Why go get the weapon? you might as well cheat if you're going to go out of your way to get a gun and do the mission in a way it wasn't intended.

If the developers didn't want people going out and getting a gun on shore, they'd prevent you from doing. Since they clearly put nothing like failing you for going on shore, they have no problem with people restocking and then returning to the ship.

There's a cheat to turn off the Police, or as I like to call it, the "Do whatever I want and get away with it" code. I fought the Gang wars for quite some time unimpeded by the Police.
