  • Would it not be 936? Or is it just 9, 36?

  • Comment removed

  • where did the 36 come from?

  • @insanity745 4x9 is 36 + another 9 = 45

  • He definitely has perfected the art of teaching. These videos helps way more than my current teacher. Plus he's hot! I'd love to earn a little extra credit!

  • he is awesome!! great teacher...plus cute...

  • If youtube ever gets shut down, I think My math grade will drop 40 percent

  • If the first number is four times the second number, shouldn't the first number be 36 and the second number be 9? I know that it doesn't actually matter for this particular problem, but it's still something to consider.

  • ok ok ok well umm how do i put this but do you have some happy in you or are you cold blooded and feel no pain or joy

  • senince by senince

  • If only YouTube was my school.

    lol.

  • This is toooooooo easy!!!

  • where do you get the 5 and the 36 ... you didn't explain it... x is = 1? so 1+4x = 5x ? is that ?

  • @MrBonification he combined like terms with the 1k and 4x and he times 9 with 4

  • where do u get the 5? please eplain where u get the 5

  • @asip21 ......X or whatever is valued at 1 always. This is the "invisible 1" so X=1 P=1 and any unknown letter is valued at 1. But 2X is 2 times X. I suck at math..but I know that X (or whatever stupid letter they use) is 1. so X=1X. I'm flunking math for the sixth time...but that's all I know.

  • where do u get the 5?

  • @asip21 you add x + 4x and thats 5x

  • @deynimz x=1x?

  • @asip21 yes, exactly. they just don't write the 1 b/c its like overstated.

    so 1x+4x=5x

and then the equation would be: 5x=45

    divide both sides by 5

    5x/5=45/5

    x=9

    Hope this helps :)

  • cant hear cause of the gay music

  • ohh ma men.. where di yu get the 5 and 36?

  • WTF!! Where did he get 5??

  • @ShineyGreenGlitter he plused the like terms (x+4x) equals 5 :)

  • @TheJoeHawkinsShow But how does he know what x equals :(

  • @ShineyGreenGlitter ok. since its ( 5 times x) you have to do an inverse operation and switch the 5 * x to 5%x . and do that to both sides. so five divid by 45 is 9 :) hope u understand

  • @TheJoeHawkinsShow Ohhhhhhhh.....................(continues for 40 seconds) Thanks. ;)

  • how do you get 36

  • @betobroxz5123 4(x)=36 and since x = 9. its 4(9)=36

  • Oh yeah I did this in 5th grade.

  • this teacher was amazing!!!!

    He teach us for FREEEEEEE!!

  • How did he get 5x?

  • @htownking85 x + 4x =5x

  • @htownking85 x + 4x= 5x (x's constant is 1, so add 1 and 4 and just copy the x. )

  • ok where did the 5x come from??

  • @luvbeingmama83 x + 4x = 5x

  • thnx to you i almost perfected my exam thnx again :D

  • wow this is better than my college professor xd just this is a smaaller problem but it helped me take what looked like a mile and break it down into a simplified way of solving the problem

  • ok first of alll X is not a number and 2nd WHY THE CRAP DO I NEED TA KNOW THIS ANYWAY?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @54321blastoffkayferg firstly why the heck did you see this video? secondly make the X in the sentence Ok first of all X is not a number = it should be small x thirdly you should not be still in the grade on where you should learn algebra.

  • @27chantal101 ummm how r u gonna tell me what grade im in????

  • @54321blastoffkayferg

Of course x isn't a number, it is an unknown. It stands for an unknown number. A simple example of how a variable works would be:

    4 + x = 8

In this situation you need to know what x is. You would solve this by subtracting the 4 over to the opposite side, or in other words, subtract it from the 8. x = 8 - 4

    x = 4

    Thus, 4 + 4 = 8

It gets much more complex though, and is used to find things such as amounts needed for mixtures, amounts of money, lengths, widths, etc.

  • only if you were my teacher, i would never have dropped out of high school

  • T Y

  • They need to make more word problem videos!

  • word problems are the worst!

  • I dont get how he got 5x?

  • @ForeverSn1per add the x to 4x , hence x + 4x = 5x you can add the variables just like u can multiply and divide them

  • i dun understand the 3rd steps

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I STILL LOATH MATH BUT THIS MIGHT HELP ME LIKE IT A LITTLE MORE. =D

  • Keep Pressing "2". You have to press it REALLY fast.

  • yes it was clear.....but if my math teacher was like this..........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ huh what TEST ........ shit...........

  • if its two different numbers why wouldn't there be two different variables?

  • I learn waaaaay more on youtube than in class

  • @SiobhanMaya yeah, youtube should be our school ya kno

  • this guys literally better than anyone else on youtube...good shit sir!

  • i got the answer in 4 seconds lol

  • Well done.

  • why?

  • i dont get it

  • 1 problem how to get the Y?

  • One number is 800 less than three times the other, and their sum is 1200. find the numbers. help?? answer pls. :(

  • @louisep613 That's a simple question turned seemingly complicated because of the way its phrased. first number > x second number > y x + 800 = 3y x + y = 1200 3x + 3y = 3600 3x + x + 800 = 3600 4x = 2800 x = 700 (first number) 700 + y = 1200 y = 500 (second number) Any questions?
  • @damncritics uhhhhhhhh...............

  • I just realized that the math teachers are not doing their jobs AT ALL, this is sad that I can learn, more on youtube than in actual class.

  • This made so much sense! These problems always intimidated me on tests. Thank you :D

  • x+4x=45...5x=45..x=9..huahahahah

  • Thank you So Much It Help A Lot to me!

  • excellent explanation....this is a big help!

  • this guy is better than my math teacher.

  • dude it's awesome how you seem so calm

  • so, what gets me is how do you simplify the (4x) into (5x)?

  • simply good.. :)

  • im only in 5th grade i need to know how to do my word probs but idk y but i think i got this the x is a symbol of times and the numbers broke apart are the steps that helped me tho the + is a symbol of adding the steps to see what u get when u do the other steps together idk i dont think i am correct im not this advanced tho...

  • @tom9993thejock think of X as any number. we call this a variable. in equations, to show the multiplication of two numbers we put a dot in between those numbers at mid-height. you should watch equation solving videos or you should wait 1 or 2 yrs.

  • thnx dude

  • thank uu master!!

  • its summer in our place so i watch these videos so i wont forget my math =)

  • he multiplied 9 to 4 to get the value of 4x :o

  • i don get how you got 36.. is it because you multiplied 9x4

or did you bring it out of nowhere?

  • I started out with 4x/x=4. And 4x-1/2x=4/5 but it did not work out. Someone plz help a brotha out. Thanx

  • @herbaljunky i got it thanx!

  • No lie. I fell asleep thinking about this problem and woke up still confused. " The diff in the numerator and the denominator of an improper fraction is 4. If the num is decreases by 1 and the denom doubled, what is the original fraction.

  • thnks!!

  • arent you supposed to do a let statement first?

  • i use some of these examples on the asvab

  • Easy, 9 and 36

  • senence.. its sentence!, different accent lol.

  • senence by senence. LOL great explanation by the way.

  • i always though there was only one answer like x=9 but theres more?

  • Thanks

  • im suck in word problem n im going for the act this year

  • I'm having the same prob...

  • I've always hate word problems they always leave me stumped!

  • if thats so, then why are you looking at this video now? .... ://

  • this guy is so good at explaining! so clear and precise!

  • @JasonJRY unlike my teacher

  • that was so easy....how could I not do that? Thank you very much
