  • Can someone translate the Spanish that the one lady spoke? I used to speak Spanish but I haven't practiced in years and I've lost most of it.

  • Laudate Dominum omnes gentes, aleluia! I just got back from a Celtic contemplative service at All Saints Episcopal and it was so very beautiful. I grew up Methodist but I am considering being received into the Episcopal church. :)

  • Episcopalians do hospitality like no one else. No one. You ARE welcome there.

  • When the Episcopal Church began ordaining homosexuals and marrying homosexuals, they gave themselves over to Satan without pretense. If you are a christian, flee from this evil organization. You are disgracing Jesus Christ by sanctioning this abomination with your presence.

  • @MaryWaterton The Lord Jesus said in John 15:17, "This is my COMMAND, that you love one another"

You are disgracing the Lord by hating.

  • I want to stop this vicious cycle and conflict within me in regards to the situation with Anglicanism in this country. I basically want to know why people keep talking crap about the Episcopal Church. I want to know if the homosexual issues, the women's ordination issue, etc. are really legitimate issues, or if they are petty things in the broader scheme of things in regards to Christianity. Also, is the Episcopal Church more orthodox than critics give it credit for?

  • I am still a confirmed member of the Episcopal/Anglican Church, confirmed in early May 2010 (though they interchangeably called it "reception" since I was confirmed in the Roman church, but I felt I shouldn't have joined that one). I have been in and out of it for several months now, however, probably because I have let myself be too concerned about both the smaller numbers nationally and regionally (I live in the southern Midwest) and also the controversies.

  • Great video... one suggestion: zoom out. Thanx! :D

  • just be straigh say we accepted homosexuality come and who cares what you thing about Godneigheter we care,we offer you pleasure and fun..

  • So, where can I get a CD with that particular arrangement of Laudate Dominum? It's awesome!

  • @mysteriousdeath14400 Yeah seriously I want it as my ringtone

  • I, for one, look forward to the Episcopal Church to get back to its Anglican roots. By this i mean, let the bible guide us not some nutcase in NY.

For a church to support abortion financially is awful. For a church to support the homosexual lifestyle, when the bible is clearly against it, is terrible.

    Time for some changes.

  • There are plenty of conservative evangelical churches for you to join!

  • I am an Anglican.

  • The Bible is infallible, but our human interpretations are full of error. Whose to say whether one persons interpretation is better than another. The Presiding Bishop is well aware that she is not perfect in her interpretation of scripture. Neither is mine, neither is yours. I think God place contradictions in the Bible so that humanity could have a conversation. Have you stopped conversing?

  • The things the Presiding bishop is supportive of are down-right evil. That is not a matter of interpretation. There are issues that have a degree of debatability, those are not.

That said, when the individual dioceses start voting to support the Anglican Communion, you will see a move towards Christ and away from the radicals that have attempted to hijack the Church.

  • Each group can find scripture to back up their arguments. So, I disagree with you, it is a matter of interpretation. There will be somethings that we all agree are down-right evil, and other interpretations of what is evil is debatable even within one small congregation. No two of us can agree on everything. Perhaps the challange is to work within the premise of what we agree on: Love God and Love Neighbor even when they are your enemy.

  • How are we supporting abortion financially?. The bible tells me I am not to plait (braid) my hair (Timothy2:8). Granted it is extreme literalism to obey such a command, but who decides what and when certain church doctrine still fits with the new reality or different culture?

  • .

Remember Christians, the will of God is no Catholic, Protestant,Orthodox, Penticostal, Adventist, JW, Etc. NO DIVISION, Only Christians, holy, helping and sharing instead of buying and selling.

"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:9-21)

    .

  • I love the mans response at 3:10. He's spot on

  • This video basically sums up everything about why I love and enjoy being a part of the Episcopal Church. We're welcoming, encouraging, open people, which is an imitation of the way Christ treated people.

  • Christ told people the truth. Read John 4 He shed light to the womans sin, she had been married five times and lived with a man. I wonder if this Church would throw Jesus out of their chURch.

"I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me" Jesus

  • I don't see what's wrong with not having all the answers. If you think you have all the answers that means you think an awful lot of yourself. I try to accept that I don't know the answers to everything, but God does.

  • Much in agreement aushorecm. But we shouldn't deny things like the resurrection and other things Christ taught us about Himself, which is what the Presiding Bishop is doing. We can have doubts, but our church leaders shouldn't teach us things contrary to what Christ taught.

  • RE: "I don't see what's wrong with not having all the answers."

Yes, and I'd go so far as to say that absolute certainty leads to dangerous fanaticism and events like the shooting up at the holocaust museum last week.

  • 2Ti 4:3 !!!

  • I'm kinda strapped for money right now too, as are a LOT of people.

Can someone still be part of the Church anyway, even if they are unable to tithe?

We lost one income in our home when my hubby was laid off in November. He's getting SOME work now, but things are still tight, and I want to be able to support a church if I join it.

