HAHAH.. the picture @ 5:55 caught me off guard and made me lose my shit.
It's probably already been said in the comments but the whole black people/chicken thing is really a non issue here in Australia. I get why Americans would view it as racist but the Australia equivalent would be a white guy handing out cheap boxed red wine to aboriginals.
@Awsomo666 you're a Briton so how would you know, just because we speak the same language doesn't mean a social and political histories are the same which is ultimately what this is all about
@Awsomo666 A) No, it doesn't... at all. Our 'cliche stereotypes' are aboriginals with their love of cheap wine and poms with their inability to handle ice cold beer. We're aware of the chicken stereotype from American shows/podcasts/other media but it's not one we use.
B) You're apparently in the UK so how the fuck would you know?
@RwmRose Coz they'e displaying ignorance of Australian culture you dumb fuck - the advert isn't even racist it's about some bloke being stuck on the opposite nation's side during a cricket match, who all happen to be black because they're from the West Indies WHERE EVERYONE IS BLACK! People putting their own assumptions onto a culture they know nothing about.
I was under the impression that EVERYONE liked chicken... I think the fact that people always try to mock black people with that is A) stupid as fuck and B) racist to the point where you are clutching at straws. I mean come on, are you REALLY going to pretend you dont like chicken because you want to throw "liking chicken" in someones face? PATHETIC!
I like how the adverts suggesting that a problems escalating. Like at any moment the black people are just going to start a riot. Theres a crowd of happy black peeps and a quaking white guy.
@musicman02 You just said "sensitive niggers" with no hint of sarcasm as though that is perfectly okay... its pretty obvious that YOU are that racist.
Its not racist because theres a white guy hanging with black people, its because he said it was awkward and the only way to settle every single black person around him was KFC. I have NEVER seen an advert where it says a white guy feels awkward when surrounded by white people.
you know I heard that women talking about popeyes chicken complaining about not enough chicken I was sayiong to my self why don tyou go somewhere else?
The ad represents real West Indians, from the West Indies, who are supporting their cricket team in the exuberant style they are affectionately known for amongst the cricketing nations.
I suppose when you view this ad through your American lenses, with all your racist and negative ideas about African Americans, maybe these West Indians do represent a negative stereotype. But Australians don’t have negative attitudes to West Indians and so this ad is not negative.
the point wasn't that blacks like fried chicken, who cares if they do.if they do,it shows god taste.the point was about it seeming like they were trying to say "look at all these crazy blacks i better calm them down with some fried chicken"
@osp80 - only if you dont understand the context of the commercial, this ad was only ever played during the International Test Match against West India. When an American gets hold of it and doesnt have a clue why or when it was played they automatically assume it must be racist.
@y9dnkbe the makers had to know the context, either that or it's the biggest coincidence ever.they had to have known the meaning just maybe not how offensive it is
@osp80 - What do you mean by context? the context of the Ad is that at that point in time the West Indians and Australians were sporting rivals, and the idea is that sharing KFC will alleviate the awkwardness of being the only fan of one team sitting among a larger number of the other teams fans. What do you believe the message of the commercial is?
@y9dnkbe that the makers of the commercial new of the black people and fried chicken stereotype, they either just thought they could get away with it since it's not known as much in australia or like i said the biggest coincidence ever
@osp80 - Are you assuming Americans stereotypes are common knowledge around the world? The stereotype isn't "black people and fried chicken", its "African Americans and fried chicken", huge difference to everyone (especially black people) not all black people in the world are African Americans - which i know is a shock to some people. The people in this ad are West Indians, and are clearly depicted as such, so weather it was known or not know simply doesn't matter
@osp80 Only if you're American and have no idea what is actually going on in the commercial. African Americans and West Indians are two completely different people, two completely different cultures. He's clearly not 'shaking chicken' to 'calm them'. You're view of whats happening in this commercial is totally fictional, in that you have made it up based on absolutely nothing that is being presented to you in it.
