my first car, in 1974, was a red karmann ghia...i paid 4300.00 for it; i was 23 years old..........and i still regret to this day having to sell it about 10 years later.
Thank you for you reaction. 4300 ? Wow, I am busy with restauration of my carr. Only de bottom and getting of the paint was over 4000 euro's. This is another time, is'n it.
But Karmann Ghia's in the USA are stil for sale for a reasenable price. In Europe they are very expensive
@MadUek1, thank you for the reaction and invatation. At the moment you send me the mail, I was in Germany: In Georgmarienhutte (near Osnabruck) for a meeting. There were 400 Karmann Ghia's. That was nice. After the meeting we went to Autostadt in Wolfsburg. Beautifull. Then after a few days we drove trough Germany over the langstrasse direction France. What a beautiful country is Germany.
@lohmanpark Some friends of mine went to this Type 34 show in a 1964 light green Ghia convertible. Looked like a lot of fun. I had to work that weekend. Maybe we'll see us at another show or rally.
I really like that you kept it stock. So many people go crazy with them and in my opinion ruin the nastalgic value of one of the most beautiful cars out there. Looking to get a 1965. Wish me luck! looking at one on Tuesday...
keep them on the road and original. It is a joy to drive it. tomorrow I have a meeting in near Amsterdam. We are there with 15 Karmann Ghia's. We will drive with disabled children. It is for me the second time. It feels good to see the children happy.
I wish you good luck to find a good Karmann Ghia. Let me know with a good youtube clip.
Greetings,
Hans from Holland
ps where are you from ? Virginislands ? There is no snow there, is there?
@lohmanpark I'm in Idaho, USA. Yes, we have snow but the 4 months of summer are perfect for mountain driving with a Ghia. I am originally from Germany. will be looking at a 1965 that needs some restoration. My first car I ever owned was a 1970, I loved driving it! Ever since I got rid of it I've wanted another one! So, I have my fingers crossed. The seller is asking for $4000 dollars but it does not run and needs paint and interior work. I will offer $1500-$2000. Thanks for the good luck! :)
@lohmanpark Thanks, I'm in ID USA. And yes there is snow here but it will be nice for a summer cruiser. The seller wants $4000, but it needs quite a bit of work so I will offer $1500-$2000 and hope they understand what it will take to get her on the road. Doesn't run but no rust and over time I hope she will look as good as yours!! My first car was a KG and it is my dream car! I currently have a 1968 camper bus. A lot of fun as well. If I can get it I will post the project on here. :-)
Your Ghia is really nice! I love the front turn signals. My KG is a 70 so it has the long, amber lenses that I don't like. I live in Los Angeles. I have had my current KG for 11 years. It has been a very slow restoration. I am replacing the gas tank and I just finished ripping out the interior. I want to paint it black or a metallic charcoal grey. I'll be sure to post some video later. Thank you for the reply and I look forward to seeing more clips!
Hello and thanks voor your reaction. My Karmann is from 1969. It is inported from California in 2004 and since 2005 I am the proud owner. I see you are from the USA. What is your home town aan in what state do you live. I see your reaction. With KG-greatings, Hans
Lohman my Ghia is your twin! It is from 1969 and has the same color. What is that color called anyway? But mine is the coupe. check out my videos! :)

My car has not the original colour. It is blue metallic
Original it was cypress green. In 2011 the car will fixed. I start with a body off restoration.
Afterwards it is a new car again.
I am just back from a trip to Danmark. In 5 days I drove nearly 1900 km (about 1200 miles) without a problem.
It is always a joy to drive the car
Your car was about $ 300? That is for free. Enjoy it. The sound is OK and the looks are nice.
Greatings