  • money yes supports the church in means of paying bills etc BUT stewardship is giving in other ways that JUST money !!!! giving time, being a Eucharistic minister, volunterring at events etc is all part of GIVING it isnt all about "cash" THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH WELCOMES YOU !!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, I like the fact that the Episcopal Church does BOTH mystery AND reason. It's a BOTH/AND place!

Can someone tell me if the song played here is available on CD? Or downloadable somewhere? It's so beautiful!

  • This is "Laudate Domino" sung to an old baroque tune "Les Follies d'Espagne." It's beautiful indeed. In some Episcopal Churches the scripture / reason / mystery thing is done well, but in others both "reason" and "scripture" are being substituted with the authority of the top church leaders, and it's contrary to what Christ taught us.

  • Loving people, Helping people is at the heart of the Church. The sharing, the Good News of Jesus dieing for our sin so that we may be born again is the mission of the ChURch. Saying that Sin is right and is something to be welcomed is wrong. God keep the faithful strong in hard days ahead.

  • One of the best pieces of news for our Church is that, though we would welcome them, we DO NOT have people like- Hinn,Copeland,Osteen,Meyer,Dollar,White et al. preaching a false gospel of Self. There is Mystery and tradition, but not the polytheism/dogma/idol worship that Catholicism seems to ventures towards... And there is intelligence and discussion.

    Hello to Anglican's worldwide !

  • I am a secularist. I think groups like the episcopal and other social action gospels are a stepping stone to secular humanism. I was not raised christian so I dont feel the need to reconcile the bible with contemporary culture. I have known many progressive and a few born again fundamentalists who have left christianity and come to embrace intellectual integrity.

  • I understand secular humanism...I'm a human too ! I was not raised a Christian either. But, you know, humanism cannot provide, ultimately, the answers Humans seek, since Humankind, being finite-cannot provide the moral certainties that are sought by us Humanists, only an Omnipotent God can do that.

Can I ask you, humbly, to have a look at the series (available on YouTube) "How then should we live?" By Francis Schaeffer-watch it as an intellectual exercise,it may provide a different perspective.

  • welcome, compassion, everyone is welcome here, all of his children, welcoming communion, diverse, open minded, all walks of life, open hearts, arms that open wide,we are open to everyone, hard issues being hit face head on, come as you are- all code phrases for GLBTQ affirming. People can choose alternative lifestyles that lead to disease destruction and eventual death. People can also choose to leave false religion like christianity and embrace intellectual integrity through secularism.

  • I don't have a "religion". I have a "relationship" with Christ and I know it's real.

  • ireadtheendofthebook. My Hindu friend also states that he has a personal relationship with krishna. Any sociologist will tell you that you have a religion if not a cult. The new agers will say I am not religious but spiritual and born again christians say "I have a personal relationship with jesus". One word-"RELIGION". Religion is seen in today's culture as dogmatic and caught up in tradition whereas being spiritual or having a personal relationship is cool and hip.

  • I've never considered myself to me "cool and hip", because of my relationship with Christ.

everyone must make a choice. At the end of the line, you have either accepted Jesus or you have rejected Him.

BTW I'm not Episcopalian or however you'd say it. I was doing a little research on that demonination.

    God Bless

    jesusisnotascam

  • The Episcopal Church is a theological laboratory. My research facility for the application of the teachings of Jesus Christ to our own daily existence. And more than that

  • As someone of majority English heritage, as someone who thinks, and as someone who wants to be welcomed and accepted in his place of worship, I am glad that I have found the Episcopal (or Anglican) Church. It has been roughly 6 months today since I had my conversion to Anglicanism on Maundy Thursday. I love this Church.

  • i would like to know what good news as the verse says 1 Corinthians 5:11 (New International Version)

    New International Version (NIV)

    Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

  • The Good news is that Paul was very religious and always wanted rules, being that he was a former Jew.And also we dont like hanging around these people by nature, because we can see whether they have love for God or not and if they dont most likely we wont none of what they got.So the good news is the spirit will lead you to not associate with them in which you can partake of his sins, which still wont be counted for against us but for the sake of sanctification.

  • Love the song at the beginning. Unfortunately I don't know how to spell it

  • Don't believe in any of that crap? Neither do we. The Episcopal Church welcomes you!

  • I love the Episcopal Church, and other Liberal churches. They teach love and tolerance. They improve the world through there social work.

  • Great video ! Unfortunately at this time in my life , due to health problems, I do not have the financial resources to enjoy the full benefit of the Episcopal Church.

I love the beauty and dignity of the Episcopal Church. It resonates with my English soul. I accept the fact of class consciousnes that goes with our heritage.

  • actually, the dude @ 2:27 does look like saddam hussein.

  • Um... yes. Not many people know that Saddam Hussein was actually an Episcopalian. Its true.

  • I can believe it ;)

  • Do u really believe that????

  • Um...no.

  • I lik the music...it's Taizé chant. Also, Saddam Hussein has some good points at 2:27. Lol.

