  • are cars allowed on the street at the start?youd have to be such a dick to take your car on there

  • I have to admit that I would flip out to be walking down the street and seeing Andrew Bird playing... Especially if it is on my top tracks list for him :)

  • i have this fantasy of just casually walking around paris somewhere and all of the sudden hearing some sweet sounds, and walking over and wittnessing a group of lesbians performing a train of cunnilingus. it would make my life.

  • Whistling is one way to work out your mouth muscles.

With that fact, Andrew Bird's must be freaking RIPPED.

  • When I hear him I wish that you would have been around when Jeff Buckley was still alive. That would be so amazing to see.

  • This guy is down right my favorite musical artist. LOVE. HIM.

  • @FinleyO i noticed that--particularly beautiful indeed.

  • you have got a nice dream may you get it

  • Andrew Bird is seriously a musical genius.

  • FUCK YOU car horn!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This, my friends, is true music and the way such truth is meant to be shared.

  • Pretty.

  • 1:36 - the old man who joins in :)

  • :) :D :D <3

  • can I assume that the song at the end is called 'going home'?

  • How the hell do you let Andrew Bird pass by in the street without crying, nevermind even looking at him?! Wtf...

  • gosh double darn

  • gosh darn

  • xoxoxo what a gem!

  • Amazing.

  • he amazes me. I could watch him all day.

  • One of the best videos on YouTube. Thank you Ryne J. from AZ for showing me this back in the day!

  • Did he do a third takeaway show? I've only seen this one and weather systems.

  • What is the song he plays during the credits? I have been trying to figure that out for a while now?

  • @greenmarcosu the song is called souverian

  • @ZR1599M3DBRGT4s Ok, I see some of the same lyrics, but the way the song goes is way different, are there any full versions of the way he sings it at the end of this video?

  • oh, I get it! Spare-Ohs is sparrows. and he's whistling like the bird too :)

  • I believe Mr. Bird's whistle shattered glass at 5:15

  • i have this fantasy of just casually walking around paris somewhere and all of the sudden hearing some sweet sounds, and walking over and wittnessing a take away show. it would make my life.

  • @yellowpowerranger94 I have same fantasy except I want to be one the people you hear playing those sweet sounds

  • his talents are just phenomenal, they even learn how to tingle down my spine!

  • This song just makes me feel so many emotions. My chest gets tight just listening to it. I just feel... better.

  • I'm flying to Paris today and I can't wait to record myself walking this route.

  • damn with his amazing whistling, he sure lives up to his name

  • my life goal is to learn to whistle like this man

  • @21piecesofBlue seconded

  • I would kiss his feet

  • the looks on the guys faces at 4:10 make me laugh.

  • Fucking asshole had to honk.

  • 4:20!! THEY JUST WALK AWAY LIKE THAT?!!

  • What I love about this video is the fact that Andrew Bird just walks through Montmartre with a natural ease, as if he is part of the 18th Arrondissement.

People don't see to notice him, and those who do, look at him like there are seeing a ghost. Yes, in my opinion that is the beauty of this video.

  • I like his whistling better than the singing

  • that guy that took a picture of him, has no idea that he took a picture of andrew bird. I WOULD FUCKING FRAME THAT SHIT. and i would follow him till his song ended, then have a conversation with him. he looks like a man who likes conversation.

  • At the end. If you listen to the end of his whistling, you can hear the birds respond XD

  • that was amazing.

  • wow. i just fell in love with this guy's music all over again.

  • So beautiful, and a great whistler as well. That he makes the birds whistle as well in the end.

  • I think we need a team up with Andrew Bird, Zach Condon, Laura marling, and the fleet foxes. How awesome would that be to have them all harmonizing together?

  • Comment removed

  • @Lafayettebluesman I would have a musical orgasm

  • @soueubanano And of course Andrew Bird playing Violin and Zach playing horn when not singing...

  • @Lafayettebluesman of course ehehe :D It would be something sublime.

  • @soueubanano omgoodness.... even just thinking about it. :) It would be... breathtaking. Like. Ultimate paradise.

  • @ArtichokesHvH3art ultimate paradise! yes :)

  • dude, i need to know what he's playing during the end credits (the "i'm goin home, goin home" thing)..anybody?

  • @superfly1191 i wanted to know the same thing and after an exhausting amount of reasearch (not really ;)) i found out its a song by Charlie Patton and it's called I'm goin' home. unfortunatly it doesnt exsist in a studio version by bird. and the original is very grainy considering its from the early 1900's

  • @MrDiggger Greatly appreciated man. I actually found that out for myself not too long ago. I was considering posting it here, but I figured no one else really cared to know. Glad to see someone else thought that little excerpt was so awesome

  • Certainly the best whistler I've ever heard. Hard to find artists that have such unique talents

  • i think i just fell in love with a man based solely on his whistling

  • Oh, how I wish to be an observer on that glorious day in March.

