I don't understand why it is referred to as a 'tackle' - a tackle happens in open play,. This was a clear-out at a ruck, or rather, after a ruck. I do not think they intended to smash his shoulder or his neck, but I think they did want to rough him up a bit.

Graham Henry is a disgrace to New Zealand sport and the legacy of the All Black jersey. THIS footage wasnt available, ive seen the proper ones of the match which show the insident quite clearly. maybe the news couldnt show those due to copyright
Well you must have had different cameras to us mate, because at the time the replay was from the far side of the field and was pretty tough to see. The cameras nearer followed the ball and missed it. That's the major reason why the citing commissioner thought they had no case to answer.

BOD actually moved on pretty quick, after Umaga said it wasn't intentional, BOD said there was no more point talking about it. Most of the fuss was made by the british camp as they felt that justice wasn't done, for what looks like a horrific challenge. Then again, when the enquiry is held by the NZ RFU in NZ, justice might be a fairly unrealistic expectation. Tana might be a legend of the game, but that sort of thing shouldn't go unpunished, no matter who does it.

The controversy about this is due to two factors:
1. The Lions management (Woodward & Campbell) trying to distract from how badly the team was prepared and how badly they performed.
2. The IRB not taking any steps to punish the players.
I don't understand why it is referred to as a 'tackle' - a tackle happens in open play,. This was a clear-out at a ruck, or rather, after a ruck. I do not think they intended to smash his shoulder or his neck, but I think they did want to rough him up a bit.

Well you must have had different cameras to us mate, because at the time the replay was from the far side of the field and was pretty tough to see. The cameras nearer followed the ball and missed it. That's the major reason why the citing commissioner thought they had no case to answer.

Okay, i think you are blurring the lines a bit there.
The whole "This is what you can expect you better be on your game" shit happens every game with every team. A big hit at the start of a match, a few words at the bottom of a ruck, thats just rugby. Furthermore, that is in no way cheating. The Irish are great at it.
I dont think thats what happened in this case though, i think that Umaga lifted him to clear him out of the ruck, BOD became top-heavy and fell. An accident.

i'm fed up of people doubting bod, he's a very different player than he was back in 2001 much more rounded, he was absolutely immense in defence the past while something he wasnt in 2001 and he can still rip defences apart.
i do agree that elsom was unreal and leinster needed him but contemponi come on. he wasnt even playin in the final or for most of the semi. injured 15 mins in, johnathon sexton played both matches. much as i respect contempni leinster did it without him, not so much of a star

yes he was a very friendly player but the evidence there realy doesent look good now u can see it form BOD 's side if he wasent injured so bad it wud be let go but his shoulder exploaded out of the socket but the fact is the lions did not deserve to win they poot clive woodward in charge who wanted to mannage soccer and was a mostly english side the welsh & irish finished strong that year why wasent the team mostly them but a few english did preform come scrum time that vid realy dont look good

Brian O'Driscoll Is a Cry Baby its just a game and mistakes happen in Rugby. I will always look up to tana and he was always a friendly player this is only 1 mistake.

BOD actually moved on pretty quick, after Umaga said it wasn't intentional, BOD said there was no more point talking about it. Most of the fuss was made by the british camp as they felt that justice wasn't done, for what looks like a horrific challenge. Then again, when the enquiry is held by the NZ RFU in NZ, justice might be a fairly unrealistic expectation. Tana might be a legend of the game, but that sort of thing shouldn't go unpunished, no matter who does it.
