  • amazing way of thinking

  • Do you need a certain program or can you just make this with wood, string, weights, and a LED projector?

  • @brandonarei Yep, more info can be found at the instructable. Just google search wiremap instructable

  • lol i got a dirty mind

  • but seriously, the more strings.. the more clear the image being projected would be?

  • 256 nuts, just hanging around

  • "Unless its too much information"

    What? What does that mean?

  • Um, I think the issue with the strings being bent is defraction of light.

  • Nope. Go check your physics homework. Not on this scale.

  • It's like a hologram D:

    AWESOME

  • How long it take you to make that Beast?

  • I can't be sure, but I think it was on and off for about a month

  • "256 nuts that are just hanging around" nuff said.

  • WHAT A BURKE

  • I was seriously waiting for him to say "...and boom goes the dynamite"

  • Seriously.. write a script beforehand. I believe you'd have trouble explaining how to boil water.

  • I think he was just explaining it so most people would understand wtf is going on

  • You are amazing!!

Got any updates on exporting it to Java?

Strange, but the first use I thought of it, was for it to be used in Christmas light shows. :)

  • Very impressive! thats a great idea!

  • that is spectacular

  • that is a very injenious idea, very well done to you

  • nice man, good idea. Love to have one in my house. I see what you mean by problems with storage though....that will be a tough one...

  • wow

  • very very cool. i want to steal it...maybe in another life when i'm smarter

  • Haha, like that'll happen.

  • Cool!!

  • I can really see this thing as a feature at modern restaurants, clubs and the sort. Keep up the good work!

  • It's 256 for the regular 256 color spectrum. Though now it's 16 million colors. In the days of EGA/VGA graphics there were only 256 colors.

Very well done for the display, better than what I ended up doing.

  • This could have some nice uses when its completed. All you other negative people out there, serriously unless you have a education, keep the comments to your self.

  • Crappy. It's a shame that bedroom inventors can't make original displays without a fog machine or a chemistry/electronic engineering post-doctorate.

  • Man, a lot of very negative comments. It's not that bad. It's a good start.

  • Big potential... good luck with your pattent.

I wonder if you could get better resoults with the new Laser projector. (a combination of boths whould be perfect).

  • very snazzy!

  • yahlike he haz$10000 to get 1 dumbass

  • Uh? thats not the point jerkoff

  • Two things:

    1. Tripod

    2. Preparation

  • Poorly shot.

  • hehe, yeah... i think this guy is a stoner.

But VERY COOL... I'd smoke with him, :).

  • Hehe... this guy must have been stoned

  • pretty useless

    and why "256"?

  • "why 256?" ... you sir are a moron

  • the situation's pretty ironic.

i'm asking why he chose to install 256 pieces of string and not some other number, since the distribution seems pretty random if you examine the video, sir.

  • my apologies

  • that video was way too long considering what it was showing

  • why not have the projector projecting down on the wiremap?... it'll take a lot of reworking with programming and the model, but it should get rid of your ghosting issue

  • What's the similarity between this videographer and all the stupid bitches who take self-portraits holding their own damn camera in the mirror while trying to look cool?

    THEY ALL NEED A TRIPOD.

  • got halfway into it.

    wasn't impressed by then.

good thing I have no speakers here at work.

  • Very interesting, nice work. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

  • pretty sweet.

  • I love it. You're doing a great job there. Hope to see more from you in the future.

  • how many nuts. oh 256? can you tell me a few more times...

  • Awesome job making this thing! Great hack to get back from a 2d projection to a 3d space. Calibration must be a bitch.

  • "at any rate" is really annoying

  • All of you losers shut the fuck up. If you don't like the way he's doing his shit then don't fucking watch it. Stop bitching you faggots.

Anyway, this is awesome and I hope you keep working more on this stuff. Awesome video too.

  • Damn this guy is really annoying.

  • Great idea. This is putting ideas in my head . . .

  • pretty cool idea. needs more strings, and a better presentation, though. can't wait to see it more fleshed out.

  • I would have used 2 projectors. :)

  • definitely needs to work on his presentation skills... and his tech-talk... distortion because of a human interfering with "digital space". Bullshit. You're either moving the strings (messing up the calibration) or blocking the lightpath to the strings further back (casting a shadow). Lesson: Don't invent an explanation when one exists already.

  • For god's sake just put the goddamn camera on a tripod. Some people have no business operating a camera.

  • Nice in concept, but it really needs some refining!

  • hey dude, sweet stuff!! I got an idea for you: if you replace the black fabric with a mirror tilted like 45 degrees you'll get rid of the projected light!

  • Sit the camera next to the damn projector if you're going to talk about what's on the stringmap. Seriously.

  • "as soon as a human body converges with digital space.. they can't coexist.. Anyway.."

    What? Bwahaha

  • hehe, yeah they cant coexist duh! lol

  • Nice concept, but boring ass video

  • Nais.

  • thats a really good idea!

  • Dude this is looking DOPE! Can I stop by and see it some time?

  • "Dude this is looking DOPE!"

Like, totally! To the maxx! Gag me with a spoon!

  • ayeroxor thinks he's cool cause he visits digg. /. makes you cool! NOT DIGG!!!!

  • What's your slashdot usernumber, knave?
