Level 7: Eagle Tower is my 2nd favorite dungeon after Level 6: Face Shrine
I remember it took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do with that green orb [with the whole throwing it at the pillars and making the 3rd and 4th floors fall]
Wow, I love this... I forgot how amazing this game was, how many memories there are attached, even though I only beat it like two and a half years ago
This level was my favorite until I discovered its flaws. 1 key out of 3 is really needed. There's a key block I never unlocked, even the first time I played the level. And the pillars are on the 2nd floor, that means that if you destroy 'em, it's the 3rd floor that is supposed to fall, not the 4th! Plus, this level is known for having serious mapping problems, making 2 rooms on the 3rd floor unaccessible because of the crystal barriers. This level was badly made.
The part of the "4th" floor that falls is actually a 2 by 3 block area that fits into the 3rd floor, crushing 2 3rd floor blocks in the process. Looking at the map, the pillars correspond to where the 4th floor falls, so I guess you can assume that the rest of the 3rd floor is crushed as well as those two blocks.
Once the 4th floor falls you can access the parts of the 3rd floor that the crystal barriers blocked. I think that that was done on purpose to make the level seem more confusing.
I never knew that about the keys though, wow. I knew you could have a spare in the Key Cavern, but I never knew you could in Eagle's Tower as well. Is that without the screen skip glitch?
That's pretty interesting! It's neat to see what those inaccessible rooms would look like. I suppose they're there to prevent game crashes, like Missingno in pokemon R/B/Y. Every map that I've ever seen of Eagle's Tower had those rooms omitted completely.
So where would you go from that path at the top? Would it be the most upper-left room of the "new" 3rd floor? Or perhaps it would simply block you from exiting? I'd also be interested to know where those stairs were originally going to lead.
...In a wall! There were probably stairs here that has been removed. So the 4th floor was probably not supposed to crush on the 3rd at the beginning and there were the way to get to the 4th floor before. Maybe... Because the stairs are going down... But looking by the room's mapping (which doesn't fit with the rooms around), it is a beta room for sure. It seems that Nintendo forgot these 2 rooms.
I don't understand what you mean with period so I couldn't watch the link. Could you please be a little bit more specific? (My bad, I haven't studied english for that many years)
I was stuck in this level for at least 5 years, no kidding. I got this game when I was like 9 years old, and I didn't finish it until I was like 15. I never realized that I should use the ball to crush the pillars. Now when I play the game I become pissed at myself, because it's pretty obvious that the ball has an inportant function in the dungeon. Haha.
Though he was fairly simple both times, the Grim Creeper was definitely a cool miniboss, my favorite in addition to the Master Stalfos. Glad you brought that up. ^_^
Hmm. I wasn't going to, but now that you mention it the inside of the Wind Fish's Egg is technically a dungeon. In addition to that, I like its theme a lot (now that I remember it).
Alright, I'll take you up on that; I am going to do Inside the Wind Fish's Egg as part of this series. Thanks a lot for suggesting it and reminding me how good it is. ^_^
The first time this dungeon was hard , the second time it was easy. Don't know why , maybe i just had luck or something..

You don't need any glitch or cheat.
As for the pillars, they old the 3rd floor, and for some reasons it's the 4th floor that fall..
For to two unaccessible rooms, look at this image: (replace * by periods and _ by slashes)

It's the 4 rooms on the 3rd floor that get crushed. The 1st room is unaccessible, and the top-right seems to be an old beta room.