@osp80 Are you asking me to explain it to you, and then telling me what happened? The black people in the commercial are simply the 'opposing side'. The Ad takes place in West India, they are not in Australia. They are not 'rowdy' they are showing their support for their team (this is how people act at cricket matches, seriously). They aren't 'calmed' by the chicken, there is about 3 seconds of the West Indians and Aussie eating chicken together. Simple, not coincidental, not racist.
I'm an Aussie and next time Australia plays the Windies, I'm going to take a big bucket of food, and sit amongst the opposition and offer food to all the people around and say "too easy", to quieten them down.
Americans will say, "you'll get mugged". Aussies will say, "sure why not".
I don't think it will make them quiet, but they'll work at making me enjoy the game as much as they are, I think.
I don't know how everyone's missing the point of the ad. The crowd is being annoying, loud, and ridiculous... not threatening. This one guy's having a headache, he's not nervous. They all shut up after they start stuffing their mouths.
@tacoland2000 - nah mate, this ad was made for an International Test Match, which is a cricket game played internationally over a long time, many weeks. The black people ate West Indian supporters, and hes the only aussie supporter among them, so hes feeling awkward. Youre right, people are all missing the point, and it certainly isnt racist.
@y9dnkbe That's awesome. I figured the details were outside of my mindset because... surprise... the ad is from the other side of the fucking world! Most Americans who haven't been abroad honestly believe that the rest of the world shares all of their beliefs and stereotypes.
@tacoland2000 - Cheers, i appreciate it! Great when i read other comments that contain intelligence, reason and the understanding the world doesnt revolve around America! I myself am half American though, and have been there 3 times, beautiful country too!
Wrong continent, wrong country, wrong races, no stereotypes, different cultures, and different history. Im against real racism in all forms but this is a media frenzy feeding the ill informed and ill educated what they want hear. The arrogance many have shown over and over again, is that they have the best tool ever invented for researching the context of the ad and they refuse to do that or accept any other point of view even though they are based on actual facts.
Thats the whole fucking point. We weren't supposed to know, because it was an ad for Australian and West Indies citizens. NOT us. It was designed for their cultures to understand. This whole argument is stupid.
blacks get treated like shit for so long, you cant even recognize when something isnt right. its considered the norm and blacks are th ones that are oversensitive. just like when blacks wanted to vote. no one caould understand why blacks would complain. after all, its always been this way. same for this ad. the people who cant see the problem are the ones who are used to being able to treat blacks anyway they want to. and now they cant understand what changed.
Well, now that blacks have all the same civil rights as whites, instead of bitching in your basement, go get a life and quit blaming whites for all your problems.
Ok, idiots who think this is racist. In Australia it isn't about race. It is the fan of one team surrounded by the fans of the opposing team. Stop being fucking retarded!!!!
because the whole "blacks like chicken" thing is an American concept. You cannot link american stereo types with other countries. It was one fan surrounded by the fans of the opposing team. For fuck sake stop being retarded.
why didnt he hand out sodas? oh, how convient. he gives the chicken to the blacks to calm them down.
why didnt he hand out popcorn? he could have handed out anything. but they handed out chicken to the blacks. you see a rowdy black, give him some chicken and he will calm down!
what a joke. anyone who doesnt understand how wrong that is, must be ignorant.
you can't be this dumb. He didn't hand out soda and popcorn because if was a fucking KFC commercial, not a soda or popcorn commercial. The people in this commercial are not "blacks" they are West Indies fans, the "white" is an Australian fan. He was surrounded by rowdy WI fans, not rowdy blacks. If you want to keep arguing without knowledge, bug someone else with your stupidity.
