Tip for your lock, don't clip your dots....meaning don't recast them until they fall off completely or will fall off while your recasting the dot. Clipping increases the time before the new dot will tick.
@togapolitics By far the greatest increase to your own DPS as well as raid DPS is to have Dark Intent on another DPS class. According to Elitist Jerks simulations these are the Top 5 classes to receive Dark Intent... (1)Shadow Priest, (2)Fire Mage, (3)Feral Druid, (4)Balance Druid, (5)Survival Hunter. In some situations (heroics) you may need to put DI on a healer instead. In which case Resto Druid would be a good choice.
@0penYourEyes yeah and i suppose thats true now...but before the patch the overall help to the raid seemed to be greater when you put that on a healer
What do you use to record? PLEASE thumbs up this so tgn can see, I think your on a mac I can't seem to find any good recording software for mac, besides the crappy in-game wow recording
@chIEIEse and scarwind22 : I will look into both of those. I am looking to reforge so you may have helped me find a boost but i still love the amount of mastery i have......but dropping it 2-3points won't hurt. Thank you.
@AvalianDK Mastery does seem very appealing when you read the tooltip. However the fact of the matter is that stacking mastery results in a DPS loss. Stat priority is without a doubt INT > HIT (17%) > HASTE > CRIT > MASTERY.
when you were going through your talents and your glyphs I noticed you went one talent ahead so when you were talking about one talent your mouse was over another I dont kno if that was intentional or just a little mess up but other then that great video
Also I noticed someone saying bane of havoc is a waste, not true, for one talent point you get an extra 15% dps on a lot of raid bosses (even works on omnitron, exept on the fire dude, don't use it on him.)
@TopcroZ Ya BoH is super useful on almost all the boss fights in the current raid content. Especially with all the Berserk timers on bosses. The added DPS is great.
First off all, I'm really glad we're seeing finally seeing some Warlock action on the TGN WoW channel again.
I would recommend changing your opener a bit: CoE, hardcast SF (instant SF are useful for when you get in trouble keeping the buff on), BoD, immolate, corruption, and then normal rotation.
Second, using shadowflame when in melee rang is a dps increase, I recommend using it after chaosbolt because they have the same CD, making it easy to track.
Also, when in execution rang, you should shadowburn on CD, which gives just a bit more dps.
Another useful trick to increase dps, when casting anything instant, try to let if follow by a casted spell, so if you have to refresh corruption for example cast that right after a casted spell, like you have less GCDs that come into play, which will increase your overal dps.
in a boss fight u might want to start off by popping soul burn b4 the pull and then using
soul harvest while the pull timer is upp so u basicly get a instant soul fire at the start but u also get the keep 3 shards thu the fight. unless tis a boss with early adds where u can basicly just soul burn ur soul shards back :)
Nice guide, have a tip though from my warock, you should try to compare this rotation with yours, curse of elements, bane of doom, corruption, instant soul fire, immolate, conflagrate, chaos bolt, incinerate (2 or 3 depending on haste), and refresh as needed
I would also get a better setup on your dot trackin addon, one that tracks ticks. You want to refresh your dots before the last tick with how the clipping mechanics work
Opening rotation looks good, but I would cast chaos bolt before conflag. With how the spell queuing system and spell travel time works your conflag will hit the target before your chaos bolt does. Incinerate is one of your highest damaging abilities depending on length of the fight so IMO its better to use those backdraft stacks on 3 incinerates instead of 2 and 1 chaos bolt, given how lackluster chaos bolt is right now.
I must say as a Warlock player myself you talents and glyph's are fairly disappointing I'd suggest you get rid on the talent on Bane of Havoc and the Improved corruption those arnt very useful for a Destro warlock you should look into getting Improved life tap it gives you more mana, and for glyphs get rid of the minor glyph of Curse of exhuastion it's very useless for a destro warlock since they cant use that spell
Improved Corruption is a great talent because it's usually a 6-7% increase in damage just for putting an instant cast dot up every little while. As for bane of havoc, it has it's uses on add switching fights where you need to focus adds but want to still gain an extra 15% dps on boss. Improved life tap is just not worth it when corruption is a dps gain and Soul leach and mana feed provide enough mana for you to live on.
@0penYourEyes What I find sad about this comment is that I posted it over 4 weeks ago that means I've lost total interest in it and this subject by now so thank you for taking a useless shot my flame trolling friend. :) Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Look up "Optec" on youtube. He has a really good guide with all the right info on it, (he has one guide for gearing, gemming, and enchanting, then 3 others for each spec.)
@Anuburakable Not really, after about 2300 haste crit is better since that's how much haste you need to add one tick to immolate, corruption, and shadowflame.
@Anuburakable yeah i was gonna say my dps is alot higher when i crit rather than cast because imo backlash is all the haste u need with the conflag glyph
Yup you right i think. But any way to get haste rolling plus the crit increase from conflag can help get proc's rolling. Bad part is some people don't play with the right stats in the right order. as in the following:
Hit, crit, haste, mastery or Hit, crit, mastery, haste, ......destro is big on the mastery due to the amount of increased fire dmg from mastery. I think i am at 17.8% hit, 15% crit, 18.6+% mastery, and 11% haste. i could go higher on haste and crit, but avg 14.5k dps single tar.
Actually as of right now, for destro locks, it is Haste>crit>mastery.
From Elitest jerks: "It is recommended you download the Simulationcraft or Warlock spreadsheet tools and base your decisions around your individual character. However, the below order should be correct in most situations.
Int >> Hit (to cap) > Haste > Crit > Mastery
Since patch 4.0.6, haste is now consistently higher than crit at any gear level and should be prioritized as such."
I do agree with the hard cast of Soul fire to get the D-buff going, but my rotation for my lock throws bane first, immolate, then conflag, for haste buff, hard cast the soul fire to get d-buff on target, 2x incinerate, then get into the normal rotation( the one everyone does) that way you have to possibility of proc'ing empowered imp and getting early proc's of free fire soul fire's. Have gotten to where i pop 2-3 soul fires in a row, so i refresh anything that needs to be refreshed, then go....
