  • C'mon Wales. Sing loud and proud.

  • I'm welsh and i always sing dis song

  • My only shame as a welshman is i cant sing, Living in the usa trying to teach my son what it means to be Welsh and there is no word in the english lanuage...However we have a word " hiraeth" I miss Wales..

  • Not the best rendition ever, but certainly brings a patriotic tear to the eye! And is generally acknowledged as the most stirring anthem in the world!

  • This never fails to send a chil down my spine and makes me grow another 6 inches . CYMRU AM BYTH

  • So proud

  • Half english and Half Welsh i am

  • sorry to burst your bubble lads but not all Welsh people are of celtic decent. south wales people on the whole are of Mediterranean racial stock. e.g, Cathryn Zeta Jones, Gareth Edwards, Chris Coleman, Rob Brydon, etc. these swarthy individuals could easily pass for people from Portugal or Spain.

  • @paulmac38 just because theyre not pure celtic doesnt mean theyre not celtic.... and at the end of the day both the UK, Australia and America are widely known for its mixed populations

  • @paulmac38 But some people in porugal and spain can pass as irish or welsh with blond hair and red hair and lighter skin

  • @paulmac38 But they are certainly more Welsh than mediterranean, we welsh have always had darker skin than the rest of britain, but there are some who had ancestors from the Silure in 50BC tribe which was half Welsh, half Iberian, which Iberian is half celt half spanish.

  • Very proud of my Welsh roots even though i am a staunch Kiwi.

  • It sounds better as a violin instrumental.

  • i from wales and havent been home in years and never wanted to......until now

  • Although I'm Dutch this is making me feel at HOME !!

  • Athough I'm Dutch this is making me feel at HOME !!

  • O'r diwedd! The full three verses! Gwych! Makes you proud to be Welsh!

  • i am scottish, but to all my Celtic brothers and sisters, they the english may have takiing from us in the past, but they will never own our spirit, souls or freedom,

  • @dtp1888 all the Brits are is germans who got to england and porked with roman soldiers

  • @FogiTofu what a kn ob you are. you cant even write properly in English and for your information, the Welsh language was spoken in the whole of Britain before foreigners arrived, including the so called english and german. The UK belongs to the Celts and our brothers/sisters etc. where we were born and bred and and had our our PRINCE OF WALES , not one that was forced upon us and still is (and he is the biggest kn ob and hypocrite there is). So research your history and shut your gob!

  • my cry good sound!!!!!

  • @bistrologue I'm Breton too! :D

As an amateur singer, I find this tune particularly good to warm up one's voice.

Plus, it's "our" song, right? Six lands, one soul! Breizh da viken! :D

(Désolée de répondre en anglais, mais je voulais que les autres puissent comprendre ;) )

  • CYMRU AM BYTH

  • As a Welsh speaking Welshman working abroad I am very proud of my National Anthem. I have sung this Anthem in Germany, Egypt, Tunis Spain and several other countries, and i have never had to síng it alone.

  • If god blesses me in any way then he blessed me with being welsh thankyou lord x

  • I'm So Proud To Be Welsh

  • death to the English...oh wait...umm...death to all English but me

  • @brettsworld99 its not us who used violence in the first place ahaha...cheeky

  • finally - a video with the full anthem!

  • I feel so homesick! living in Texas! god bless the welsh!

  • It's funny so hear the choir to sing it in time and the lead singer trying to jazz it up a little, Which is very unsettling.

Then when the female singer came on, then it was perfect.

  • Sweet music to one's ears! What other words can be used to describe such singing?

  • A beautiful rendition. My father was from the Rhondda, and I played this on the organ at his funeral. Thank you for sharing this lovely version.

  • Beautiful!!! I am a Scottish Gaelic speaker but I understand a little Welsh too - it's lovely, there's something about the song that grips me

  • @bistrologue the welsh are celts too

  • i have a grandma who lives in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, commonly shortened to Llanfairpwll, small town BIG name lol

  • my 19 yr old lad an englishman has been called to preach the gospel on the streets of Cardiff to try and get the spirit (holy) back into the welsh nation. Wales you have a great heritage of revival that changed the face of the valleys and beyond (not to mention the rugby) but like us sad english you look back at former glory. Guide us o thou great Jehovah.