Again you are the dumb ass. They are using West Indians because the commercial was set to air during the game between australia and the West Indies. Look, just admit you got this one wrong and are the one being ignorant by applying American racial stigma to another country and move on with your life.
such a shame that your brain is so small it wont allow for too much activity at one time. i explained my position in a way that couldnt be refuted.
and as i suspected, you didnt refute it. all you did was continue to throw the insults that solidifies my beliefs.
you arent capable of being objective. you live in a hate filled existence that has never been challenged and you lack the common sense to see the error of your ways! not only do i forgive you, i actually fill sorry for you!
Actually, I refuted your opinion with logic and the facts. If you can not get over your own ethnocentrism, not my problem. Keep insulting people instead of making sound points, i'm sure one day that will work for you, like when your debating with a child.
You don't know what you're talking about you oversensitive cock. There were a few of these same ads in Australia with the same guy giving chicken to his white friends to stop them doing what ever it is was that was distracting him from the Cricket. If anything it was an anti racist ad since he was treating west indies fans like any of his other friends.
Stupid fucking ignorant Americans always have to have an opinion about shit they don't understand. Fuck off.
@MrPhillyrick1 what the fuck does it matter if it was 3 months or 3 years, I read it a moment before I responded, and a moment after that I read another comment that had beat me to mocking you. Asshat.
@MrPhillyrick1 your mother is a disease infested whore and your father is a mongoloid idiot. Unfortunately, instead of inheriting her hard-working independent spirit and his mule cock, you inherited her utter lack of self respect and his utter lack of any semblance of mind. Go felch a corpse liver lips.
It is American ignorance because the ad depicts the fan of one team surrounded by the fans of another team. American ignorance turned it into a race issue. How about you go learn not to be retarded before you comment.
Ignorant imbiciles. Educate yourselves about Australians BEFORE you start slinging racist slurs. The rest of the world ISN'T just according to the American way. There is a world ouside of the US. Go watch a cricket match and get rid of the chip on your shoulder.
First of all, by putting pressure on the company to pull it! KFC bowed down to the pressure and pulled the ad.
Second of all, you still don't get it. Those 'Africans' are not Africans. They are west Indies supporters. The guy was not 'nervous' he was in an 'Ackward Situation'.. like you'd be if you were sitting in the wrong stand at a sporting event. The chicken wasn't to calm them it was to appease them.
And you are honestly surprised that people call you ignorant?
Because Americans live in a bubble and are incredibly ignorant when it comes to the rest of the world they have misinterpreted this ad as racist and managed to get this ad pulled from Australian tv.
lol@ How about you go to the store and buy a chicken and cook it, even at the stores they have pre-cooked warm rotisserie chicken, well in Canada at least.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow. You guys are morons. Don't let common sense ever get in the way of your ignorance. How racist are you with your "black people" comments? What exactly are "black people"? Aparently knowing someone's skin colour tells you all you need to know does it? Stupid, racist dickheads.
@jaztech99 Oh come on..I can tell by how you spell color with a u that you are from Europe. Anyway, that is being UNREALISTIC to say if you notice someone's skin color you are racist. You ultra liberal pansies never cease to amaze me.
Dickhead. Australian's spell colour with a "u". You'd be too ignorant to realise that though. An interesting call that I'm an "ultra liberal pansy" (haha) because I don't endorse the racial stereotyping of "black people" as being all the same. Its sad that you think that not being a racist ignoramus is actually a bad thing. It's people like you that drag down the opinion of Americans in the minds of people from many of the world's countries. Racist, redneck, ignorant, stupid Seppo.
@jaztech99 yeah I agree with OhUnclePaul. Black culture is just that, a culture. Does it mean that all black people follow the norms of their culture? No. Does it mean that no white people ever conform to black culture? No. HOWEVER, to deny that black culture exists and affects society would be retarded.
Morons this stereotype doesn't exist in Australia. You are projecting your own racist stereotypes on a people. I don't deny that many Australians are racist but this is not a case of it.
