Thank you so much for all of the helpful tips!!!

You are very mature for your age :))

  • teach us marry had a little lamb

  • It's not an octave key!! Register key******

Sorry, lol, I'm just mad cause the saxophone players get a key that makes them go up an octave. Clarinets don't.

Great tutorial by the way. It's always good to see more people interested in the clarinet.

  • @MrSloppy95 i know huh its really hard to get a Bnatural

  • @MrSloppy95 lol saxophones have an idiot-proof key ;P

  • @crazitaco lmao very funny. B/

  • i love the clarinet

  • u forgot to mentioned the corkgris lol idk how to spell it lol

  • most people use the A and register key (octave key) to play Bflat. all the clarinet players in the band at my school (30-40clarinet players) use the A and register key to play Bflat

  • Using the alternative fingering for Bflat should only be used for trills from A to b flat, and when you dont have to go to the upper register. Use the main fingering more than the alternative

  • dats not an alternitve key for b flat

  • @paigee13214 yes it is. it actually is more in tune.

  • I play clarinet too!

I'm in the Cal Hi marching band

  • Thats not the high B flat, im not trying to be a smart ass but that will get confusing for new players. Call it middle B flat or in the staff b flat.

Its an okay video. I think you need to word everything better.

  • wait wait r u telling me that a bb clarinet is difrent o.o cause im seeing other vids and it says that little thing on top of e note is a and ur saying its b but with the pointer o.O

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @itsmespeedo It's A with just the button over the E...it's Bb with the register (on the back over the F hole)

  • I have a jupiter brand clarinet to . There decent but can yu make a tortorial onhow to play high notes please.

  • I just want to give you some tips. Well, one tip. Because thats all i can think of. I notice that you just lay your fingers over the tine holes juust, casually if you like to say. But when you play try to center your fingers more directly on top of the tone holes instead. This will insure that you never have air leaking from your fingers and will make it easier when you start to play songs with quick passages. Hope you try it. -Taylor

  • Hey littlesdchick how do I breath when I'm playing a song????

  • You have a decent clarinet i see. I hope you use it well. If im not mistaken from what i saw that is a buffet right?

I got a selmer 10S special edition with an extra key and it handles around well. I have yet to find any songs that you play because i would like to hear your playing.

Ive been playing for 10 years now and i would like to remember how it is to be on the start :P

  • @HunterZ20 Well, it's actually Jupiter brand. Not many people have heard of that though. And buffet is a nice clarinet :D. Well, this video is quite old and I've been playing almost 5 years now, though your 10 definitely beats that. I'll try and post soon! Thanks for commenting!

  • @littlesdchick

np :) well thats really nice. I Just keep practicing and im sure your gonna be a superb klarinetist :)

  • wow your very good!

  • Well i am in band but i dont play clarinet and i am going to swich

  • Like how do you find a good clarinet

  • @jaclyncountrychick If you're in band ask your band teacher what a good one would be for you. If you are a beginner, try renting a clarinet to see if you like it first. If you aren't in band, look it up on the internet and I'm sure you'll find some good results! And also, go to a local music store and they'll usually let you try it out! Good luck!!

  • You should get Essential Elements 2000. All of their books are great. They have fingering charts, and songs that you recognize. My school uses them to teach. I taught myself flute and alto saxophone with those books, and trumpet.

  • hahahahah this video is funny considering I've been playing for like 6-7 years.. lol good job though ^.^

  • nice...

clarinet gonna be my lifetime achievement and i can't find any teacher around.

so glad you come around :D

    thank you so much

  • You're a great teacher-lol

You explain things well!!!! can you acctually play some songs to us..... not just to tell us about them!?!?! I still like it! ty !!! :D

  • How do you play the High C cause i need to play the song Star Wars with the high C

  • @Spikitect4ever95 As in the fingering? By high C I think you mean the register key and the thumb key.

  • its like high b but without the left pinky

  • Keep up the good work littlesdchick. You have more guts than I do posting videos and I've been playing clarinet for 35 years.

P.S. I know you meant to say register key and not octave key. So there's no point in anyone else pointing that out.

  • @tl1358 Thanks for the comment :D

  • thanks sd chick..all your vids are really helpful and i understand what your saying..i just strated the clarinet this week...but i play the piano too :) for now i know how to put the clarinet toghether and how to play c d e f g :) thanks and keep uploading

    ellie :]

  • i play the clarinet ^^

we have played a bunch of songs like hang on sloopy

    our school fight song

    let it snow

and a bunch of others ^^

  • Great video but you should make some for more advance players like me ( high notes) that be great

  • good work

  • Oooops .... the "octave" key? You mean "register" key, ehhh?

THIS tutorial, by the way, is EXCELLENT!! This is GREAT!!! I thought I was the only one who thought the fingering for B and Bb were odd ....

  • I need help playing high c on my clarinet and i'm not sure what it sound like.

Can you show me high c?

  • Yes I can, but I'm actually going in order on the notes, so we'll be there in a little while. High C is the octave key and the thumb if you need the fingering.

