Thanks for posting this video. I would like to point out, to everyone that made comments about this particular volunteer agency, that 71% of all firefighters in the US are volunteer (according to the NFPA statistics from 2009). This means that you have a high likelihood of living in a district where volunteers are used (even if they supplement career personnel).
This area is covered by an all volunteer fire dept. All of the guys that you see had to go from their home to the station and then respond to the scene. We save a lot more then we lose.
lol 3:27 Finley a fire truck .... gezzzz say fire around at most departments they reach a point where there sending units back to the station here your hoping enough show up
wow, as a firefighter i can name so many things wrong with this. Anything from the time it took to dispatch the call to layin in a supply line and still only useing a 1" 3/4 attack line instead of a 2" 1/2 common sence more fire more water
@fireford13 It's obviously in a rural area so useing a 2.5 would run through all there water and it was already gone so why work harder than you have to and common sence comes with age.
@fireford13 exactly tell that to the guys around my FD they dont get it. we had a fully envolved garage fire with flames shooting out of the roof and they attacked it with 2 1" 3/4 lines from 2 different sides idk how we saved the structure from colapsing.
Honestly, it took WAY TOO long for the response !! Not sure if this is an all volunteer area or not, but heard the "volunteer" fire siren wailing quite a while after the kid made the call. And the goal of any fire department is to save property..... Not in this case, the garage burned to the ground !!!!
I've called 911 for a fire before, i had my scanner on in the car, and as i was still talking to the dispatcher it was already dispatched within 30 seconds or so. took 2 minutes for the engine to go 10-97. So we were looking at only 3 minutes from call to when water went on it
@Stealthguy06 Actually you can tell that they cut several minutes out cuz at one point they are in the yard another across the street in that red truck, then the truck parked in a drive way so id say at least 10 min. was cut out of this vid cuz that is also on the ground when they get there and things dont burn that fast
Seriously...the kid is on the phone with 911 at the begining of the video...1:55 and fire whistle is blowing. 2 minutes to dispatch a working fire is WAY TOO LONG
kudos to the kids staying calm on the phone with the dispatcher... im a good ol jolly volly back home and ive called in a few wrecks and a structure fire maybe its just bc im a firefighter but i know i get a little worked up when im on the phone with them
lol the 911 dispatch is telling her to spell her name out? shouldn't they be dispatching the fire department?

@upstatefire Volunteers like to point this fact out, but I would like to point out the fact that 80% of the runs made are by career departments.

Why did the idiot filming this not move the torch, then there would be no fire to film.

@29649ron probably because they didn't know that it was the cause of the fire

Hmm. This video was filmed from a very interesting perspective. I love how you're calling 911 at the beginning.
Good job. Try filming another one like this(J/K, unless your lucky)
