I do have to say, this isn't a "naughty" horse, yes, she bucks, so what, a lot of horses buck the first time the get a saddle on. I do start when they are young though, so we have a "bound", that way they trust a more when you put a saddle on. Th efact that I write that I train a horse, not break it, is because I just hate the term break.
A broken horse isn't a horse anymore, in my eyes, it's a robot. And I want a horse to ride. And yes, I do not whip them either, think that is totally unnecassary! And yes, sometimes it is animal abuse. The main thing I do around horse is being normal. Though my normal can differ from other people's normal. About the training a horse to get used to a saddle: take your time, let them get used to EVERYTHING and don't be afraid to go a step back. So, how do you train them? or break them..

@mywindyhorse No actually they don't I AM an english rider, at my barn we have 2 quarter horses, 1 I jump the second one is also a jumper never had lameness and both were barrel horses. the hold the horn because the have a rope tied around to encourage the horses to gallop on the way home after the third barrel. I personally like english only because of jumping but that doesn't mean western is easier, they work just as hard as we do, we ALL have to stay balanced. Go western and english Go! ....

umm, saddle sores dont develop over one ride! and you have to be on the horses BACK because thats when the dirt gets rubbed into their skin and causes irritation. dont act like you know everything, cause you really dont.

About the training a horse to get used to a saddle: take your time, let them get used to EVERYTHING and don't be afraid to go a step back. So, how do you train them? or break them..

@xmenrvd how about patience and under standing your horse and not getting all stressed with it beating it to ship with whips, we take time with our horses we don't put tack on straight away get on it and fucking let it go wild in a fucking arena with us on its back! We take it slowly and train them well unlike SOME people who just let i go bonking in the arena with some person its back ya thick fuck!

@stardustmypony westren riders think running around barrels is hard but it takes no skill especially cause the every single one holds on to the horn the whole time so they dont fall off. western horses also have a lot more lameness issues than english horses. go english go

@mywindyhorse No actually they don't I AM an english rider, at my barn we have 2 quarter horses, 1 I jump the second one is also a jumper never had lameness and both were barrel horses. the hold the horn because the have a rope tied around to encourage the horses to gallop on the way home after the third barrel. I personally like english only because of jumping but that doesn't mean western is easier, they work just as hard as we do, we ALL have to stay balanced. Go western and english Go! ....

It dosent matter if you were 12 and riding bulls, (as if you were) when riding you NEVER know whats going to happen if it's your first time riding or your thousandth, wear a helmt, my trainers BEST FRIEND died when she was 15 when riding without a helmet and they both grew up riding horses.

Why should the Indians be their friends? Because they stole them (whether running free or whether they "borrowed" or raided and stole, they just used them for their own purposes in hunting and war. The Spaniards brought them over in the first place. If anyone deserves to be their "friends", it would be the people who originally brought them over... which is really all nonsense anyway. Protecting the herds is important, but so is managing the herds- aka adopting out to keep numbers in check.

@BeatOfFreedom i ride my horse bareback and bridleless and i aint indian, i broke her that way so just cause the indians did that isnt anything special. they did have saddles of sorts, they were made of bone and it was more of just thesaddle tree with a blanket on it and straps for stirrups. and they even used western saddles when they got their hands on them, they used what they could. maby you should read up on your history before you go spouting crap k?

umm, saddle sores dont develop over one ride! and you have to be on the horses BACK because thats when the dirt gets rubbed into their skin and causes irritation. dont act like you know everything, cause you really dont.

Would pay to see a video of someone trying the "carrot stick" approach (as if it's the magic faery wand). Mustangs aren't sissy lala... doesn't mean they are bad, just means they are "Army Strong". Lol I see you think you know more than you do :) Not all horses will buck when introduced to a saddle thats true but many will no matter what you may think. Break horses for a job and you may understand, some horses just like to buck, others do it for various reasons. Not to mention if its something you do a lot you don't have a year to run around playing some pat parrellie friendly game. this is how its done in the real world, the horse is just havin a good time.
