  • the voice at 1:45 caught me off guard, and it felt incredible

  • wow,now im going to dig At The Gates,In Flames and Dark Tranquility, awesome bands!

  • This album is epic.

  • in flames would still be awsome if mikael stanne stayed the vocalist

  • Excelent song.great album

  • A 6 gyas no les gusta esta belleza echa canción,

  • 100,000+ views... only 367 likes... AND 6 DISLIKES!?!? What the hell is wrong with people?

  • best melodic death band

  • @orpheuscna

Suidakra a little bit better than Dark Tranquility, but hey, it's all opinions

  • how can you dislike this song its the shiz ne!!

  • can someone can find the animation of that song ???? i mean the animation that play on every live

  • yea you are right but inserted a new ryhtim into melodic death metal with DT. I think DT and in flames are so diffrent between other bands.

  • i wish the whole song sounded like the intro.

  • Greatest melodic death metal band ever! Also in my opinion, the best death metal vocalist ever.

  • Bellisima cancion. Una de las mejores de Dark Tranquillity, y una de las mejores de el Melodeath.

  • Comment removed

  • Truly classic, modern metal bands can dream of inspiration and beauty that Dark Tranquillity have..

  • Punish my Heaven and I'll burn your Gallery -.-

  • Hey check out Inner Fortress. They're kinda cool. The vocalist sounds a bit like the vocalist from Dark Tranquility.

  • thumbs up if you like the female singer in this song with the rhythmic metal in the background.

  • In Flames hasn't been Melodic Death since 2001. Stop comparing them.

  • This sound nothing like old in flames.

  • Let's not get into an IF vs DT fight, I mean they're both basically the same band, and they're both great.

  • eva-maria larson has a great voice with the rythmic metal

  • Skål to Mikael Stanne, the king of metal poets.

  • This one isn't really my favorite album of theirs... And by that, I mean this album beats the living shit out of every other album from every other band I've ever heard. Ever. But not QUITE as much as the others do.

  • it's funny how IF and DT are considered the pioneers of melodeath, and Anders Friden was the vocalist of both bands.

  • @FenderFM212 So was Mikael Stanne :-P AND Stanne also played guitar for DT while friden was singing. So Stanne has him beat.

  • @FenderFM212 So was Mikael Stanne :-P AND Stanne also played guitar for DT while friden was singing. So Stanne has him beat. Also Stanne did clean vocals while playing guitar for DT with Friden on vox.

  • @FenderFM212 So was Mikael Stanne.

  • @FenderFM212 it is funny how i like both IF and DT, but not Anders....:/

  • @FenderFM212 The same could be said for Mikael Stanne...

  • girl vokal amazing.

  • cECK OUT THE new VIDEO !

  • @o6one9o from when IF were orgasmical , now they are just semi - orgasmical :( lol

  • I live through this album every day of my life... a debt to Dark Tranquility that I will never forget...

  • Dark Tranquility and In Flames

  • Saw them yesterday and they played this live:)

  • no idea why, but i dont really think i liked the jester race that much. i LOVED this though, favorite melodeath album of all time

  • @brinjennasbriin what?

  • The classic melodic death metal

  • a single, pathetic human disliked this XD

  • @Ifrid87 theres gotta be a whole batch of humans who dislike awesome music out there

  • i just got the deluxe edition of this album, and i must report that IT KICKS ASS

  • I just love those melodic acoustic breaks in the song, and the girl's singing voice elevates the song to a whole new level. This song proves how metal music can be raised to an art form without being 10,20 or 45 minutes long (looking at you Dream theatre, and you metallica)

  • @bloodbunny156 a 1 minute song can be art aswell, it has nothing to do with songlength, but with musicianship

  • this sounds similar to Death

  • If I could, I would eat this album

  • megadeth - good morning black friday lol

  • Hands down in the top 5 albums of scandinavian metal.

  • Merci pour les 5 votes. perfect album.

  • a fucking great song, its a shame that they never played live.

  • There are so many great melodeath bands from here up north! :D

Admittedly, I don't know a single good one from my own country, but Sweden and Finland are DEFINITELY leading when it comes to good melodic death.

If you love melodeath, and haven't heard of Insomnium, don't waste another second! Search for them here on YouTube - at least, that's my advise! :)

  • @SelfProclaimedGamer The Finnish scene is kinda losing its thunder imo...CoB and Norther kinda went commercial, Wintersun continues to not do shit, the only one thats really still strong is Kalmah. Sweden still has a strong scene tho, and hell at this point even Americas scene isn't too bad. The Finnish scene kinda peaked like 5 years ago imo.

  • @sm0kenmirrhurz92 Don't forget Insomnium; they're still kickass!

  • @professorbadass69 Insomnium is solid, though its funny that I got this response over a year since I posted this comment, I barley listen to melodeath at all anymore to tell you the truth, inb4 wave of thumbs downs.

