  • music rocks!!!!

  • I want one!!!!!

  • I am so impressed! They made these with a v-8 for some middle eastern military and they were fitted with a machine gun of some sort and or a camera. I had a dream about a twin tail LSA and started to research and here it is. I wonder if anyone has tried a wenkel rotary engine with a APU powered turbo charger and manual integral boost control... that would be awesome! sigh and expensive... i know that rotary engine blocks all have low magnesium if any at all : ( unlike most aeronautical engines.

  • @2tallbrandon - I saw an artists imporession of a military version - but i dont think it ever happened.

  • @pgpete "In 1997 Mr. Sadler contracted with Turkish Aerospace Industries to develop the Piranha air-to-ground attack fighter. The Piranha weighed just 1450 pounds and boasted a useful load of the same. It was powered by a 450hp water-cooled aluminum-block V8. The power-to-weight ratio was so great that the Piranha was capable of verticle climb rates over 4000 feet per minute."

straight from Sadler's web page under the history section and if you look at the picture on the page it is the Vampire

  • @2tallbrandon here is a video youtube.com/watch?v=GyO14gRRzU4

    enjoy!

  • @2tallbrandon watching the video i can see that the military version and the version I flew have only the shape in common - that military plane is a lot bigger and heavier. ( and faster ) but the ultralight version would be cheaper and more fun !!

  • @pgpete I agree, but as my name says... I'm really tall, some say... too tall... and I would def. need that little bit bigger plane.. the climb rate on the v8 version is INSANE! needless to say Sadler had his stuff together when designing these planes that are extremely similar.

  • its roll rate was about the same as a piper tomohawk

  • What's the max pilot height. I'm 6'-2"...

  • you might find that you bump your head on the canopy - it depends where you are tall - in the legs or body - but you can always fly the vampire without the canopy. That configuration is approved by the facory.

  • @starkneked - you might just squeeze in - you can fly it without the canopy if you like.

  • it looks very nimble

  • any body knows how much is this?

  • I wonder what the spin characteristics are...

  • @rpowerscat - it had to pass spin requirements to get 95.25 certification.

  • I heard that a company in Washington have bought production rights and are going to be produing a 2 seater version to fall under the LSA catagory.

  • When ever someone LSA's something it always ends up heavier and way expensive

  • thank u for upload.

  • the Vampire is still in production today.. in the SV3 form.

  • Thanks for the response. Do you know of any web site or have any contact info for SV3? Thanks!

  • this is the site of the current manufacturer, fortunately he is just up the road from my place, so i have factory made spares available for mine whenever i need them...

  • This has always been my fav UL. Are there any kits that are similar to this design? God why didnt these come to the states they would have made a fortune. Great video, Thanks.