You are commenting on a situation that has no relevence to anybody in the USA.
its not racist to Australians..but some people in America do poke fun at African Americans and their love for chicken..but the truth is..everyone here loves fried chicken lol
@94bubbles94 Just be thankful we even gave you fried chicken. Btw, you fucking dolt, KFC is an international company and if they feel their profits will suffer, then they'll pull the ad, no matter who's doing the bitching. Get over it, faggot.
its a fact, anything we do here in australia goes straight to the other side of the globe.
what makes you all so important that we need to go by what you think about a matter which has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else but australians..
Really? We dictate every part of your life down under? Even when it comes to fried chicken? Amazing! Sounds like bullshit to me. But I guess it's good for Aussies who want to be able to blame all of their country's economic and social problems on someone else and therefore avoid doing anything about them.
You don't have economic and social problems? So, everyone in Oz is rich? The underage prostitution in NSW, the poverty of Aborigines, racist immigration laws, the recent attacks on of people of Indian heritage, and violent attacks on visitors from the US and Ireland are not social problems? Interesting.
Uh i think i would know, i only live here Gosh, what and this stuff doesn't happen in the states? thats a load of bullshit sorry, and about that indian thing, how does anyone know it was a racial attack? were you there?
Uh apparently you don;t know because you wrote that you don't have social problems-and yes, we know that we have the same problems in the US. The difference between us and you is that we admit this openly. Kevin Rudd discussed the attacks on Indians, they are racial.
What a stupid bunch of rhetorical crap. No one said that Americans dictate every part of our life in Aus. And the diatribe about blaming economic and social problems on someone else is patent nonsence, again not brought up by anyone but you. But, as is the case when people have nothing worthwhile to say, making shit up is the only real recourse.
OMG are you kdding me? Most flame wars happen because someone says something about us. Remember the vegimite deal? I have to ask, has there been ANY deal where Aussies have gotten up in arms about something advertised on your shows?
From now on when you visit the YouTube pages of other Aussies look through their videos & you will see that 95% of them have at least 1 video dedicated to abusing Americans. There are many Australians on YouTube whose sole purpose is to make videos about how stupid Americans are.BTW,if you visit the pages of at least half the people who claim to be Americans while trashing Aussies you will see that they are actually Brits. We don't hate Aussies & don't go looking to insult you,it's the opposite
@94bubbles94 hey i thought the ad was funny actually......aussies seem to have a good humor about themselves (racist/offensive at times)...i mean look at the Foster's Ads they make all australians look like dumb hicks who live in little shacks in the outback
Being Australian I was very interested to learn that Americans think that African Americans like chicken and that this is a stereotype. To me that is a very strange. What is stranger is that they are trying to say that West Indians are the same as African Americans. I thought that they had an entirely different cultural identities? Or am I wrong? Do Americans feel that all people who are born with dark skin should be lumped in with their cultural identity and not allowed their own? WTF Seriously
I thought it was stereotypical, and funny. There's nothing racist about that, black people like fried chicken and water mellon. It's not like they said "stupid niggers, white power." If anyone thinks this commercial is racist, I say stop playing the race card, thats old
What ever people. I'm a West Indian and have been to many cricket matches, and the truth is the visiting tourist usually feel awkward untill we share food and alcohol them to make them feel comfortable,
There is a whole series of these ads about the cricket. One recent one had the guy sitting on his couch trying to watch the game but his girlfriend wont shut up. He gives her some KFC and everything is fine, which is the basic theme from this series of ads. I promise you every ad trying to sell chicken is going to have people enjoying chicken. So now because Americans have a racist steriotype black people have to be segregated from chicken ads. How fucking ironic. WHITES ONLY IN CHICKEN ADS!!!
What was on that website, if the phrase "Nigger Michelle Obama", which they are currently running with as the title of one of their main sections, is the result of "bowing under to pressure"?
I love chicken. KFC and popeyes especially. I am not black but I don't see how any black person can love chicken more than me. Like Dave Chapelle said "if you don't like chicken, somethin's wrong wit you".