  • @sm0kenmirrhurz92 What did you find to be better than melodeath? Just curious xD

  • @K6Mace Ive generally gravitated towards music that isn't so...formulaic. I guess you could say Im more of a prog guy these days.

  • @sm0kenmirrhurz92 That's not a bad turn at all... And I think I'm heading there as well xD Any good bands you would recommend?

  • @K6Mace Some of my favorite bands/musicians currently are Devin Townsend, Opeth, Karnivool, Al di Meola, anything Ron Jarzombek, Fredrik Thordendals Special Defects/Meshuggah, Porcupine Tree, Liquid Tension Experiment, Between the Buried and Me, Allan Holdsworth, Isis, The Ocean, sure youve heard of at least a few of them lol

  • @SelfProclaimedGamer Russian Melodic Death metal seams to be where it is at, so many new incredible Russian bands.

  • @Heartly07 what are some Russian MDM bands you'd recommend :)

  • @Heartly07 which ones are good that you can suggest?

  • J'ai 34 ans, j'écoute depuis 1996,

    Sublime, best sound, mélodique, cérébral.

  • i love this song...yeah!!!....dark tranquility en Mexico...yupi =)

  • @MrD6M6K6: Either that, or they're mislabelled as metalcore, apparently. Then again, considering what falls under the label, I have no idea what should be called metalcore.

  • the chick voice is amazing

  • @spartannoob very true her voice contributes greatly to the song and its atmosphere

  • This album is the best of all time, im so sentimental right now that Im almost crying :P

    AWESOME!

  • fucking incredible, even after all these years, they have stayed true to who they are! I love this album! I love listening to this album and then listening to we are the void, its just amazing how they can sound like this right out of the gate! Post Anders Friden: i dont like ander's vocal style! To me this is DT's first album.

  • @RammFan89 i agree 100%

  • My favorite DT's Album

    \m/ DT \m/

  • Comment removed

  • this album is a epic and the others dt albuns are great.

  • @kaymanklynman

This is the album that's put melodic deathmetal to my mind for the first time. Thanks DT!!! A very unique album indeed

  • Are Clean vocals made by a woman?

  • sure they are...

  • @compagnolupo yea the clean vocs are a woman are deaf?

  • This album is my fucking relligion

  • xD why cant the newer bands sound like this

  • @firetrix93 Because people nowadays just want money.

So they put minor effort in their music and put up new albums every frigging month so their wallets doesnt feel so lonely.

  • @firetrix93 I know right? Every new melodic death metal band doesn't really sound like death metal at all. It either sounds like some Power Metal Children of Bodom stuff, some Metalcore hybrid, or heavy metal with growls, with no death metal characteristics in the music.

  • @ShimmySystem Try Garden of Shadows, they only have 1 ep and 1 album but they sound melodic with actual death metal vocals. The funny thing is there from America but sound pure European style. (:

  • @firetrix93 because the newer bands make music to become famous so they arent real musicians

  • @firetrix93 No worries... I'll bring this instrument back to this world, when Im done practicing music and formed a band "Unforgiven"... But not yet

  • @firetrix93 just because they're not DT or IF :D

  • @firetrix93 even dt cant sound like this anymore xD

  • @ACEGRdz your right but i think [my opinion] that DT is the longest standing Melodeath Band

  • @firetrix93 there are, but that fact that this music is older now and in the past many bands attempting to bring back the old school fail at it

  • This sounds more like old In Flames than In Flames does.

  • @Xenorex247 my opinion DT blow in flames big time even if i love in flames .. i think both got their tendence

  • @Xenorex247 hahahahah

  • @Xenorex247 wait are you saying this sounds more like old in flames than OLD in flames, or in flames now? sry i just woke up and that statement is confusing the shit out of me

  • @Brian3987 I meant In Flames now, sorry for any confusion.

  • @Xenorex247 Old or new .. old in flames cannot resist , u must think more than 1000 times b4 u talk about in flames .. btw Dark Tranquillity is a fucken great band too .. \m/

  • Comment removed

  • @Xenorex247 that's probably because Mikael and Anders Fridén used to work together in the early 90's. by far one of my favorite albums of all time right along with The Jester Race

  • @Xenorex247

Maybe because Melodic Death stems from Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and At The Gates, so it's natural they would sound alike at more or less the same time.

DT has been more faithful to its roots but IF is a great band as well.

  • @Banana666 I wouldn't say that all melodic death metal stems from them, just that hose three bands came out with the gothenburg sound.

  • @Banana666 I wouldn't say all melodic death metal stems from them. But they sound alike because those three bands pretty much made the gothenburg sound.

  • @Xenorex247 because dark tranquility and in flames swapped vocalists aha

  • @Huzzawful genius! aha

  • @Xenorex247

I think it's the same vocalist here as on Lunar Strain and Subterrean.