  • Ugghh! Only one guy came even close to answering the question correctly. The rest like hearing that the church is doing great things, instead of proclaiming that Jesus is Lord, gave his life for us on the cross and came back from the dead and calls us to live holy lives in the world.

  • In principle, I agree with you... however in their defense, people tend to not mention the core things in response to a question like this because that is something that all churches (should) share in common, and the question is asking for what makes us different.

  • As a conservative Baptist, I don't agree entirely with the doctrine of the Episcopal Church, but I strongly believe that every denomination should be united in some way. Also, we should be sure to not eclipse the fact the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the reason for the Christian Church.

  • now that so many strange groups are free to call themselves "christian churches," it's no wonder that a real church would be losing members to weird media cults

  • I love our church but the reality is that, in the United States, we lose 10-15% of our membership every year. And, more Episcopal parishes close than open by a ratio of 5:1. Either our "good news" is not relevant to people outside the church or perhaps "openness" and "inclusivity" is not good news. Let's get our heads of the sand and stop all this self-congratulatory piety.

  • The problem with us is that we firstly focus to muc outside of the US and secondly the main chritian recruit is well....usually uneducated and want to hear all about fire and brimstone thats why conservative churches grow so quick they TELL PEOPLE HOW TO THINK. Episcopalians let our parishoners think, my church in PA is growing quickly mostly from Catholics tired of there churches hierarchy.

  • Wow - they got ++Griswold and Roskam+ (the rappin' priestess). Why didn't they get Spong on, to try and convince atheists to join as well?

  • In the words of Robin Williams...10. No snake handling. 9.You can believe in dinosaurs. 8.Male and female God created them; male and female we ordain them. 7.You don't have to check your brains at the door. 6.Pew aerobics. 5.Church year is color-coded. 4.Free wine on Sunday. 3.All of the pageantry--none of the guilt. 2.You don't have to know how to swim to get baptized. 1. No matter what you believe, there's bound to be at least one other Episcopalian who agrees with you.

  • These people sue like no one I have EVER seen! The holy Apostles taught that it is WRONG to take one another to court. There is no middle ground on this command. This is LOVE?

it doesn't matter, though. Most of us don't know an Episcopalian. You can live any kind of lifestyle, sleep with anyone, believe anything or nothing, and be a member! Just don't take the bible as the true Word of GOD, otherwise you are most likely not going to be welcome!

  • True. It's fascinating watching this disaster spiral out of control and see parishes flee to CANA. I think the rot started with John Shelby Spong.

  • The Episcopal Church is devoted to the word of Jesus. As some one who is obviously devoted to the word of Ann Coulter, you wouldn't understand that.

  • YAY GO US!!! :D GO EPISCOPALS!!!

  • Siunds like a bunch of Unitarians that wear fancy vestments. this video looks like it was made at a convention. Turmoil, heresy, and lawsuits are what i think of about the Episcopal "church". Share the Godd News about JESUS!!

  • Here's my thought to you....

I am Episcopal, and God Bless You. :)

  • Unitarians in vestments - what, like that's a bad thing?

I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

Only in a UU church, the only time you hear the words "Jesus Christ" is when someone trips on the steps. It's not quite like that in an Episcopal church. Not at all, really.

So if ECUSA are Unitarians in vestments that talk about Jesus, seems ok to me.

  • It is true that the principle message is about inclusiveness, openness and doing good in the world but little about sin and redemption.

Should these theological concepts really be presented with the expectation that people with no connection to the church understand and respond to them or, should the Church invite people in and THEN present these concepts?

If this is meant for the unchurched it does a great job.

  • If directly challenging people with their sinfulness in love was good enought for Jesus, it should be good enough for Episopalians. And, Jesus was the most "ex"clusive theologian I know - "I AM the way, the truth, and the life; NO ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT through ME."

  • Of course it is a video about being open, inclusive and accepting. In a post Christian society, the idea of Christ dying for your sins is going to be pretty meaningless. How would they know what sin is, or why Christ dying for them means anything? Get them in and then work on theology. Great video.

  • Beautiful video!

The Episcopal Church is lving the GOSPEL.

  • Hmmm. Didn't St. Paul write: "I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some." (1 Cor. 9.22) So a church that does this must be pretty good!

  • This isn't a church that's "everything to everyone." It's a church that respects all of God's children as what they are, God's children, and they share the Gospel of Jesus with all who wish to listen.

  • Silly. A church that is everything to everyone is really nothing.

  • No, it distinguishes that one guy. For the rest, it's all good works and "inclusiveness." Except for people who disagree with them.

  • Titus' quote of the reaffirmation of faith from the holy eucharist "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again" pretty soundly distinguishes this group from Rotarians.

  • Hmm. Lots and lots of talk about inclusiveness and good works, but only one guy even hints that Christ died for your sins so you could have everlasting life. Sounds less like Christians, and more like Rotarians in vestments? Jan, did y'all really edit a 5:00+ minute video on the question of "good news," and miss this rather obvious point?
