@freskit1 Haha, you are fucked my friend. Literally fucked. Flubber? That's a film for five year-olds. And how does it damage you? Your too stupid to understand.
@Menhim21 Sir, this is a fantastic movie, as is the second one (third one obviously wasn't). Yes, it's not entirely accurate in terms of its portrayal of the real Mafia (even the old Mafia), but come on. Even if it was about a family of Italians who ran the Fiat company it would still be brilliant. All the different themes it explores, the great writing and acting, the use of music, you name it.
Richard Conte was a great casting choice for the role of Barzini --such a dandy, with his overly-clean elocution, sartorial keenness and reserved demeanor. Of the five Dons, he's the only truly Americanized one (all the others are what you would call "mustache Petes" --old-school Italians who clung to their Sicilian roots).
Great film and somewhat accurate too. This is the late 1940's, but the dabate over narcotics rackets was already settled the previous decade when the Sicilian and Jewish mafia engaged in this joint venture as a result of Lucky's "reforms". It's true, though that the post war years marked a period when dealing illegal narcotics became an even higher priority leading to La Cosa Nostra taking control of heroin business in the States.
@kevynspeed only in movies, in real life they are street thugs with money to buy it. Class you get when someone is above it and style is not anymore of matter, you walk on water then whether on sandals or bleeding feet. The likes of a Ghandi, supreme over any English Lord.
@catastrophicdisease If you read the novel it goes some way to explaining why these men shunned society to run their own Underworld and look after their people. In a lot of ways they succeeded a lot better than our so called leaders!
Michael at the very least kept Vito's words. He waited until the Don was dead to take action. After all, it was Vito's word and not his and thus blame could not be made.
@jasonjamesw Because it's a work of fiction. Do you honestly think these Mafia animals have any semblance of humanity in real life? If you take just a little bit of time to learn about the atrocities committed by organized crime, you would not be so quick to praise.
@CatastrophicDisease I'm not defending the Mob, but "The Godfather" was partly based some things that were actually happening in the Mafia at the time (late 40s-early 60s). It wasn't 100% fiction. Moe Greene and Hyman Roth, for example, were obviously modeled after real-life gangsters Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky. Also, there was a debate within the Mob at the time over whether they should get involved in drugs or not. Obviously we all know what they decided on in real life!
@Deentan niggers...??? WHAT DO U THINK SICILIANS REALLY ARE??? LEARN UR HISTORY.....LEARN WHY ITILIANS HATE YOU. ITS BECAUSE U WERE A ITILIANS ALONG LONG TIME AGO....BUT YOU WERE CONQUERED BY THE MOORS..."NIGGERS". SICILIANS ARE ITLIANS WITH BLACK BLOOD FLOWIG THROUGH THEIR VEINS.......SORRY TO BURST UR DUMBASS BUBBLE...PEACE.
@CatastrophicDisease Well, actually a lot of mafia leaders were family men, married to loving wives. Mafia leaders very rarely did the dirty work, mafia leaders themselves were generally quite respectable gentlemen with solid principles as individuals.
@CatastrophicDisease If you take just a little bit of time to learn about the atrocities committed by religion and colonization, you would not be so quick to assume countries have any semblance of humanity either. US Imperialism alone has "inspired" a "world leader" to occupy over 60 countries since 1942.
@jasonjamesw Actually in the end they ended up going to war. Actually i wouldn't call it a "war". michael corleone just killed all the heads of the five families and since the rival families didn't retaliate it's most likely called a "Divide and conquer"
@jasonjamesw because their gangsters, they know what the fuck their doing, unlike national leaders they got no idea what to do because they are higher then everyone else so all the power goes to their head.
@jasonjamesw I thought it was rather obvious that most national leaders are just puppets used by these peaceful gangsters. They put on a show, so that not a single person can suspect what the actual plan is, the real plan that the gangsters hatch. One can reduce the term politics to conjuring tricks.
