@JPMOLLINEAU Wildc.a.t.s comics were cooler. X-men was plain gay until Jim Lee changed the entire thing but since it wasn't his creation he had to leave to Image. Honestly, I wasn't even an X-men fan until Jim Lee took over, cuz they were plain queer before. If Jim Lee just created Wildcats and never jumped into X-men, it would've had more recognition and no one would've said it was a copy.
@ShinLa83 OMG you are such a freaking artard. X-men SET a standard that NO OTHER COMIC has been able to reach. Claremont's writing regardless if you consider it good or bad made xmen the coveted franchise that it is today. Furthermore, as much as I like Jim Lee...he is given WAY too much credit and praise. His early work in Alpha Flight is horrible and will shock you back to your senses. Secondly his plots and storylines SUCK majorly. No wonder wildcats flopped eventually.
Actually the WildCATs show was ended but the comics went into other story lines for Wildstorm comics such as World Storm, etc. Not only that but The Grifter now has his own stand alone comic that just started coming out with the other new 52 comics for DC as Wildstorm is owned by DC.
ahahaha oh wow, this brings back memories. I used to think that they're X-Men of an alternate dimension (lots of parallels between WildC.A.T.S and X-Men)
@ge5undhe17 LOL, that's not a coincidence... Jim Lee left Marvel to help form Image Comics, and since he couldn't take his X-Men stories with him he just made up a *ahem* 'Uncannily' similar team.

He's called The Grifter. He has/had psychic abilities but they were eventually sealed off which caused his abilities to instead manifest as an unstable healing factor.
@renagadeprdgy I actually compared Gritter more to Gambit since they were similar. Mainly as being able to talk their way out of situations and being thieves. He was hitting on one of the girls but I forgot who it was making it similar to Gambit and Rogue's relationship.
I miss all the action adventure cartoons from the 90's. Most of the major networks have long since canned their cartoon blocks, now awesome stuff like this just doesn't exist on the airwaves.
@AxeltheRose Yeah Huey is right. Jim Lee made the WildCATS after he split from Marvel and co-founded Image. I've always thought it was so he could continue making X-Men comics without being sued. :-)
But definitely an Image publication, and then later a short-lived revival at DC after they bought WildStorm (Lee's company).
@AxeltheRose Wild C.A.T.s was created by Jim Lee and Wild Storm Studios, and was published by IMAGE COMICS (now owned by DC Comics). MARVEL had nothing to do with it.

Here's a funny bit; this show features aliens fighting each other for the fate of Earth. But what pushed the limit of suspension of disbelief for my best bud and I when we were kids? When Warblade wanted to enter a Karate competition. We deemed he would be disqualified because his hands could turn into axes and stuff and thus deemed the show "too unrealistic". What can I say? We were kids.
i remember this... i was just thinkin bout this theme song and the show a couple days ago.... this song go hard!!!... the 90's cartoons definitely had the best theme songs!!!
@MrVoidsec Yeah, One of Jim Lee's best creations. You can definitely see his X-Men influences (Psylocke in Zealot, Cyclops in Spartan, Beast in Titan)...I just realized what a geek I am.
I remember after this show got cancelled, Alan Moore made fun of the intro in one of the WildC.A.T.S. issues he wrote, as the song played on a television off camera in the WildC.A.T.S HQ. Excellent scene. Terrible song.
@Taud Except this cartoon didn't come out in the 80s. It came out in the 90s, two years after Batman: The Animated Series premiered. We had high expectations for cartoons at that time, which this series didn't deliver.
On a side note, are you kidding? The 80s had the best animated theme songs, almost none of which were metal.
second i didnt say shit about batman wtf are u talking about that for? a lot of them had metal guitar themes stop talking shit just for the sake of argument : P
@Taud I'm the one who brought up Batman, to make a point. WildC.A.T.s came out in '94 (You said it came out in the 80s). Arguably the greatest animated series of all time, Batman, had been on the air for two years already. My point was, our standards for this kind of stuff was much higher now. This show didn't deliver on what could have been a fantastic series and theme song.
@Taud And you are probably referring to the '90s as having a lot of metal guitar themes (X-Men, Batman Beyond, Mighty Max) . The 80s was earmarked by it's love of orchestrated vocal recordings (G.I. Joe, He-Man, ThunderCats, SilverHawks, etc.) I just think you have your decades mixed up. Nothing to get excited about.
Oh so the Spiral zone, Mask, Dinosaucers, defenders of the universe and Jem arent 80's metal enough?
they were all 80's, this is just in your opinion really
I think you're a little narrow minded to say that without looking back again, i may have been wrong by a few years on wildcats, and no i wasn't referring to 90's like x men
As for getting excited you sent two paragraphs in two different replies to a few sentences, you seem to take it a lot more seriously than i do
@Taud Er, no, I don't see how any of those are metal. Maybe you just have a different definition for it, but I'm referring to extended guitar solos and general loudness. Very little harmonized singing in metal. More like the ones I referred to.
And I had to split my reply up so it would fit. Hey, you're the one who started cussing for no apparent reason. You were off by about half a decade. It sorta counts.
@kingofimpossible well not to argue but they werent the first group of heroes to be written about, thats like saying everything stan lee ever wrote was a ripp off of another hero he created
@mauricioduhart2 Kind of hard to say that, when it was the guy who made X-Men famous in the 80's who created WildC.A.T.S. Not to mention, they weren't even remotely similar concepts, other than being superheros.
i have used to have the toys of this show and knew the theme song. hell i still know it! lol thumbs up if the 90's was the greatest generation of cartoons EVER!!!!