It's an innocent remark on the differences between two cultures, the members of the culture which happen to mostly have 2 different skin colors. I don't think it's a comment on the behavior of an entire group of people based on RACE, it's a comment on the behavior of an entire group of people based on CULTURE. Fucking americans and their white guilt, jesus fucking christ we have our balls in a knot in the states over political correctness. RELAX!!!
Yes, it's a cricket game, and the black people are fans for the rival country, that's why it's an "ooukwooourd situaatien" . Cricket happens to be a game played in a lot of former British colonies, many in Africa, so it makes perfect sense to have black fans as "rivals".
Yes we did and still do discriminate Aboriginals in Australia, but no there is no relationship between 'black people' and chicken over here. The 'black' people in the ad are West Indians, from the West Indies and as far as I know there is no relationship between them and chicken either. It is indeed a cricket joke, and as there are only 2 other 'white' teams in a group of over 14 it would be rare if the lone Aussie fan was not surrounded by ppl of a different race.
Actually, it is the non-Indigenous people in Australia who are discriminated against because there are many government-based financial benefits for Indigenous people which are disallowed for non-Indigenous people. Indigenous people are disadvantaged, which is perhaps what you meant to say. They are disadvantaged as a result of centuries of various problems, including those forced upon them and those they perpetuate themselves.

blacks get treated like shit for so long, you cant even recognize when something isnt right. its considered the norm and blacks are th ones that are oversensitive. just like when blacks wanted to vote. no one caould understand why blacks would complain. after all, its always been this way. same for this ad. the people who cant see the problem are the ones who are used to being able to treat blacks anyway they want to. and now they cant understand what changed.
MrPhillyrick1 2 years ago
Well, now that blacks have all the same civil rights as whites, instead of bitching in your basement, go get a life and quit blaming whites for all your problems.
jharrod123 2 years ago 3
Ok, idiots who think this is racist. In Australia it isn't about race. It is the fan of one team surrounded by the fans of the opposing team. Stop being fucking retarded!!!!
jharrod123 2 years ago
because the whole "blacks like chicken" thing is an American concept. You cannot link american stereo types with other countries. It was one fan surrounded by the fans of the opposing team. For fuck sake stop being retarded.
jharrod123 2 years ago
why didnt he hand out sodas? oh, how convient. he gives the chicken to the blacks to calm them down.
why didnt he hand out popcorn? he could have handed out anything. but they handed out chicken to the blacks. you see a rowdy black, give him some chicken and he will calm down!
what a joke. anyone who doesnt understand how wrong that is, must be ignorant.
MrPhillyrick1 2 years ago
you can't be this dumb. If you want to keep arguing without knowledge, bug someone else with your stupidity.
jharrod123 2 years ago
@jharrod123 youre missing the point dumbazz.
they are using the blacks because they couldnt use anyone else to fit the STEREOTYPE!
they are selling chicken, and who else would come to mind?
you honestly think that the color of those people played no part?
then why not use fans of another team that wouldnt fit the stereotype? why didnt they use "rowdy white fans?"
get your head out the clouds. its no big deal, but to act ignorant to the reality is foolish
MrPhillyrick1 2 years ago
Again you are the dumb ass. They are using West Indians because the commercial was set to air during the game between australia and the West Indies. Look, just admit you got this one wrong and are the one being ignorant by applying American racial stigma to another country and move on with your life.
jharrod123 2 years ago
such a shame that your brain is so small it wont allow for too much activity at one time. i explained my position in a way that couldnt be refuted.
and as i suspected, you didnt refute it. all you did was continue to throw the insults that solidifies my beliefs.
you arent capable of being objective. you live in a hate filled existence that has never been challenged and you lack the common sense to see the error of your ways! not only do i forgive you, i actually fill sorry for you!

