Much respect to Ira Newble for doing his best to bring attention to these atrocities in Darfur. Sadly, Lebron James chose not to sign the petition mentioned in this video..
Guys, it looks like many of you care for the people of Darfur and want Beijing to do something about it.
Have any of you tried pressing Washington to use its influence to end the larger humanitarian catastrophes in Somalia and Iraq, both of which are directly attributable to the actions of your own country, and therefore should be well within the grasp of the US government to end?
@quius For what? Doing exactly what the Western governments are doing? Besides, the olympics is supposed to be a time where politics are put aside. It is selfish to boycott the olympics, dashing the dreams of athletes who looked forward to this event. If we were to boycott the Olympic Games because the host country was "supposedly" supporting a evil regime, we should boycott the 2012 Olympics in Great Britain because they supported Libya, and allowed the release of the Lockerbie bomber.
its a great thing that Ira actually cares about this kind of stuff thats going on. its great that he has started his own charity and is concern with this issue. when he was on the Cavs he always use to do so much charity work.
labors arent being oppressed by the government there, for a country with 1.3 bil people its hard to get jobs cuz the competition is so high, people and willing to take jobs even for shiitest pay. Not one country in the world could provide jobs for that many people all with a reasonable wage. But at least the chinese are hard working people unlike the hordes here that live on food banks and homeless shelters. cant take away the fact they worked hard to make everything we buy in stores.
@Noobssuckass300 and whats wrong with that? every country you look at, there is high, middle, and low class. Take a look at China's economy. They seem to be doing just fine. Much better than any other country.
@Noobssuckass300 my mistake haha..i thought you were saying that its wrong that chinese people were "wearing and buying products" from their own country
@Noobssuckass300 my mistake haha..i thought you were saying that its wrong that chinese people were "wearing and buying products" from their own country
@ingve1974 I suppose you haven't heard of how the United States is supporting Saudi Arabia, the country which has repeatedly violated numerous human rights, especially those of women. Russia has also oppressed the Chechens, and Israel is bombing Palestinian homes. Yet, people seemed to be concerned only about China, who is doing only what the West has been doing. At least China is honest about its policies. They pay only with cash for oil; what the Sudanese do with the money is none of their
@ingve1974 concern. If you look at China's role in Africa, its a better alternative to the Western businesses. China makes an effort to build hospitals, schools, and roads. They do not exploit these Africans, instead making fair deals, with no small print on the contracts. They do not send in soldiers to bring communism to their countries, like NATO did with the pretense of bringing democracy to the Middle East.
LeBron James only didn't sign the petition and get involved with this because it is kind of against China and he has all of those Nike deals with China and different deals like that which would go against Nike, that wouldn't be a good thing for him.
haha guess what also kpanneton1? kobe is a much better person, and this is why he deseves to be mvp instead of lebron. kobe signed with the darfur campaign thing, and he is with nike. kobe is a charismatic guy, lebron is just in it for the fame.
instead of using the platform for showboating and grandstanding..you can use it to influence MILLIONS of people unfortunately too many players get soft with money
Well, if Ira Newble could play the game of basketball a little better, he would get paid more. With more money, Ira will have more resources to use to "influence MILLIONS of people".
thats good of him.. its a shame we can go to another country because WE THINK they have 'weapons of mass destruction.. which didnt exist ::cough:: but we cant barge in another country to stop this horrific thing. ::shakes head ::
nice video your the best elie and you actually care; good For you your friend Whitewadenumber3, by the way can you talk to D-Wade more often heis my favorite player, and as good as he is he barely gets any media coverage! Thank you elie Please say something!
Mr. Newble has my respect. China is the main perpetrator in Darfur. They buy up 2/3 of the Sudanese oil while supplying the govt/Janjaweed with arms for massacring the civilians to secure oilfields.
@404errorfilenotfound China buys the oil, but pays only with money. What the Sudanese do with the money is none of their concern. Besides, Russians, Americans, Britons, French, German, etc... all illegaly buy from the Sudanese as well. The Western governments are just blaming China because they do not want to share the blame.
@404errorfilenotfound And lets not forget that the United States actually supported Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and currently the Saudi Royal Family; the latter has absolutely no regards for human rights. Yet, the United States supports these two regimes with weaponry in exchange for oil.
Ira is a great guy, i know him personally, too!!! My cousin, stacy, is dating him right now!

@r1ch412d These people are the worst kind of hypocrites. Demonizing a country, while at the same time wearing and buying products from the country.
