Nice vid and music... for a different kind of whale watching experience, try Laguna San Ignacio (Baja Mexico) in the Spring. You can touch, pet, even kiss them! Really! 'Nothing like looking into the dinner-plate-sized eye of a Gray, from 2 feet away.
With the city dumping 100% of all raw human waste directly into the ocean every day, it is amazing that the whales can handle the pollution. I noticed the whales were a little brownish, they must be swimming through the turd cloud in the Juan De Fuca straight?
Hello Minyblue - Did you know that the cruise ships that come into Victoria have their sewage sucked out by the city, who charges them great amounts of money. I guess you know what they do with the sewage they pump out of cruise ships. If cruise ships dump in the ocean there are huge fines.
When the city of Victoria does the same thing, even with cruise ship sewage, they pay no fine. Another Victoria scam.
I went on a watch with this company many years ago. From what I saw that day, they were the most respectful of the companies there. The guide was very knowledgeable.
We were watching three transients that had just made a kill, we kept well away and let them come to us.
I think the beauty of life is that everyone is entitled to their own opinions therefore lets just be grateful for whales in the wild and enjoy the day!
We respect the whales and there are strict guidelines that we follow. We go up to 100 meters and then engines off. Whale watching is a great way to view the whales in a natural enviroment and be educated about our abundance of marine life that we are so fortunate to have here on Vancouver Island. I think like with anything in life you can look at it negatively or with a positve attitude. Your choice.
We have another name for "whale watchers". It's whale harrassers. Don't you think bombing around in a zodiac disrupts local pods? There are plenty of things to do in Victoria while you're here that won't antagonise the wildlife.

100% of all raw sewage is pumped into the ocean near Victoria, poor whales. The cost to see the whales was also too high.
