if i know directx 8.1 have pixel shader 1.4/1.3, yes is logic you are not playing the game with pixel shader 1.1, but you play tf2 with pixel shader 1.3/1.4. if you want to play tf2 without pixel shader use instead -dx level 81use -dx level 70 than you will play without pixel shader

I downloaded the files and pasted extracted them into the correct folder, and I used sweetpuff9's code... It works, I can see the servers, but when I try to join a server, even when it has open spots, it stops and lags. At about, 7/10 bars through on the Medic/Heavy/Spy screen, it stops. It still runs, but it leaves the hourglass and doesn't do anything. I'm in windows mode, so I can get out easily, but I can't get it to work. Help?

I THINK I GOT IT!!! Do what this video says, but when you go to Launch options, enter this instead:

-dxlevel 80 +mat_antialias 0 -novid -windowed r_rootlod 2 mat_picmip 2

I'm not sure which, but one of them made the cursor reappear. Also these settings put the game in windowed mode and they help with the lag (Although the game still runs pretty slow)

Also, go to the options menu, and under video, go to the advanced settings and put everything to low. Hope this helps =)