Actually, I refuted your opinion with logic and the facts. If you can not get over your own ethnocentrism, not my problem. Keep insulting people instead of making sound points, i'm sure one day that will work for you, like when your debating with a child.
jharrod123 2 years ago
You don't know what you're talking about you oversensitive cock. There were a few of these same ads in Australia with the same guy giving chicken to his white friends to stop them doing what ever it is was that was distracting him from the Cricket. If anything it was an anti racist ad since he was treating west indies fans like any of his other friends.
Stupid fucking ignorant Americans always have to have an opinion about shit they don't understand. Fuck off.

BipedalHumanoid 2 years ago
If England were touring Australia at the time he'd be surrounded by singing England supporters and the 'Ackward Situation' would still apply!

Wow. You guys are morons. Don't let common sense ever get in the way of your ignorance. How racist are you with your "black people" comments? What exactly are "black people"? Aparently knowing someone's skin colour tells you all you need to know does it? Stupid, racist dickheads.
jaztech99 2 years ago
@jaztech99 Oh come on..I can tell by how you spell color with a u that you are from Europe. Anyway, that is being UNREALISTIC to say if you notice someone's skin color you are racist. You ultra liberal pansies never cease to amaze me.
OhUnclePaul 2 years ago 22
Racist, redneck, ignorant, stupid Seppo.
jaztech99 2 years ago
@jaztech99 yeah I agree with OhUnclePaul. Black culture is just that, a culture. Does it mean that all black people follow the norms of their culture? No. Does it mean that no white people ever conform to black culture? No. HOWEVER, to deny that black culture exists and affects society would be retarded.
Panasper 1 year ago
Morons this stereotype doesn't exist in Australia. You are projecting your own racist stereotypes on a people. I don't deny that many Australians are racist but this is not a case of it.
You are commenting on a situation that has no relevence to anybody in the USA.

what makes you all so important that we need to go by what you think about a matter which has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else but australians..
94bubbles94 2 years ago
Really? We dictate every part of your life down under? Even when it comes to fried chicken? Amazing! Sounds like bullshit to me. But I guess it's good for Aussies who want to be able to blame all of their country's economic and social problems on someone else and therefore avoid doing anything about them.
WhiskeytheCowboyCure 2 years ago
we dont have any economic or social problems
and what i was saying is that what the ad gets taken off the air just cos people in a different country dont like it now THAT is bullshit
94bubbles94 2 years ago
You don't have economic and social problems? So, everyone in Oz is rich? The underage prostitution in NSW, the poverty of Aborigines, racist immigration laws, the recent attacks on of people of Indian heritage, and violent attacks on visitors from the US and Ireland are not social problems? Interesting.
WhiskeytheCowboyCure 2 years ago
Uh i think i would know, i only live here Gosh, what and this stuff doesn't happen in the states? thats a load of bullshit sorry, and about that indian thing, how does anyone know it was a racial attack? were you there?
94bubbles94 2 years ago
Uh apparently you don;t know because you wrote that you don't have social problems-and yes, we know that we have the same problems in the US. The difference between us and you is that we admit this openly. Kevin Rudd discussed the attacks on Indians, they are racial.
WhiskeytheCowboyCure 2 years ago
was kevin rudd there too? and besides who in their right mind acctually believes the words coming out of a politicians mouth. i know i don't!
typical american.. think you know it all
94bubbles94 2 years ago
What a stupid bunch of rhetorical crap. No one said that Americans dictate every part of our life in Aus. And the diatribe about blaming economic and social problems on someone else is patent nonsence, again not brought up by anyone but you. But, as is the case when people have nothing worthwhile to say, making shit up is the only real recourse.