  • get to da point u talk alot but its good i can play the clarinet really well but clarinet sucks i found that out after playing it but i couldnt switch it

  • HURRY UP YOU TALK A LOT

  • the octave key ?? no its said the register key . and you dont say button you say key.

  • Yeah, I messed up saying the octave key. Some people have pointed that out. Thanks for the comment!

  • can you stop talking and come on

  • Can you show which note on the music corresponds to which note on the clarinet please?

  • So, teach how to read music?

  • okay im performing in a trio like in 4 months and i can play the low notes but i have a high not part but im not to keen on the A B G high notes so what advice would you give because i cant make the sound

  • Keep your embouchure tight, make sure your reed is wet, make sure your fingers are completely covering the holes, make sure you aren't squeezing too hard with your mouth... there are a lot of things you can do, but the high notes are really hard to do at first! Good luck!!! You're going to do awesome!

  • can u play a normal A so I can know

  • heyy what clarinet do you have?

  • thanks soo much ! (:

yoou really helped & made my day (:

  • No problem! So glad I could help!!!

  • could you tell me what the metal parts surrounded by it do?

  • Which metal parts are you talking about?

  • hi sorry to bother you but i am in band and today i picked clarinet so ill be watching A LOT of your clarinet videos

  • that's awesome!

  • please help me read music im a beginer just got my clarinet two days ago

  • My greatest advice is to practice, practice, practice. It really does help. Then check out all of my tutorials to learn some notes and a song. :D

  • i dont no how to read music

  • When I have time, I'll teach it in a video. If you want to learn earlier google it. I'm sure it'll come up!

  • Go to Ebay and search for "Essential Elements 2000 Bb Clarinet Book 1". The band at my school uses these to teach everyone how to play. I taught myself saxophone and flute with it. There is a different book for each instrument. Be sure to get PART 1, NOT PART 2 OR 3.

  • Thanks, this helped me a lot

  • what does it look like on paper??

  • Unfortunately I can't show that on comments. Try looking it up on google.

  • do u think u can make a tutorial on the high notes that comes after the high b flat (including b natural)

  • Once I get to that place with all of the beginners I will. :) Thanks for the comment.

  • yeah

  • i think you should play it just to know if the sound i make its the same that you produce

  • I thnk that's the next not I'm teaching so it won't be long.

  • i have been playing the clarinet for about 2 years now, but can i ask:

I know the low notes, but i want to know if you have a tutorial on the high notes (like upper register?)

    thanks!

  • Yes, I'll make a tutorial but it might take awhile because I'm going in order for the beginners. :)

  • random question but is there a fingering for a super low D... as in D below the lowest E?? because in my scale study, there's a super low D and I have to play it for a test:S

    can anyone help?? thanksss

  • I'm pretty sure low E is the lowest note on the clarinet. Sorry.

  • thanks... i just messed around with it and now it founds really messed lol

  • Thanks!!

  • Does anybody know if the coloured clarinets on ebay are any good?

  • My friend in band got a pink clarinet and it didn't even go together properly. We triend using cork grease and it still didn't work. From what I've seen and heard, I wouldn't reccomend it.

  • its kewl how u want to help people with their clarinet issues and maybe u can help me when i get my clarinet next year.

  • Thanks, I appreciate the comment.

  • i need to work on the time zone

  • i need to work on time zone on clarinet

  • Yeah work on your stamina , big help I use the blue book . I don't have it on me but it has some really good excercises for warmups and precision based tongueing.

  • Thanks!

  • I used to play clarinet for 3 years, but I just forgot everything^^.I founded bass more attractive. However u look capable,I hope best for you.

  • Yes the sound of the bass clarinet is very nice. Thanks for the comment!

  • lol this is so easy im 1st chair and im in 6th grade i can play the chromatic 2 im in festival as well im 1 of the 5 6th graders in festival.

  • Yes, wow that's awesome!

  • i know how to play all notes even the high notes its so hard but im first chair but i can handle it. we are playing the tempest, celtic air and dance, condrom, rockolgy, twist and shout, and royal march its so hard

  • I remember playing Tempest and Air and Dance as well. Do you have the version of tempest with a ton of "A"s?

  • yes an it is hard did u have a hard time

  • Rhythms in general were very hard for me at first. The A's got a little tiring though haha

  • lol well im going to school bue

  • Learning music is hard. Instead of "B" and "A flat major" and all that, why don;t they just name the notes real names. Like "Dave" or "Chuck"

  • Haha that would be funny.

  • arggg this is gna confuse me :S its 4 down from the sax i think

  • Yeah it's difficult to start a new instrument. Good luck!

  • good stuff. i've played flute and piano for a while, and im just starting clarinet.

  • That's awesome! I'm pretty sure flute takes a lot more air. You think so?

  • surprisingly, clarinet takes more out from the lungs from the flute...at least, for me.

  • Really? that's surprising. I don't know if my theory is true but I've heard.

  • the people who told you that are probably idiots. : (

  • haha

  • you r good

  • Thanks so much!