@jasonjamesw actually the gangs were in good terms untill cocaine got involved.Bosses started doing cocaine, that made them paranoid and violent, and there you have your wars and atrocities
@jasonjamesw They have respect, even though they are enemy's every mafia Boss would try to avoid war with another family. Plus this is a sit down. In the mafia term the sit down is to negotiate something that would work out and benefit everyone.
haha 0:38 its the old dude who's teeth nearly fell out when he sang that song at Connie's wedding. Who is that guy, obviously he must be involved with one of the families if he is at this meeting.
Ernest Borgnine, Danny Thomas, Edward G. Robinson, Orson Wells, Anthony Quinn, George C. Scott and Frank Sinatra were considered for the role of Don Vito but were all dropped when Coppola couldn't get Paramount to go ahead with The Godfather as a musical comedy.
I got this Movie set for Chirstmas and all i can say is one off the three way to be a man is have sex, hits puberty, last but not less we will add this to man hood the Godfather.

Might have been to a degree back during the era depicted in the film. Very little if any remains. Actually little of La Cosa Nostra itself remains. Not that they're not still making bags of money but...
I can't stand when people post poorly edited clips on YouTube. If you weren't going to post the entire conversation in the car, why cut in the middle of it? Why not cut right after the hug at the meeting? That kinda shit really irks me.
the mafia arrived in america in the 1890's. financed by the illuminati to establish the underground network and black market system. look up giuseppe mazzini, the original godfather. founder of the mafia and head of the illuminati at one time. the mafia today is the criminal enterprise behind the government, i.e. the shadow government. the chicago outfit is behind obama.
@GuerreroDelInfo That is possibly the largest piece of bullshit with more holes in it than any conspiracy ive heard lately, but it makes me laugh for sure lol, its bullshit, but very good bullshit.
The Godfather was wrong about the police and law not helping the mafia with drugs. Now the CIA is a major contributor to the cause. The mafia is out of Las Vegas, taken over by the biggest criminal syndicate in the world. yep.
@IExposeMormonism At the time, drugs were a big no-no. Things have changed now, but even up to John Gotti's reign, drugs were seen as to dangerous to dabble in-the police chiefs and politicians prepared to look the other way with regards the mob's other criminal enterprises wouldn't do the same with drugs, and the Dons worried that drugs would weaken their soldiers and make them more susceptible to turning state, they didn't feel people like that could be trusted.
@warriorofwrestlingv3 And the mafia was right. Now we are in Afghanistan literally guarding the opium poppies for the farmers. There are vague rumors of the CIA being involved in cocaine mfg and heroin mfg/importation. The gambling like Las Vegas is gov't controlled/owned not mafia. Serpico had a bad experience in law enforcement in relation to drugs, too. Many people place Bill Clinton at Mina AK. Things have changed since the Eisenhower days
@IExposeMormonism Indeed sir. I've no doubt the government took over where the Mafia left off-it's well known the CIA and Santo Trafficante Jr out of Florida were involved in a plot to assassinate Fide Castro, and I seriously doubt that's where the association ended. There isn't much difference between a politician like Obama and a Mafia Don like John Gotti, imo. I recall a story about a crashed CIA plane full of Cocaine, too.
@IExposeMormonism I find it HIGHLY unlikely that the government would keep drugs illegal when the oppurtunity is there for them to provide, and profit from these same drugs. I can only assume it's because they make more money from their illegal status than because they're looking to 'protect' us. They don't care about us, they send us off to die in illegal wars and-like a Mafia Don-they profit from these 'ventures', let's say, while their soldiers pay the price and reap none of the rewards
@fadethetrade Vito's was the strongest by far. However, due to the War, all three families (Corleone, Barzini and Tattagalia) were greatly weakened and basically at a stalemate. In the book, everyone was scared when they heard Vito had arisen from his bed and was better--because they thought he would slaughter them all for Sonny's murder. In the book and in deleted scenes, Vito and Michael both plan the murders of the heads of the other Families, but Michael will be the one to carry it out.
