hhhdmt the reason why people mention clay is simply bacuae the majority of their meetings have occured on clay. The reason the majority have occured on clay (Nadals surface) and not hards ( Fed's surface) is that Fed is better at reaching finals on courts that con't suit him than Nadal is.

Federer's wins against Haas, Soderling and Del Porto were superb wins. In each it called for different qualities, i thought Haas was better then him for 2.99 sets (how close) and Del Porto was just the better player...He comes through though and against Soderling it was excellent tennis pure and simple.

As Soderling said in the press conference, Federer didn't allow him to play his best, but Nadal did!! Nadal's playing style relies too much on the groudstroke, he was younger than most of the players few years ago so the tactics still worked.. however, players younger and faster than him are emerging...