  • @fish5133 Colonisers out.

  • @owainmeurig ..the english misunderstand this statement.....colonisers are people who dont learn any welsh culture or Even respect.its existence....my friends were told to shutup in sir fflint for speaking welsh

  • @3tangle3 I'm from flintshire and am surprised by that.

  • @owainmeurig ...no lie :( this was in the Glannau Dyfrdwy area. suppose its no surpries..

.fascinating though off topic to read recently welsh was spoke upto 1750 in western areas of shropshire cheshire, herefordshire and gloucestershire

  • @fish5133 well he better start learning welsh if hes to be a respected...........ppl from across the border preaching has never feared too well.................this is why we had a revival.....a non conformist revivial with no interference by english church doctrine

  • Can anybody teach me how to pronounce this beautiful anthem? I'm from Argentina and I would really like to sing it but I dont know anything about the beautiful Cymru language.

    Thanks.

  • @TalaJenta A ddylai fe d'alw di'n gont, te?

  • Why oh why England sings god save the queen when there are many english patriotic songs. Scotland and Wales got their own anthem why cant we?

  • @firefly361 The English are just not as sentimental I think. To phlegmatic and not as inclined to believe there own propaganda. I think basically the English let the truth get in the way of a good story. That's from Scotsman and admirer of the English character.

  • @TalaJenta shut up prick my first language is welsh i barely speak english

  • @011if001 Druan ti'n ffaelu deall y geiriau, te

  • @bazotter well dwi gallu deall yr holl peth diolch yn fawr :)

  • this song is a discrase. i have lived in wales all my life and my whole family have been born and bread from wales not to mention some large welsh name's as part of my family. the national anthem is about war and how our forefather's fought for our country. this is a jazzed up version of the song and i find it terrible for people to even like this. it's an outrage to be quite honest.

  • This version is just so beautiful and makes me so proud to have be born and Bred a Welsh man. Living in Israel its wonderful to here my Countries voice. Cymru am Byth!

  • Weeping and homesick :o(

  • i am asian but for me the most and indeed powerfull anthem on earth. VIVA WALES

  • THE best anthem in the world. At least it's about your country and not "praising" the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha/Schleswig-Holstein-Sondeburg-Glucksberg over-paid whankers in Buck House. But, some of us English can look beyond those politically- correct new arrivals.

  • my sis lives in llantrisant, and i've been in wales many times.

An impressive country, with an impressive past.

    Kind regards from Holland!

    Marc

  • cymru gods countr but when the visitors turn up its hell on the roads

  • My Grandad was from Brynmaur, I love this :-)

  • I'm a American and I LOVE this song. God Bless the Welsh!!!!

  • I'm from Airdrie, Scotland. My wife from Rhydfellin, Pontypridd. We live in my home town. Have had a Welsh flag flying in the garden for last 2 years. My son wears a Welsh rugby top constantly. Our kids have Welsh names. Greatest folk on earth bar none.

  • Brought happy tears to my eyes. Thank you. X

  • @Gersroolz thank u for noticing that my celtic brother

  • welsh and very proud may the dragon live on forever

  • I am a Scot formally married to a Llanelli lass, there is in a thousand years no more noble anthem. It is about the people the culture the language the land. It expresses everything an anthem should do,wonderful, or as they say in Llanelli -Brilliant!

  • one of the best anthems in the world

  • The best anthem of them all...from all ur friends n celtic cousins in Ireland!!!!

  • Wish us well against the English later today

    Cymru am byth

  • prophetwolf

    Nice intelligent, incisive comment.

About what I would expect from a redneck retard.

Now go back to practicing on your banjo in case they do a remake of "Deliverance"

  • @rampcleaner

    Morgan forever x2!

  • oh my god goosebumps!!!

  • I'm a proud Welshman, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau brings tears to the eyes at Cardiff when sung with 75,000 other voices. This jazzed up version is poor and makes God Save the Queen sound emotional

  • We have welsh in our ancestry and looking it up, on here, and on google, it seems like an amazing culture!! Makes me proud to be as little as I am make me proud to be welsh though!!

