It will, but only if you have a too high voltage and you have to keep mooving it to a different location and don't stop otherwise it will burn

There is no need to take them appart, and it is totally safe. The only problem is that on the iPhone 3g and 3gs the apple logo at the back is not metal so it can't be plated. But everything else is fine such as the bezel, all the buttons, cam lens and the headphone jack can be plated
