Playing devils advocate here, but why were you travelling at such a speed through a blind country corner, that you could not stop in time for something unexpected around the bend without it becoming an "emergency"? :-)
I was doing less than 30mph (the camera uses a wide angle lens which makes the speed seem faster). The main thing is that I was able to stop. "Always expect the unexpected" is what my instructor used to pound into my head. I always make sure that I can stop if there's something in the road around a bend.
Yeah, using country lanes when your vehicle is that large is a bad idea... especially when these types of roads are NSL roads so people will be oncoming at speed. Really shouldn't be allowed down there at all, really. Although they wouldn't put something like a width restriction at the entrance to the road unless it was a regular lorry short cut. We unfortunately have to rely on people using their common sense. HA!
Yeah I suppose he was just using that road to spoil your fun.If it had been a tractor would that have been alright with you or are they not allowed on your road either?
I'm not quite sure what your problem is but I'm guessing you're a disgruntled HGV driver. I completely understand that large vehicles sometimes have to use roads like this and I have no problem with that. I was just saying that the road is unsuitable for HGV's. There is an even a sign at the top of the road saying this, maybe you would like to attack my local council for putting the sign there? I actually think the HGV driver did everything he could and was a good driver.
