It couldnt work well, the basic idea is a "nonsense".
The peltier effect just transforms the temperature differences into the electricity. You cant get rid of thermal energy of the system by adding the external electric energy, all you can do is to use peltier electricity to increase the speed of fans - which is unsufficint. Thats why this construction work poor, almost like an ordinary "non-peltier" CPU cooler.
A great CPU cooler (expensive) but don't expect the fan to last more than 3 years. I just replaced my fan with a 3.5" case fan which can't be controlled as it lacks the same wiring as the original fan. In the process of replacing the fan, the red wire connected to the temp probe broke off which rendered the control unit useless because I had to disconnect it to stop the high temp. alarm. Its now just a heat sink without the peltier cooling but still works well. I just can't overclock cpu.
those are surprisingly bad temps.. i get better temps on a 6 core at 4.1ghz with the fans on silent mode with a corsair A70.at idle my temps are about 1 degree above room temperature... and prime 95 temps are no more than 45 degrees.
hey guys my cpu is ALWAYS like 60 degrees or like minimum ive seen like 56 is it the programs fault or my cpu broken or sth i use speccy to detect my cpu temperature (of course it is average temperature put im worried did they sell false shit to me from store i spent like 999 dollars on it (i spent 9999 krooni on it acctually put 1 dollar is 10.sth krooni from the time i last checked and my guarantee is yet for like 1 year and 11 months and like 10 days or so
@raino1000 Specy seems diffrent from other programs like speed fan and cupid in terms of the way it measures temperatures , i get 50+ on cupid and speed fan but 60+ on speccy , so maybe its specy's fault , anyway dont worry normal core 2 duos are made to take temperatures of up to 80 degrees , gamming ones limit will go beyond a 120 degrees , so theres no chance you processor will break down anytime soon.
@wuhlei You can only draw that conclusion if all other components other then the variable are constant. You also need to state more in depth information regarding your test if you want to discredit the posted results.
I invented a breakthrough energy source which violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $30 000 for a prototype and for $3M for patents. Making a 15 kW generator will cost $1200 in mass production, value of the energy produced yearly about $10 000.
im thinking either this or the coolmaster v8. I think im leaning towards the v8 only cause to me this seems more bout the looks and display than the actual cooling of the cpu. Im sure it works fine...but i think the v8 will do a better job without the...flash...i guess you could say...any ideas...or is this really better than the v8? Keep in mind im going for a "best bang for the buck" type build. Ty
@Shadownian helo, i got a core i5 750, put a v8 on it ang overclocked it to 4GHz.... on full load, it got to 68 degree Celsius.. and im in the philippines and its pretty hot here.. but i use a airconditioner on my room.. great cooler and its cheap too.. btw, im using antec fomula 5 thermal paste.. :)
also, dont buy this - go for liquid cooling. ive heard people complain about the fan noise, and also, when the cpu is under load, the fan will make a much louder noise and will become unbearable after some time. go for liquid cooling. dual rad or higher ;)
Yes spirit it'll work, the only difference between the AM2/AM2+ and AM3 is the socket design, the cooler bracket is the same for all 3, so it should work. Your welcome :D
That may have been, 5 years ago, but with modern overlocked CPUs producing upwards of 200 watts of heat, the 60 watt TEC in a heat-sink never beats even a basic liquid cooling systems. You are right on the second point though, the 260 watt TEC swiftech water-block is the only option for sub ambient temperatures short of a cascade cooler, dry ice or liquid nitrogen.
What a dumbass design for a TEC. They put heatpipes on the cold surface plate that touches the cpu (look @ 2.07). That just makes it so the TEC has to chill the heatsink being heated up by the hot side AND the cpu.
WOW. That is simply WAYYY too high for that cooler. I just have a cheap old aluminum heastink with a 120mm fan on it and i get less than that at load with a q6600, and he isn't even testing it with a quad. Am I misunderstanding something here?
this cpu cooler is the best. i have a Q9400 stock 2.66ghz and 1333 fsb and i have got it running stable at 3.4ghz and 1700 fsb and it idles at 26 and stay around there even playing some video game but some if you have good ram with heat pipes are heat dispencers it will not fit under the fan
had cooler 4 ova 6 months, good cooler. using a MX-1 thermal paste on a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3GHz, overcloked 2 3.4GHZ and with the heat off its idle temp is betwen 19 2 21C. Max 30-31C with Crysis, good cooler. But in sum wayz i think diz cooler could of bin a liquid setup. Think bout it its like a radiator grillz, fan, pipes. All dey needed was 2 run tubes a small pump an a lil container wit coolin solution, diz could of bin liuid an fan cooled. Jus me thinkin, but good cooler.
Nice review but i think i would rather take the risk and get a coolit freezone elite. Far better cooling (13c on a stock q6600 21c ambient) but its a little risky if the pump failed or a line broke. if they made it with non-conductive fluid i would really be happy.

