  • I don't know why people are talking about it being hard to play higher on a marching euph. When I played one, I could play higher on that than my concert horn.

  • Its Sam Palafian, regardless of whether he hit that high not or not, give him credit for being the phenomenal musician that he is.

  • I double on bone and tuba those notes arent high

  • You must be a noob if you cant flutter tongue

  • Love marching the YOOOOOOOOOOOOF.

  • @phanregsop i forgot what its called, but its a motorboat lip effect that is very hard to accomplish but yeah, just an improv embellishment, trick of the embocure trade per se. seriously doubt that is sloppy playing my friend, even though i was dissappointed in his high note, he shldnt have any trouble playing high notes on euph, because i know he can play trombone well and if he can play high on that, he can on euph no doubt...

  • @dylbobtboner Don't forget he is playing on a MARCHING euph. Can't give him too much grief for that high note.

  • @tubamarc8891 your right... but hes still insane enough to hit that high of a note, even on a marching euph... but of course, its just fun...

  • he teaches at ASU and they are making a song for my band a world premiere at the Musi9c For all Festival

  • HOW DID HE DO THAT? 2:00 just sloppy buzzing? Prolly cant do that on trumpet =(

  • flutter tounging it sounds like- and using different valve combos on the same note

  • @PhanRegSop play and pretend you are rolling an "r" with your tongue.

  • But it sounded spitty, flubbery, not like a normal tongue roll. Oh well..

  • @PhanRegSop Flutter-tonguing isn't too fun on marching euph. I had to do it in last year's marching show in my high school band. It's wasn't hard, nor did it sound bad, but it was weird for some reason.

  • @PhanRegSop Valves 1/2 way down with flutter tounging.

  • Lol I met Pat down at the California Allstate Band Convention thing. Most amazing tuba player ever. And I think Sam was also there but Pat blew us all away

  • That's awesome! Holmes is actually my music teacher. I bought a trombone from sawday and holmes.

  • Pretty good acoustics for what appears to be a storage room...cough-cough

  • yep, a jupiter marching euph i think

  • That's really, really cool. I wish I could half as skilled or disciplined as some of them.

  • Great sound! It doesn't get much better than two university faculty jammin'!

    Is that a marching euphonium?

  • University faculty? Patrick has to be one of the best, if not THE best, tuba player in the world...he just came to my highschool last wednesday.

  • must be a bigger shop than it looks; all that reverb!

  • Reverb sounds added to me!

  • I met both of these guys.

I was in the Dobson High Marching Band in Mesa, AZ, and they both came by many times to watch us practice and give up advice and stuff.

  • wow

    this is amazing

  • this is so cool legends playing together like this

  • they both teach at Arizona st. U. Plus they co-authored brass gym and the breathing gym.

  • tuba teachers, women, nature- what's not to like about ASU?