jaztech99 2 years ago

From now on when you visit the YouTube pages of other Aussies look through their videos & you will see that 95% of them have at least 1 video dedicated to abusing Americans. There are many Australians on YouTube whose sole purpose is to make videos about how stupid Americans are.BTW,if you visit the pages of at least half the people who claim to be Americans while trashing Aussies you will see that they are actually Brits. We don't hate Aussies & don't go looking to insult you,it's the opposite
WhiskeytheCowboyCure 2 years ago
@94bubbles94 hey i thought the ad was funny actually......aussies seem to have a good humor about themselves (racist/offensive at times)...i mean look at the Foster's Ads they make all australians look like dumb hicks who live in little shacks in the outback
MellowMadness86 1 year ago
Being Australian I was very interested to learn that Americans think that African Americans like chicken and that this is a stereotype. To me that is a very strange. What is stranger is that they are trying to say that West Indians are the same as African Americans. I thought that they had an entirely different cultural identities? Or am I wrong? Do Americans feel that all people who are born with dark skin should be lumped in with their cultural identity and not allowed their own? WTF Seriously
debrat2 2 years ago 2
Yeah, were racist even when we are trying not to be racist.
RaidenTheAlmighty 2 years ago
I thought it was stereotypical, and funny. There's nothing racist about that, black people like fried chicken and water mellon. It's not like they said "stupid niggers, white power." If anyone thinks this commercial is racist, I say stop playing the race card, thats old
andyr80 2 years ago
What ever people. I'm a West Indian and have been to many cricket matches, and the truth is the visiting tourist usually feel awkward untill we share food and alcohol them to make them feel comfortable,
mucurapord 2 years ago
If black people like fried chicken then they have excellent taste because fried chicken is awesome.
CeruleanFilms 2 years ago 3
There is a whole series of these ads about the cricket. One recent one had the guy sitting on his couch trying to watch the game but his girlfriend wont shut up. He gives her some KFC and everything is fine, which is the basic theme from this series of ads. I promise you every ad trying to sell chicken is going to have people enjoying chicken. So now because Americans have a racist steriotype black people have to be segregated from chicken ads. How fucking ironic. WHITES ONLY IN CHICKEN ADS!!!

deinse81 2 years ago
It's an innocent remark on the differences between two cultures, the members of the culture which happen to mostly have 2 different skin colors. I don't think it's a comment on the behavior of an entire group of people based on RACE, it's a comment on the behavior of an entire group of people based on CULTURE. Fucking americans and their white guilt, jesus fucking christ we have our balls in a knot in the states over political correctness. RELAX!!!

moakley 2 years ago
Yes, it's a cricket game, and the black people are fans for the rival country, that's why it's an "ooukwooourd situaatien" . Cricket happens to be a game played in a lot of former British colonies, many in Africa, so it makes perfect sense to have black fans as "rivals".
deinse81 2 years ago
exactly, and saying black people love fried chicken is only a preconception in america, I bet in Australia nobody thinks that about people there!

They didnt have slavery in australia, or the sterotype of black people loving chicken.
Besides, I think the people in the commercial are from the west indies. Therefore, its not the least bit racist.
And I think it is a cricket joke. They were talking a jab at the west indies cricket team or something. It was all in good fun.
RaidenTheAlmighty 2 years ago
There might not have been slavery in Australia; but they did discriminate against Aborigines.
SeaTac411 2 years ago
I mean that they didnt have OUR slavery. And there is do relationship with black people and chicken over there.
RaidenTheAlmighty 2 years ago
Yes we did and still do discriminate Aboriginals in Australia, but no there is no relationship between 'black people' and chicken over here. The 'black' people in the ad are West Indians, from the West Indies and as far as I know there is no relationship between them and chicken either. It is indeed a cricket joke, and as there are only 2 other 'white' teams in a group of over 14 it would be rare if the lone Aussie fan was not surrounded by ppl of a different race.
debrat2 2 years ago 2
Actually, it is the non-Indigenous people in Australia who are discriminated against because there are many government-based financial benefits for Indigenous people which are disallowed for non-Indigenous people. Indigenous people are disadvantaged, which is perhaps what you meant to say. They are disadvantaged as a result of centuries of various problems, including those forced upon them and those they perpetuate themselves.
