  • Elvis educated himself on the meaning of the song and really brought it to life. Tony Joe White's version is the only one to equal Elvis'.

  • Beat Elvis's version. Chip's production just builds and builds. The male background singers suit the tune more than the female gospel singers Elvis used. Should have been a #1. Billy Lee Riley was right up there with all the Sun cats: Jerry Lee, Carl, Johnny, Elvis and Roy. Shame he didn't get his due share.