I don't EVER remember this! What channel? What year? Looks HOT! Better than that shitty "rebirth" Thunder Cats on cartoon network which aired last night. That shit look WEAK!
@rrw1981 This was way better than X men honestly. As a kid, I couldn't help but hate on the soap opera bullshit that used to happen on X men. When things were supposed to get simpler, they got more tangled. When they were supposed to overcome, someone from the future would come and say no don't win, you'll fuck up the continuum of time and space if you win. Then everybody gets antsy about pulling the trigger except for logan.
@Styxorcist that's the x-men comic for you, unlike most of the other shows as kids X-men was the comics almost note for note kinda like a movie adaption of a book where they change some things
Did you know Wildcats got sold to D.C comics..... If you read Flashpoint issue #3 Grifter makes an appearance as part of the Resistance ... Pretty cool stuff
The show sucked. I remember when they used to show some really cool concept art in the end of the wildstorm/Image comics promoting the series, but when it finally debuted on CBS it was lame. The stories were beyond juvenile and I don't think CBS ever gave a rats ass about it. I remember during the second episode CBS cut to breaking news of some dumb dignitary arriving in some foreign country.
I would try to record this and the show where that kid could turn into a Superman'esq hero leaving green goo in wake of the transformation. Totally forgot the name of it, if anyone knows please tell me!
@mirbez Oh that one. I know the Superhero you speak of, his name was "prime". Some kind of Superman clone. The tv show you speak of was called "Ultraforce". It had hardcase and prototype in it (A Wonder-man clone and an iron man clone in it).
The intro is fun in its pure cheese factor, but the cartoon shined. So much better than its grimdark, ultraviolent source material.
Shame they couldn't do split about the names, I once listed off the characters to a friend unfamiliar with the concept and he couldn't tell where I'd stopped listing heroes and started listing villains.
Only on the surface. In all honesty, the plot is largely different from the X-Men comics. Most of the Wild C.A.T.S. belong to an alien race called the Kherubim. They are waging a ware against the Daemonites, a sort of psychic alien parasite. Their style is derivative of the X-Men, but the actual story is drastically different. I used to read both Wild C.A.T.S. and X-Men when I was growing up.

Grifter is officially a member of a DC Comics superhero team.
Which means I cannot freaking wait until Warblade makes his mainstream DC debut. Warblade is one of my favorite comic book superheroes, ever.

This was the best X-Men knockoff ever made!

@rrw1981 knock off? you retard... this has its own comics and franchise for a long time.

Styxorcist 4 months ago
@Styxorcist that's the x-men comic for you, unlike most of the other shows as kids X-men was the comics almost note for note kinda like a movie adaption of a book where they change some things

The show sucked. I remember when they used to show some really cool concept art in the end of the wildstorm/Image comics promoting the series, but when it finally debuted on CBS it was lame. The stories were beyond juvenile and I don't think CBS ever gave a rats ass about it. I remember during the second episode CBS cut to breaking news of some dumb dignitary arriving in some foreign country.

hollywood make it happen, with a live action movie...!!!

I would try to record this and the show where that kid could turn into a Superman'esq hero leaving green goo in wake of the transformation. Totally forgot the name of it, if anyone knows please tell me!
mirbez 7 months ago
@mirbez Oh that one. I know the Superhero you speak of, his name was "prime". Some kind of Superman clone. The tv show you speak of was called "Ultraforce". It had hardcase and prototype in it (A Wonder-man clone and an iron man clone in it).

@th3w01fv2 Heh, yeah that was it! Thanks for the reply

Xmen knock-off anyone?
Poever 8 months ago
@Poever
