1:45 what the hell whys the midrange unit moving so much? as if something's wrong with the crossover, it's certainly no 2.5-way system...

heard them yesterday with some stupid Chili Peppers test CD, the P6's aren't too bad, they revealed the compression in the recording even in quite a noisy environment. just a tiny little bit of coloration in the upper bass and the crossover between mids and tweeter that could be a bit better, but overall nice speaker, but overpriced as compared to competitors

I like the monitor audio gold series or PL200 more, but the best price/performance ratio i've heard so far is by a greek loudspeaker manufacturer called Audio Spectrum. They're just the most balanced and neutral speakers I've heard, they impressed me even more than MBL's reference MKII speakers!

i don't think there is anything wrong with the x-over, i just think it is crossed higher than "normal" thus there is not much excursion in the frequencies.

the question was actually why is midrange unit shows excursion, because it shouldn't. The midrange is moving, meaning that subsonic content is passing through the x-over.

no, the subsonic content is what a record produces and anyway it would have been filtered out anyway by the amplifier because it subsonic (<30hz), the midrange shows excursion because that is what it has to do to make the sounds, and by the looks of it the x-over to the mid is <500hz which would require the cone to move and therefore it would be visible in order to produce the spl. Anyway if the mid was producing <30hz at those volume is would be bottoming out alot

was just wondering because i saw it making short pulses which is quite unusual for midrange. amps usually dont have problems handling subsonic content even below 10Hz, but thats not the point. there isnt alot of info about the crossover around, but i found its a 2nd order crossover which actually explains why some low frequencies are passing through.

oh i meant the amp normally filters out content below a certain threshold e.g 20<hz because the human ear can't hear it, it is more felt than heard, but also the speaker is normally unable to reproduce it. Yeah the slope of the x-over would explain why the mid is moving so much.

Your mid has a small bump (outwards pointing). This occurs often to M.S. loudspeakers. I don't know why....Look at one o'clock position at the mid speaker and you will see a small bump. It will be costless repaired bij M.S. I sell those!

I had a pair of mordaunt short classics 10 years ago and they were fantastic, I gotta have a listen to these and compare to the monitor audio camparable set I think S8 and listen to which is best.

I have a pair of mordaunt short 880, connected with 2 threshold SA/2 Class A, and I just can say this to you.. I can't find anything with that quality and fidelity. I really know the sound I have, that is great, but I just see that when I go to a store and I ask to listen the sound of their best speakers.