Wow, you're not stupid, you're a retarded asshole. I never said you were talking about the ad, retard. Why the fuck would youtube allow people to show where the intro of some of their videos starts and ends? What fucking purpose does it serve? It's a way to tell people "hey, we're about to put up a fuckin ad. We just wanted to tell you so as not to disturb your fucking video experience" Idiot.
Although, you are right about the ad. Sometimes not though. For the most part though, you are correct about the yellow bar. I just assumed it was to signal the end of the intro because sometimes the ads don't pop up for me.
I have this cooler and its awesome. It comes with brackets for like 4 diff chip sets. You can look it to see if it will work with yours. My temps are 24-30c (80f) on idle and like 34-40c on peak. I have actic silver 3 on the chip aswell. Would deff recommend. Bes cooler I've had.
i dont understand...my display says 33c but on bios its 40c if i use speed fan driver is says 36? which one is more accurate which is the actual temp on cpu not mobo..????
not to be a buzz kill, but my only arguement with thermo electric cooler or "Peltier" device is that when you turn a pc off... condensation hits the cpu unit, and the cpu unit gets hot
Yep Quad....it runs around 35C with my Q9450 at 100%. If it's 100% for more than an hour then it'll go up a little more but nothing horrid. I don't overclock much anymore tho, so I can't speak for it.
I can't believe ppl are still using these. Logic will tell you all this will do is yes cool your CPU but create additional heat to heat the inside of your case. Without decent airflow this is a very bad idea.
without decent airflow, any air cooler is a bad idea. I had a ThermalTake DuOrb in my case before and under load my CPU was reaching about 61C. I bought the Vigor Monsoon II TEC and my CPU runs at about 38C under 100% load and the hot air runs straight outta the back of my case via 120mm fan right behind it so I think the logic is just fine with these. It's better than that damn DuOrb that was blowing the hot air directly onto the motherboard. I only have a 650W PSU and it works fine...
is the management unit the size of a floppy drive ore a dvd drive bay someone answer me ,i ordered this and im getting nervous because my 2dvd drive bays r filled up.
since i recently had a scare with my water pump going out on my zalman cooler i have been considering this alternative. very good and informative video here.
i have this cooler and one problem i have is say you wanted to swap the cpu out. you could but probally ruin your cpu pins cuss you can get to the level to get the cpu out
it depends what watercooling kit u are using look at his revew fo the Thermaltake Kandalf LCS Case he is using the same system to test evrything is identekel but the masive 360 mm radiator with 3 120 mm fans cools the cpu a lot better even than this TEC cooler
just thought I'd point out that an E6400 @ 3.2 GHz has no need for 1.52v. I can run my E6550 @ 3.4 GHz with 1.25v. that will greatly reduce heat production.
seriously, that stick figure is stupid... but its not that ugly. It caters to both whtie/silver and black cases by adding a touch of both. I personally do not like the flashing ULTRA logo and the stick figure, a solid ultra (or just a stationary white enscription on lower corner) and a moving gear instead of a stick figure...
There's also other manifacturers for those kind of front panels, such Sunbeam or Aerocool. They make nice bezels, white, black or silver panels but their displays are sooo stupid with those stick figures!!!
hey man im building a computer for school and the fan on my unit does not run when i first start the computer. i was wondering if the fan does not turn on until the temp rises?
its bc of you i found out about this product and its bc of you and also watching this vid to see what it was about etc. i got it ty you but plzz show it in a case doing the job that would b nice F.Y.I. for the ppl who are thinking about gettin the cooler its big so make sure u have the room
nice Rodny, you and youre videos are kick ass, as soon as i get some money ill donate thx for the reviews, youve been the best help while i was deciding what o buy and always used you review to see wic one suites me the best thx bro
looks very heavy.might bend the motherboard i am looking for a version of that thats is not that massive..i heard that vigor makes a version like that.Over all very nice review....................
Actually, I have the Vigor and even though this one looks cooler with the plates it has on the sides, they do exactly the same thing and same design underneath so there's really no difference at all... It's the exact same design so I don't know where you get that it doesn't have the design well thought out. And although it is heavy, the weight is distributed well so I don't see it damaging any motherboards at all...
Rodney! This thing looks sick...do you think it will out perform my Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro?? My load temps are around 50c-60c under load. I've been thinking of getting something Peltier-based and this thing seems to be a good, affordable solution. Think I'll be picking one up.