  • I'm with welshi1122,I'm half welsh, my mother was born in Swansea, best anthem and always brings a tear to my eye......

  • If this dunce is so proud of being Welsh, why has he sung the anthem in a generic Celtic-export idiom?

  • Of course we weep with pride when we sing our National Anthem. And then we wipe away our tears and beat the crap out of the English at rugby - its a man's game after all, and the English male ain't actually male !

  • Ddylet ti ddim ddweud pethau fel, ti'n rhoi enw drwg inni gyd.

  • im so proud to be able to say i went to one of the greatest welsh girls schools in england. R.I.P st davids, ashford

  • :') beautiful

  • Beautiful country, beautiful anthem.

    Wales <3

    - An Englishman

  • My dad was a Welsh Guard 1945 -1969

  • Well, i like him already! I'm serving with 1st btn atm

  • @kittyburgha

He didn't do a very good job - they got out!

  • It is really lovely, although I am american. It may, to me, seem an odd language, but it is beautiful all the same. :)

  • Bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

    Duw bydd gyda chi

  • and barbarians rul... my father who has just died was born in Neath and this shall be played at his funeral

  • and you think english is'nt, the welsh langauge is the old langauge, the english langauge is a mix of barbarian language anyway...

  • Well, technically anything that wasn't Roman was considered barbarian, so that would include Welsh.

  • @chris2138 what sort of dumb comment is that?

As if the Celts weren't considered Barbarians?

Learn your history so you can avoid making such ignorant comments.

  • My grandfather was from Pontypridd. I am a proud Welshman!!

  • im so proud to be welsh

    (CYMRU AM BYTH)

  • We will never forget Lance Sergeant Tobie Fasfous Welsh Guards

  • neither will i butt, i'm ex welsh guards

  • Shivers down my spine, every time I hear this.

Downloaded it to my phone aswell..

  • ARDDERCHOG!

    CUMRU AM BYTH!!!

  • Bro gozh ma zadou, anthem of Bretons... Bretons and Cornish use the same tune in honor of their welsh brothers.

    Great song! Very patriotic

  • i'm welsh and like every other true welman and woman on the planet, i love my country and it's anthem but this version wasn't fit for recording. i lasted up until 1:20 before i paused it.

it's almost like the guys hiding from the song.

  • navnig, I beat you, lasted 'til 1.02. Makes me boil when somebody takes such a passionate song and gives it the Bontempi-Karaoke-Club singer version. Best Anthem in the world for me, there are much better renditions on Youtube (even the drunken ones).

I am currently teaching my children Mae hen wlad fy nhadau and I think they'd do a better job than this!! GREAT landscape pics tho!! Is there a better landscape anywhere else in the world than this country of mine?? I doubt it. CYMRU AM BYTH.

  • yup, i almost flagged it as inappropriate!

it's the best sound in the world when a male choir sings it in my opinion and as for the scenery you're bang on right but i've been living in the shetland islands for quite a few years now and the coastline here has to be seen to be believed in places, try googling eshaness or just shetland. it's beautiful in all weather.

    CYMRU AM BYTH!

  • Well I stuck it out to the end just to see. And despite the fake emotion that Max Boyce tries to put in. I still cried as I sang it, but what a poor version it certainly was. The best ones are sung at the end of the Eisteddfodau if you ask me.

  • cymru am byth mae y can yma meddwl mor gymaint or galon whyl ir wyl a twll tin pob sais british banger dim bud ond un flags sy yn iawn ur un hefo y ddraig goch arno cymru cymraeg holl y ffordd

  • We love to show pictures of castles which really are symbols of English oppression. There are more castles in Wales relative to its size than in any other country in the world.

  • This knocks "God Save the Queen" into a cocked hat, The only anthems that come close are the old Soviet National Anthem and the French (Sorry, don't think I can spell Marseillaise properly). I AM loyal to the crown; I am talking about the tunes.

Most Irish songs you hear on St.Patrick's Day are Tin Pan Alley or made in Hollywood. Welsh tunes are traditional and come from our Celtic hearts. Have a good day.

