Vinyljunkie I'm trying to find out a particular style of house and your taste is similar maybe u can help? Its got a slight swing like this but a real deep kick drum and low mixed bassline. The style is very minimal with little percussive elements or minor vocals with occasional echoes or effects but not glitch or minimal. I guess its a UK style maybe late 90s to current, the deep kick drum gives it the flavour. Do you know what style it might be? Cheers
Great work mate..I appreciate it,tahts talent more than enough, and that a typical good deep house tune.do those samples on the akai midi do you prepare in advanvce and load them using your laptop or usb.update me.
So excellent...In a sea of never ending new equipment (especially software), you constantly show how great music can be made on older equipment when you strive to master it. Another reason why I am keeping my hardware rack in studio. Cheers.
@theoneandonlyhut Of course! And more complex things, too. It's up to you. Your way of sampling and creating good Sounds, arranging them....Technically all this can be also done with a little Maschine like the MPC500. But you have to learn. It's years of work and never ends :)
hi mate im thinking of getting a 2000xl but im new to this are they easy to load sample etc and to make up patterns cheers ross my other option is 606 or 707 cause they look easier to control plase give advice as you certainly know what your doin bro love your tunes all of them
We've got some haters here.. The beat is nice; do music the way you want to.. The mpc was a revolutionary product when it came out, now that it's well known, you have all these *experts* trying to standardize mpc technique.. Mpc's supposed to be a flexible product, and there's never been a "right" way to make music
Man...you made this fuckin beat on a MPC bro...dont listen to what these so called beat experts are saying about your beat...thats your creation and I doubt all these people who know so much about mixers and where your faders are at could make a beat half as tight as this...I have a MPC3000 and I never thought to make anything close to this...
@PuCCiPuCCe LOL anything CLOSE TO THIS? not a diss on the video dude, but come on.. this isnt that far out of the box for something someone would make
r into like bent royksopp caia weekend players groove armada andy cato stuff? bent is awesoem check that out im just really into the whol EURO UK thing im from us totally bored with hip hop but love sampling and electronic music like daft punk but i like cassisus way more than daft have u heard breakbot? let me know im just curious cause im pretty sure u live in the UK n im really bored with my us culture and electronic music here/rap music is boring i like old school/90's hip hop after 98 sux
LOL @Vinyljunkie07.... Brilliant tune! The guy knows what he`s doing with this xl.I have the fully expanded 2000 classic, i`d recommend the EB16 fx chip, bought mine 10 years ago now,and it`s still good for any genre. House , D and B, techno, etc.Tough as old boots these are.Got a triton extreme and a few other synths, but you cant beat the mpc`s for editing, you just know where everything is.Some of the biggest ever dance tracks were made on the it. Underworld still use it now .Good work M8 :o)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The perc's are not sitting right within the mix, there is way to much body on them. There is no b-line ?! house is not house without a bass, the interaction between kick and bass, weather its sycopation, the funk of ive fingered bass guitar, or e bass, a tune is just empty without it.
Inject some contrast, interest and avoid insipid sounds...... if lounge is what you are going for, study the genre much more closely..

the faders on your mixer are all over the place they should be set to unity or 0 db your trim or gain should be the ones that are set to the volume you want on each channel
Only kind of right mate, the gain is setup using the PFL and VU meeter so the sound is averaging around 0db then you use the mix slider where ever you want it...after all you are not going to have every synth and drum machine playing at what is basically max, it will sound a mess..I don't want the strings as loud as the kick and so on...and of course the top of the fader over 0db gives some nice gain for those quiet patches. Also over driving the gain for certain channels sounds good
@vinyljunkie07 I agree the whole point of sliders is that they are easy to slide about hence they would be all over the place. Love the track, I'm a big house fan and it's taken me years to realise that the tracks I like the most are MPC produced, most people seem to use them for Hip hop, probably because of DJ Shadow etc.
@a2dds Do you not understand the concept of mixing lol?! Of course you use the gain pots to get a good signal, but you're not going to change that level of gain everytime you just want to bring a sound down in the mix!
@a2dds absolutely the biggest pile of shit ive ever heard, your potentiometers should be used to gain stage so you get a healthy signal then set the levels through the faders. otherwise you mess with the signal to noise ratio, ipso factso. you wouldnt use an auxillary send and put the signal at 50% wet 50% dry would you? you send it 100% wet and then dictate the level in the mix through the faders. pfft.
The idea is that you avoid *boosting* the faders (dont push them past the 0 point) .. but below 0 you can put them wherever you like, it doesnt matter. (unless you purposely want to make it noisey.)
the track sounds sweet however i would like to point out that your bars are a little off... he he he, NOT IN ANYWAYS HATING just pointing out some points to work on. =)
So this is how they do it Daaaaaaaamn!!!!!!!!!!! If only I had know been waisting my time trying to learn complex production techniques. I really really like this. Tx 4 inspiration
go listen to some 808 electro beats if you want deep neverending bass kicks. seriously dont you think that the word "deep" in deep house is might be more about the emotional feeling you from the entire track than just the sonic characther of one single sound? ;)
the 60 ist a fantastic machine. everything you put in it sounds fat and oldschool. i love jamming with it, sometimes its good to work with the limitations the 60 gives you (1,5 megs of ram) instead of 50 gigs worth of samples in logic :)
lounge lizard is awesome. I only checked it out a week ago and i'm in love with it lol! much better than emagic's evp73. great physical modelling stuff.
Yeah the lounge lizzard is great, has a bigger fuller sound than the EVP-88 from logic I totaly agree although the logic rhodes is still nice if you after that thiner tone but as a rhodes emulation you cant beat the Lizzard imo
lol thanks, yeah when I was younger I was into techno and all that, although I still like it and play it the tempo has dropped lol. I have to say this tune is a bit faster than my usual stuff, this sits at 128
damn...

buuut could i loop my korg synth in the mpc?! like a live looper as boss loopstations or kp3
hanfbrot 2 months ago
Did you make that synth that comes in on 1:47 or was it in the mpc?
DubSantaSoundSUB 2 months ago
@DubSantaSoundSUB I may be wrong but the mpc 2000xl probably doesn't have a built in synth. It is probably sampled.