The Godfather is the best gangster movie. This is what started the gangster or hustler movement, the mafia did, like Al Capone and them. Then Frank Lucas elevated it too. Those are real gangsters who made names for themselves and tons of money.
@be4unvme Yeah I know it isn't real. I think i just worded that comment wrong. I definitely know Capone and Lucas were real. I was just saying how people think they're gangster today and stuff, they have no idea...
@concorde123100 There is no way to keep selling drugs "respectable." The guy who says from 3:34-3:42 that ideally the Mob should only sell drugs to black people is being racist, not reasonable.
@danning1 they regard blacks as second rate - but dude, in the 1950's, most did! Took years to integrate blacks into society and lose racism. Sad but true and any mafia film that makes jibes against blacks is accurate not racist. Its business danning1 not personal! Central Europe was very anti black, and some of the more backward states still are. You can still hear monkey noises in some football matches when black players are on show, but slowly we are getting there (just my opinion)
@BilboBaghead81 Because the worst of the black slaves in terms of education, culture, even looks! ,which latin american colonies left on the boats ,were all dropped off in louisiana. North America received the last batch and profoundly the worst of the batch from africa. That's why and how racism really began. But after 3 generations,it's evened out.Now the europeans are on the decline in terms of population.Eventually,in about 300 yrs, the world will be dark and asian looking.
@fadethetrade Whats do you mean by the worst of the batch? If anything Those people were the strongest out of all the people who endured that madness! Certain Tribes were outlawed in America due to their warrior spirit. They would organize and rebel all the time and they couldn't be controlled.
@BilboBaghead81 The Mafia actually gave jobs to blacks way back in the 1920s and 30s before blacks were even allowed to mix with whites, during segregation...italians are not usually white supremacists, but italian immigrants were extremely Untrusting of non-italians at that time...they were strictly roman catholic as well...probably a bit racist but keep in mind Italian immigrants were also targets of the kkk lynch mobs and were treated as 2nd class people who were only imports for cheap labor

20 people got the shit beaten out of them by Sonny
PalerLaze 3 months ago
The Godfather was wrong about the police and law not helping the mafia with drugs. Now the CIA is a major contributor to the cause. The mafia is out of Las Vegas, taken over by the biggest criminal syndicate in the world. yep.
IExposeMormonism 3 months ago
@IExposeMormonism At the time, drugs were a big no-no. Things have changed now, but even up to John Gotti's reign, drugs were seen as to dangerous to dabble in-the police chiefs and politicians prepared to look the other way with regards the mob's other criminal enterprises wouldn't do the same with drugs, and the Dons worried that drugs would weaken their soldiers and make them more susceptible to turning state, they didn't feel people like that could be trusted.
warriorofwrestlingv3 3 months ago
@warriorofwrestlingv3 And the mafia was right. Now we are in Afghanistan literally guarding the opium poppies for the farmers. There are vague rumors of the CIA being involved in cocaine mfg and heroin mfg/importation. The gambling like Las Vegas is gov't controlled/owned not mafia. Serpico had a bad experience in law enforcement in relation to drugs, too. Many people place Bill Clinton at Mina AK. Things have changed since the Eisenhower days
IExposeMormonism 3 months ago
@IExposeMormonism Indeed sir. I've no doubt the government took over where the Mafia left off-it's well known the CIA and Santo Trafficante Jr out of Florida were involved in a plot to assassinate Fide Castro, and I seriously doubt that's where the association ended. There isn't much difference between a politician like Obama and a Mafia Don like John Gotti, imo. I recall a story about a crashed CIA plane full of Cocaine, too.
warriorofwrestlingv3 3 months ago
@IExposeMormonism I find it HIGHLY unlikely that the government would keep drugs illegal when the oppurtunity is there for them to provide, and profit from these same drugs. I can only assume it's because they make more money from their illegal status than because they're looking to 'protect' us. They don't care about us, they send us off to die in illegal wars and-like a Mafia Don-they profit from these 'ventures', let's say, while their soldiers pay the price and reap none of the rewards

@mrtundra45, italian immigrants didn't like blacks for the same reason they aren't liked worldwide: street crime.

