FrisbeeHack; I suggest taking a new nylon scrubbing pad - that hasen't been used to scrub dishes or anything else - & polish the tops of the rails on the track sections for smoother running.
Keep that engine, thats a 225E and they can be worth around 200 to over 300 dollars depending on the condition! Its was built before WWII! I shure hope you take it apart and clean it and relube it. Hey if you decide you don't want it you can give it to me!! LOL! just joking.

You are right about that. before you even run them you should spray the engine down with "electrical cleaner" and then sparingly re-lubricate the locomotive . Then let it run by itself on a small oval track until the oil is worked back into the gears and axles.. This way you are restoring life back into your engine. Nice video