why didn't you get non-conductive coolant?
mikitymike 2 years ago
It seems like a good idea, but liquid cooling systems are more effective
Lvaneede 3 years ago
Not always. The cooling block is bigger then the cooler of a watercooling CPU block and also a difference is probably the price.
MugenRac1ng 3 years ago 2
Yeah, thats the thing about liquid cooling systems, they cost a lot
Lvaneede 3 years ago
liquid is fucking noisy!
j0vlad 3 years ago
no it isnt. Well at least the thermaltake kits arent.
Lvaneede 3 years ago
not to be a buzz kill, but my only arguement with thermo electric cooler or "Peltier" device is that when you turn a pc off... condensation hits the cpu unit, and the cpu unit gets hot
gcxe 3 years ago
I ordered one of these today. Can't wait!
ydna2 3 years ago 5
Did you install this on a quadcore?
what are your temps?
did you overclocked the cpu?
quincy965 3 years ago
Yep Quad....it runs around 35C with my Q9450 at 100%. If it's 100% for more than an hour then it'll go up a little more but nothing horrid. I don't overclock much anymore tho, so I can't speak for it.
ydna2 3 years ago
Does this fit inside an Nforce 750i motherboard? and is this product outdated?
poonsomenoobs 3 years ago
I can't believe ppl are still using these. Logic will tell you all this will do is yes cool your CPU but create additional heat to heat the inside of your case. Without decent airflow this is a very bad idea.
kleinmann321 3 years ago
without decent airflow, any air cooler is a bad idea.

If I find that the btf 90 doesnt do the trick this bad boy in so going in.
nissan300ztt 3 years ago
I want this so bad. but im settling for the BTF 90...not enough space in my tower.
nissan300ztt 3 years ago
this thing sucks. cooling performance is really good and compareable to watercooling but it sucks up so much power for the peltier effect.
dunlrock 3 years ago
so if you have a 750w psu, are you saying you will probably need to upgrade?
SwordMasterz2 3 years ago
uhhh... this cooler sucks up alot of watts from the 12v rail.... straight from molex
dunlrock 3 years ago
how does a thermoelectric cooling work?
viciokas1993 3 years ago

Can you put this in a Ultra Aluminus case? I want to know because I'm going to buy that case but it's mid size, and the chilltec is massive.
amvGhost 3 years ago
Works very well. Qx6700 at 3.2ghz without breaking a sweat on full 3d render

i have this cooler and one problem i have is say you wanted to swap the cpu out. you could but probally ruin your cpu pins cuss you can get to the level to get the cpu out
mikesmoove49 3 years ago
I can careless about the stick figure.... As long as my CPU stays cool, im fine!

its the best cooling fan right now.. and the big typhoon 120VX

is this better than a liquid cooling system?
samanthms123 4 years ago 3
it depends what watercooling kit u are using look at his revew fo the Thermaltake Kandalf LCS Case he is using the same system to test evrything is identekel but the masive 360 mm radiator with 3 120 mm fans cools the cpu a lot better even than this TEC cooler
A7Xunholyconfesions 3 years ago 2
just thought I'd point out that an E6400 @ 3.2 GHz has no need for 1.52v. I can run my E6550 @ 3.4 GHz with 1.25v. that will greatly reduce heat production.
halofreak2121 4 years ago 2
Your FSB voltage or Core cpu Voltage?.. I'm sure Rodney meaning the FSB voltage which is 1.52
juidas 3 years ago
i saw it as vcore @ 4:32, but FSB isn't out of the question, and it seems more reasonable
halofreak2121 3 years ago
The display is FUGLY, as usual. Can't they make a sleek, simply and nice LCD display?
samoht1977 4 years ago
seriously, that stick figure is stupid... but its not that ugly. It caters to both whtie/silver and black cases by adding a touch of both. I personally do not like the flashing ULTRA logo and the stick figure, a solid ultra (or just a stationary white enscription on lower corner) and a moving gear instead of a stick figure...
lard444 4 years ago 2
There's also other manifacturers for those kind of front panels, such Sunbeam or Aerocool. They make nice bezels, white, black or silver panels but their displays are sooo stupid with those stick figures!!!

yeah seriously dude lol

Good game my good sir! Love the outtakes, especially at 6:20! you remind me of Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire! :P
BiggousDickous 4 years ago
looks very heavy.might bend the motherboard i am looking for a version of that thats is not that massive..i heard that vigor makes a version like that.Over all very nice review....................
roonman111 4 years ago
Vigor makes one that is te same size but soesn't look as good and doesn't have the design thought put into the Ultra.
All Heatsinks are large and heavy, unless you go with Water cooling.
The weight is spread out over the Board Brakets so it's not as bad as it seems.
TorriesVideoSpace 4 years ago
Actually, I have the Vigor and even though this one looks cooler with the plates it has on the sides, they do exactly the same thing and same design underneath so there's really no difference at all... It's the exact same design so I don't know where you get that it doesn't have the design well thought out. And although it is heavy, the weight is distributed well so I don't see it damaging any motherboards at all...

It would be nice to see it in action. And you get a better idea about the size when you see it installed I think.

Rodney! This thing looks sick...do you think it will out perform my Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro?? My load temps are around 50c-60c under load. I've been thinking of getting something Peltier-based and this thing seems to be a good, affordable solution. Think I'll be picking one up.