the litterally tell how barzini was behind sonny's death
TheJoec2005 3 months ago
@TheJoec2005 Barzini was secretly behind the whole plot - turning all 5 families against the Corleone Family to open the natcotics trade via the mob.
tipsss 3 months ago
@tipsss Barzini's army was as strong or stronger then Vitos and it took a real scheme that Mike put together,to end their existance.
fadethetrade 3 months ago
@fadethetrade Vito's was the strongest by far. However, due to the War, all three families (Corleone, Barzini and Tattagalia) were greatly weakened and basically at a stalemate. In the book, everyone was scared when they heard Vito had arisen from his bed and was better--because they thought he would slaughter them all for Sonny's murder. In the book and in deleted scenes, Vito and Michael both plan the murders of the heads of the other Families, but Michael will be the one to carry it out.

I can't hear a word he says. Maybe that's why he is the godfather
LennLucky 3 months ago
The Godfather is the best gangster movie. This is what started the gangster or hustler movement, the mafia did, like Al Capone and them. Then Frank Lucas elevated it too. Those are real gangsters who made names for themselves and tons of money.
ad34bballin 3 months ago
@ad34bballin al capone was alive and hustlin way before this movie came out
be4unvme 3 months ago
@be4unvme Oh don't worry I know that. I just put it in the wrong order and didn't realize. I'm kind of a dub that way. Thanks for pointing it out.
ad34bballin 3 months ago
@ad34bballin btw there aint no godfather, Frank Lucas and Capone were real
be4unvme 3 months ago
@be4unvme Yeah I know it isn't real. I think i just worded that comment wrong. I definitely know Capone and Lucas were real. I was just saying how people think they're gangster today and stuff, they have no idea...
ad34bballin 3 months ago
I don't want it in the schools..........
I wan't to keep it respectably..........
What wen't wrong with the dam drugs?
Mafia is not what it once was.
" You're not a man if you're not with you're family"
Something to think about.
concorde123100 3 months ago
@concorde123100 There is no way to keep selling drugs "respectable." The guy who says from 3:34-3:42 that ideally the Mob should only sell drugs to black people is being racist, not reasonable.
danning1 3 months ago
@danning1 they regard blacks as second rate - but dude, in the 1950's, most did! Took years to integrate blacks into society and lose racism. Sad but true and any mafia film that makes jibes against blacks is accurate not racist. Its business danning1 not personal! Central Europe was very anti black, and some of the more backward states still are. You can still hear monkey noises in some football matches when black players are on show, but slowly we are getting there (just my opinion)
BilboBaghead81 3 months ago
@BilboBaghead81 Because the worst of the black slaves in terms of education, culture, even looks! ,which latin american colonies left on the boats ,were all dropped off in louisiana. North America received the last batch and profoundly the worst of the batch from africa. That's why and how racism really began. But after 3 generations,it's evened out.Now the europeans are on the decline in terms of population.Eventually,in about 300 yrs, the world will be dark and asian looking.
fadethetrade 3 months ago
@fadethetrade Whats do you mean by the worst of the batch? If anything Those people were the strongest out of all the people who endured that madness! Certain Tribes were outlawed in America due to their warrior spirit. They would organize and rebel all the time and they couldn't be controlled.
LOU1982 3 months ago
@BilboBaghead81 The Mafia actually gave jobs to blacks way back in the 1920s and 30s before blacks were even allowed to mix with whites, during segregation...italians are not usually white supremacists, but italian immigrants were extremely Untrusting of non-italians at that time...they were strictly roman catholic as well...probably a bit racist but keep in mind Italian immigrants were also targets of the kkk lynch mobs and were treated as 2nd class people who were only imports for cheap labor