    Hwyl fawr.

  • Mate.....i'm English and i agree. What a wonderful tune/song.

  • My father spent some time in Wales and absolutely loved it, and missed it so much when he returned home that this song (amongst a few) would flood our house whenever he was stressed. He had nothing but good things to say about Wales and its people. Such soulful melody. Perhaps I should visit it myself someday...

  • This is a Welsh and a Celtic Anthem not a British one typical English tryin to claim it under the British banner......Ur rite tho they are a proud nation and our friends in Ireland!!!!! Hope ye do a job on saturday against the English lads!!!! from a Celtic cousin in Ireland.....long live Wales!!!!

  • *Yawn* Welcome to the 12st century mate. Get the chip off of your shoulder.

  • The best national anthem in the United Kingdom. As a very proud Britain, this really does touch the soul and fill you with pride, passion and belief. No wonder the Welsh national Rugby team are so good, with 70,000+ proud Welsh singing this absolutely beautiful anthem, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end with pride. I'm English and live in envy!

  • Thank You... Diolch! :D

  • im crying like a baby, thinking of my dad, CYMRU AM BYTH

so so so proud to be welsh

  • yn gwilio'r clip hyn fi'n teimlo mor hapus i fod yn dyn cymraeg. Fi'n gobeithio fod pawb arall yn teimlo'r un peth ambwyty hwn.

  • I´m writing from Asturias (Spain), another celtic land. While i was watching this wonderful video an d listening the Welsh Anthem i felt deep inside something marvelous, and had a dream... Maybe, one day we can see the union of all the celtic lands

  • I love being welsh :)

  • My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,

    The language of Cambria lives out to this day;

The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,

The harp of my country survives.

    =]

Very rare to hear this verse.

  • oOCaillechOo:

Though foreigners tread my land under their feet

The language of Wales to my ears is still sweet

Unhindered her spirit by treason's vile hand

Nor the melodious harp of her land.

    (Cyfiethiad gan Evan Owen)

The last line, "Telyn berseiniol fy ngwlad", was used by Robin Huw Bowen as the title of one of his albums of Welsh harp music.

    Evan Owen

  • Born in UK, however my Moms family are from Wales, I wear a Welsh Rugby shirt as i'm more proud of my welsh heritage, Love the song !!

  • Thank you =]

  • Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,

    Each hill and each valley, excite my regards;

To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems

The music that flows in her streams.

(Cambria is another name for Wales when the UK was split into kingdoms during the saxons.)

  • Chorus

Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!

While sea her wall, may naught befall

To mar the old language of Wales.

  • English translation.

The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,

    The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;

The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,

While bleeding for freedom of yore.

  • Cymru am Byth!

  • whenever i sing or hear this it brings tears to my eyes.

  • As a Scotsman it almost pains me to say it but Im going to anways, This is by far the Best National Anthem ever!

Ok, Flower Of Scotland is great, but this is just so emotional.

  • Pretty Amazing.

  • The Welsh National Anthem is the bestest Anthem in the whole World! i love in Beddgelert in Gwynedd and i love listening to this! CYMRU AM BYTH!!

  • <3 Best anthem ever. tbh.

And I don't do patriotism that much.

  • Yes, poor england ;]

  • More Welsh people should look for independence.

  • For nationhood!

  • wales has got this wonerful song. weve got God save the queen!!!Poor old England.

  • ...and the welsh have some really good singers!

  • I live in Pontypridd where they wrote the anthem, there is a plaque saying "Yma y bu fyw Evan James a'i fab James pan yn 1856 gyfansoddasant Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadu," which means " Here lived Evan James and his son James when they composed Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadu in 1856."

Makes me proud to be welsh!

  • I know Pontypridd. I like the place very much. I live in West Wales though. This father and son who wrote the song.....they were poor weavers if I am correct. Weren't they? I read Gwyn Alf's book 'When was Wales?' He speaks of 'The Gwerin'....ie Cultured working class. Undoubtedly, these two were members of that group. I am proud too. :-)

  • i live in pontypridd 2 :)

our national anthem is far better than any other :)

  • Brilliant! Best anthem of all time!

  • proud to be welsh