  • @TrickbustersMirrored It's the same vocalist as on Lunar Strain but not same as on Subterranean.

  • @CyB3rM3GaMUUMI

    Ok, thanks for the correction.

  • @Xenorex247

In Flames only wish they'd sound like this :D

  • @Xenorex247 old in flames? its a joke?

  • @elmorris666

The Jester Race is one of the best albums of Melodic Death metal.

They are called "The Melodic Three" (Just joking, made that name up, but it has a nice ring to it doesn't it?)

At the Gate's "Slaughter of the Soul"

    In Flames's "The Jester Race"

And last but not least, Dark Tranquillity's "The Gallery"

Those three albums are legendary, and if anyone disagrees, they're not metal.

  • @CrimsonScyth thank you for showing me those other songs

  • @watthefrack02 No problem mate

  • @CrimsonScyth And they're all yellowish/orangish LOL

  • @CrimsonScyth Number 4; Gates of Ishtar - Trail of Tears. Number 5 : Unanimated - Ancient God of Evil. ...Now the list is complete :))

  • @puppetmasterblaster Put some Eucharist in there as well

  • @CrimsonScyth Not so shure about Slaughter of the Soul, I think it's rather a bad combination of thrash and melodic death metal, Detonations - An Epic Defiance conbines it in the right way, but that just my opinion.

  • @EverxOpeningxFlower

I like that album too, but I still really prefer Slaughter of the Soul.

It's not just the thrash and melodic death metal combination that I like about it, it's also the way they've managed to keep their Gothenburg sound while still being able to keep it thrashy and melodic.

The tone of the instruments, the vocal style, it's just pure metal.

  • @CrimsonScyth Well I'm digging it too lately, still prefer their debut album the Red in the Sky is Ours, that album is one of my favorites, if not, my favorite album of all time.

  • @EverxOpeningxFlower

    Love that album too :P

  • @CrimsonScyth Eh, "The Red in the Sky is Ours" is far better than "Slaughter of the Soul", and "The Jester Race" is really just riding on the success of SotS (hell, it even sounds a little similar to it). "Subterranean" was In Flames best release, imo (hell, it had the better vocalist).

But "The Gallery"? No question here. This is album is supreme and does everything right.

  • @CrimsonScyth SotS fucking sucks. The Red In The Sky Is Ours destroys it.

And In Flames have never produced anything good.

  • @Fuelofwar77

In Flames have never produced anything good?

Look at how big In Flames are, do you think they got there by not producing anything good?

Go make a band bigger than In Flames, then say they've never produced anything good, because what you just said there is fucking retarded.

  • @CrimsonScyth It's called accessibility. Because of such, a lot of people like them. That's why they are popular. It's merely my opinion that they are not good.

And the part where you basically say "well why don't you try to make something better?" is where your argument failed.

  • @Fuelofwar77 SotS is badass, sure the other album's pretty good too, but SotS is a total landmark, the true pioneer of melodic death metal

  • @zerototalchaos A pioneer of generic, formulaic melodeath, actually. Meh.

  • @CrimsonScyth Amon Amarth - "Versus The World"

  • @CrimsonScyth

Actually, my thoughts exactly (regarding your melodic 3) :)

These are for sure the best 3 melo-death albums ever. Unfortunately, from these 3 great bands, only DT keeps it up... Shame in flames!

  • does anyone think this would make an awesome half sleeve arm tattoo because i am seriously considering it

  • @doefromwherever yeah with some lyrics put on there too...itd be sick dude :)

  • @doefromwherever it is a really amazing album cover. i think this image could be a great tattoo.

  • hehe i dont really know exactly hee sorry for that xD cuz im mexican so the name of the country is suiza xD but yes in goin there!!!! \,,/ [º.º] \,,/

  • johnnyredzin i agree with u

i'll go to zwitserland just were they are in flames ,at the gates and dark tranquility ohh yeaahh!!!

  • Uhhhh.....you mean Sweden?

  • @franzeror lol

  • the whole album kicks ass! and there's no words for their musicianship. They didn't learn how to play on the way like many other bands did! they already knew how to back in 1995!

  • Agree whit you that u can tell they know how to play they instrument ! and yeah the hole album kick ass i got myself nad its a 10 on 10 album

  • SATANIC EGGROLLS!

    \m/(-_-)\m/

  • KICK ASS!!

  • Man! The music, the memories. This is so good!

  • great very great band and songs....

  • Just got done listening to In flames- Lunar strain, this is a great album to listen to after it.

  • @l3tl3v before

  • Hey! Great song :) Would someone mind telling me who the woman is singing in this? Thanks. x

  • "Eva-Marie Larsson", according to the wiki page

  • One of my favorite songs... It's like my brain just turns off and goes into a trance.

  • FANTASTICO

  • Amazingly amazing.

  • good good

  • this is a kick ass song

  • should i write something?

  • Epic song.
