@donaldcallen I suppose I do, but ofcourse in my humble oppinion, I know rachmaninov knew what he wanted his piece to sound like...I love horowitz, but. just nowhere near as much as Argerich...I wonder what rachmaninov would have thought of her interpretation. I love Rachmaninov's original recording, however i prefer argerichs.
But don't get me wrong, i admire his passion and love his music.
Argerich has great technique. My problem with her playing is that it doesn't have the same power that Bronfman's has. That's why I myself prefer Bronfman's playing. Horowitz does have that power, and Bronfman definitely has it, if you listen to the way he plays the Ossia Cadenza, which by the way, Argerich didn't do, she instead did the light cadenza.
Greatest Cadenza ever written for the piano played with tremendous authority, imperious power, passion and intensity by Yefim Bronfman, the greatest interpretation of the cadenza and whole work I have heard.
I'd say it's better, since Esa-Pekka Salonen's conducting it. Plus, it got re-uploaded a couple days ago. The problem with that particular video was that the piano overpowered the orchestra due to bad mics, and here, Bronfman played it much cleaner, since this was back in 1992. As a performance, I love the other one, also, but I wouldn't listen to it. And Valery Gergiev doesn't do a very good job making the orchestra loud, even when the piano's not playing.
One of the most powerful cadenzas ever written for the piano. Magnificent performance by Bronfman.

i don't understand why everyone raves about horowitz so much when he plays this....bronfman is fantastic, however, you can't beat argerich.
