Hi, im from Argentina. the car pc forum is todocarpc (dot) com (dot) ar it deals with carputers. I love your proyect and will coment it. keep up with the good work!
@C4owner I don't own a C4 a friend of mine does, personally i love suggesing specific carpc to all my friends and using the forums to let others know what we did for each car.
I could have bought a C4 VTS navi screen but that was expensive so moulded a touchscreen into a standard C4 VT, with the cabling running to the PC into the boot.
I bought the system off a guy who used it in his Pug..at the time I couldn't figure out why the touchscreen wasn't working so I concentrated on that instead of the software!
It's something I could look at - but there is definately a problem with the power supply as to blow up 2 hard drives in a matter of minutes suggests something wrong!!!
Sure thing - let me know your email and I'll email it to you. I'm assuming you have the software required to run the skin? It is called 'Roadrunner'. My advice though is to check out a new program called 'FreeICE' - search for it on Youtube...it's far better!
I was going to investigate using Hibernatation, but I never got the chance due to the computer failing. That was 6 odd months ago and I'm still trying to fix it! Not 100% Hibernation would work anyway due to the C4's "Economy Mode" which kills all power after 30mins if the engine isn't running to save the battery.
if you use a car aware PSU, it could shutoff (or hibernate) the pc after a preset time, also if you are using a inverter to power the pc, get rid of it, ground loops will kill everything and ruin the audio outputs.
I use a M2-ATX. This would keep supplying power to the motherboard if I wanted to use Hibernation in WinXP. Trouble is - the car's economy mode would detect the power drain (albeit a small one) and eventually cut power to it - basically the same as the M2-ATX does.
In regards to my system..I think I've found the problem and will be looking to try and fix it this coming weekend. If I do...watch for a new video with a new frontend!
The computer displays the Peugeot logo because the system was bought off a 406 owner. At the time of posting this video I was having problems getting the touchscreen to work, and so this video was made to show off the work done rather than the finished system.
I've run into problems with the install at the moment...I think the Harddrive has blown up so I'm looking for a cheap replacement drive. If that solves the problem then I'll be setting all the software up to my liking. Check back soon!
Still working on finding a solution to the problems I've been having - I think it's down to the BIOS I'm using having bugs/issues with USB keyboards. Because the BIOS has possibly reset due to static electricity it may have changed a setting and introduced the keyboard problem - will hopefully get a PS/2 keyboard on the weekend to test!
Hi! Roughly £350, as all the work was done by a family member - far cheaper than a head unit that could video, audio etc. Gives more problems than a simple plug and play headunit though.

hibernation work, by putting all the information on a harddisk, so you won't loose any information if the power goes out..

how much does citroen c4 cost in US dollars? please...
rrrrmrrrr 3 years ago
They cost around $20,000 brand new, although its far better to buy second hand now as you can pick up a VTS (180bhp) for $16,000.
C4owner 3 years ago
why don't you use hibernation?
