Some areas have a center lane for turning left from either direction. The road looks like it wide enough for that, and with the snow covering the divider the driver could not see that this area did not have a center left turn lane.

I can't even imagine mistaking a road divider for the center of a lane of traffic... the picture shows plowed lanes to either side... it looks to me like me lost control or was not paying attention and once over the thing, he kept going, trying to get free until he saw it was not succeeding and finally stopped.

@happyquails That's exactly what happened! I wish I had added more pictures to show exactly the situation the guy was in. Once he was stuck it was impossible for him to back up, go forward or turn to either side. Not a good day for the guy!

What was the truck stuck in, that huge snow drift? Why I'd have driven that big rig right out of there and on to the nearest Flying J. I'd of plugged in my laptop at a Truckers VIP table. I was born in Surrey, and there's a LOT of shitty drivers out there. Not as bad as Van or Richmond tho. This poor guy just couldn't see what was under the snow. As a general rule more than three quarters of Lower Mainlanders don't know how to drive in winter conditions.

@aslanmane That's true, but I don't think that Surrey city planners are exactly awake when it comes to road planning. That same set of dividers caused a critical delay for the Surrey F.D. when they responded to a building fire just behind that same intersection (2008, I think...).

I've been in a similar situation.

Pulling a set of joints in Spokane.

Tried to to turn off Broadway by teh Flying J and ended running into a drift. The rear pup blocked both lanes of eastbound Broadway for a good 45 minutes.

I paid a tow driver $60 cash (no receipt) to get me the hell out of there.

It sucks.

Indeed they were owned. His truck was there for hours and caused a huge traffic jam in all directions. Getting him out of there wasn't an easy job. I'm sure he was a bit red-faced!