  • 1:37 I wonder is that old guy was whistling too..

  • @pluviosity he was TOTALLY whistling!!

  • I FUCKING LOVE MUSIC

  • iPod status.

  • 2:49 : stunning

  • this seriously brought tears to my eyes.

  • haha I love how the actual birds almost come in on cue at the end of the song

  • I love the simplicity of the video, and how it allows you to focus on the emotion of the music

  • This just makes me cry. He calls the beauty in the world.

  • I know this dude can play like several different instruments which is amazing in its own right but his whistiling, is beyond belief

  • I wish I could whistle that loudly!

  • If whistling in the streets ever becomes a norm in my country then Barack Obama won!

  • @Amakisongs that makes absolutely no sense

  • @Hambone75891 doesn't it though..

  • @Amakisongs no it doesn't

  • @Amakisongs You're a turd... hope it feels good to be such a piece of crap.

  • @shadrussell What did I say that was so bad? We cant express our opinions anymore

  • How could I have not known that he was in Paris? If I had, I would have dropped everything and ran to montmartre as fasr as my legs could take me! He is such an amazing artist!

  • He has the ability to pass through everything with a slice of his talent. I envy the expression.

  • at 5:16 is that sound someone tossing him change??

  • 1:35

The old guy on the left began to whistle. I guess it's contagious.

  • the horn scared the shit out of me

  • 4:17

    So brilliant

  • if someone serenaded me with a whistle like that...oh man.......

  • He actually has the title of Professional whistler.

  • i like how there is a girl just trying to be normal and shes following him

  • Holy Bob Dylan ! (...without harmonica and with a fine voice) Early 60s Minstrel.

  • Holy Bob Dylan ! (...without harmonica and with a fine voice) Early 60s Minstrel.

  • new goal in life: be able to whistle like that. Holy jesus that just blew my miiiind.

  • Best dang whistlin' i ever heard

  • oh, his whistling is so beautiful

  • I really suspect the camera guy was holding a sign that said "we're doing a film project, please don't interfere". When I was in Paris people would wave at my camera...

  • Love this video and the whole la blogotheque project. Andrew Bird is great. Yes I would follow him and clap and gawk if I saw him walking around my town but not everybody knows this guy. There are plenty of talented street performers out there who aren't given the time of day and here Andrew Bird is no different. I think that kind of atmosphere, the one with no screaming fans, is what la blogo is going for.

  • If no one clapped in the end I would have been super pissed lol. I could die happy if I make it to one of his shows.

  • I was enjoying it so much, I totally crapped my pants when that car horn honked so loud,

  • they are all like anybody can whistle well he can whistle the best

  • she is just following him

  • lol the people on the street think he's just some random dude. if i saw this walking down the street i think i'd have a stroke

  • sounded like an old folk song or something

    amazing andrew bird

  • What was he singing at the end during the cedits?

  • It was probably an early version of Souverian. There are similar lyrics in it, "You'll never fear anymore/If you join a chorus/We will meet on a fatal shore."

  • this is one of the reasons why I love Andrew Bird.

  • Who's the better whistler? Andrew or the birds in the background?

  • this question has puzzled philosophers since the dawn of time.

  • Andrew.

  • Andrew.

  • @acountsandsuch

Weelllll, Andrew IS a BIRD so they are all Birds in the background

  • @acountsandsuch Andrew. As he is the one that taught the bird's to chirp and sing

  • i love how some random guy just takes a picture of him at 2:40 ! x]

  • Man can whistle.

  • The birds at the end make this video somehow more complete.

  • amazing.

  • Why doesn't anyone know who he is??

That's so frustrating! I love Andrew!

  • that honk ruined it !!!

  • C'mon folks! This wasn't an MTV video recording! Andrew Bird does his art in life, not all cleaned up; refined and integrated. The honk was just life; "who the hell are you in my way?!"

And like the consummate artist that he is, Andrew Bird took it in stride.

Akin to Miles Davis just integrating what is happening now in a jam session_ reality is inspiration!

Take it easy on yourself here.

  • love this song. Man, those people on the streets don't know how lucky they were, ^_^

  • What a beautiful whistle- he truly lives up to his surname ;)

  • very amazing, loved it

  • Ohhh man, if I ever saw him just walking around singing like that, I'd absolutely freak out and go running up to him screaming!

    I LOVE Andrew Bird. <3

  • Then you would have ruined the video.

  • @ep1717 Well, obviously neither happened, now did they? c:

  • Haha that's true. I would have at least followed him the whole time anyways so who am I to talk? haha

  • Sadly I don't remember much of him and Devendra at bumbershoot. I actually feel dirty every time I listen to him now.

    haha

    DRUGSareBADDDDDDD!