  • ya i though i was pretty good but ur also great!

  • I know the notes but when I press down on all keys the air is hard to come out

  • That will happen a lot when you're first beginning. Just keep practicing!

  • There is no octive key in clarinet thats in saxaphone. What your thinking of is called a registor key.

  • Yes, some people have reminded me of that. Sorry I made the mistake and thanks for clearing it up!

  • Thanks for clearing that up. As advanced as I am in clarinet, isn't it pretty pathetic I forgot what they're called. LOL

  • haha, no problem!

  • It's not an octave key, it's actually a "register key". If it were an octave key, and you were playing a middle C, if you pressed the "octave key", you would play a high C. But this is not the case. You would end up playing a high G.

  • Yes someone else mentioned this too. I accidentally said the wrong thing but thanks for pointing it out! I'll make sure I say register next time.

  • Yes! I thought I was the only one how played Bb with the octave key and those side keys (don't remember what they're called). Well, I'm the only one in my band who plays Bb that way.

  • Thanks for watching!!

  • what are the notes to yankee doodle?

  • I'm not really sure but maybe I'll teach it later on.

  • how do u play a high b?

  • This is easier to understand if you watch it in the video so please do but it is: Six fingers, octave key, thumb, and one of the side keys. Please watch the video for the side key because it's hard to explain in writing.

  • No problem anytime!!!

  • ok well to start off ur doing rlly well but it would help alot to play the notes and pieces that u use in ur tutorials. i am a clarinetist myself and i suggest that u explain more about the clarinet and that u rlly connect with ur veiwers. ive noticed tht u tend to cover the keys on the lower joint a little too much so i think u should work on tht. its a rlly good vid.idk wat grade ur in but i think tht u should explain wat some of the dynamics r so viewers can see how it sounds.its a great vid!

  • Yes, I think someone else told me that too. I actually didn't realize I didn't play it and I completely agree with you so thank you! Thanks so much for watching!! I'll take your advice!

  • not bad not bad but i dont even know much about clarinet i just like lookin at the tutorials lol

  • Thanks for the comment!

  • Very nice vid. You have the knack for teaching, but I beleive that you should play the notes you teach through yourself, as to show other learners what their notes should sound like. Perhaps even play the pieces through aswell.

Just a side note - isnt showing those pieces in the book on the internet illegal?(copywright laws and stuff)

Feel free to delete this comment. It was meant as constructive criticsm, not to make you look bad :-) as I have already said, it is a VERY good vid ^_^

  • Thanks so much!! yes i'll do that!

I don't know actually... but that's why I haven't really been doing it lately.

  • thanks a bunch. i paly clarinet for school band and learning these notes can get me a bit ahead of the game and try to play favorite songs. your tutorials are very well explained by the way.

  • Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed!

  • thanx a lot for your tutorials. they'v really helped me. this is my first day ever using a clarinet and i'm already catching on thanx to u =D

  • No problem! I'm glad you enjoyed.

  • No problem!! Thanks for watching!

  • I quit the Flute back at the end of middle school. Now I want to write symphonies and I can't....... >_> !!!!!! SO FRUSTRATING! ARGH! Learn from my mistake. Don't do the same thing. Thanks for the video(s).

  • Hi, thank you very much for your 2 tutorials. I found a clarinet on a yard sale las week and I thought....why not? those two videos are being really helpful, when are you completing the trilogy? PLEASE, Thanks again.

  • Thanks so much!! I am so glad you are trying the clarinet... I will be continuing soon

  • i JUST GOT MY CLARINET AND I REALLY DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING COULD YOU TEACH ME SOME MORE STUFF PLEASE THANK YOU

  • Yes! Have you seen part one? If you have already, more are coming!

  • You have to be the cutest, sweetest clarinet teacher in the world! Give yourself a hug for me! I think you have a great idea here, the only thing I would suggest to improve it is more demonstration of the ideas rather than spending a whole lot of time talking about it. Looking forward to more!

  • Thank you so much!! It means a lot to me. Okay, I will try and demonstrate more.

  • thank you for the lesson :)

  • No problem!!

  • i watched the first clarinet vid. and you didn't teach F sharp so ya!

  • Oh okay... I wasn't sure, but thanks! I saw your comment!!

  • So people have been giving you good comments? your actaully really good.

    Keep Up The Good Work

  • Thank you so much!!

  • Nice trying to explain its a good video. if your going to do te middle Bb , make sure to add the fourth key on the side otherwise it soundss out of tune. The only reason not too if u cant hit when your playing fast notes

  • Thank you so much!! Yeah it is pretty hard to do the Bb sometimes if you play it with the side key

  • looks complicated

  • Actually it isn't really... it is actually pretty easy... except at first it is hard to get a sound

  • thanks for the lesson! i really enjoyed watching your video. post more! i also think you are really pretty and you have really nice smooth skin and stunning hands! you go, girl! xxx

  • No problem! Thank you so much!!!! I posted one more video besides this one so far and I will be posting more soon. Thanks you!!!!!!
