  • Ricky Skaggs when he sang country the way country music should be! to bad he chose to do gospel and bluegrass, where is he now? performing on the opry every so often. thanks for posting this

  • brian is dis da one????

  • Honest to GOD, My Grandfather, James Author Pritchett (stage name Author Q Smith) wrote this song to my Granny, Lillian Pritchett. He wrote many a country song that he didn't get the proper credit for. Ricky Skaggs gave him proper recognition and my Mother, & aunts and uncles, still get royalties from this and other songs like Wedding Bells & I over looked an orchid. Hank Jr wrote a song about him on Pure Hank called Be Careful Who You Love (Author's Song). I have REAL country in my blood.

  • Hit #1 in Billboard, 3-19-83. God bless you, brother Ricky! He's 1 who didn't drop his r's when he sang. That's honest singin', if you ask me, right, gang?

  • Wow what country used to be like...We need more of this type music today...This new country has spilled over into our churches today...instead of singing from the hymnals we have this "new music' on our walls from a projector! The hymnals was what my parents and grandparents used and and it is good enough for me!

  • Ricky is real Country, make me want to dance!!! The fiddle is so good.

  • I have always liked Ricky and htis song is my favorite. Used to bring tears to my eyes.

  • yes this is country, not todays crap with these little slobbering girls , ever wonder why these guys like Haggard, Scaggs, Jones, Nelson, never show up at the CMA thats because it is no longer country, just bubblegum commandos, shame!!

  • Ricky is the best. I love all his songs very much.

  • I can't take a breath without Ricky music anyhow. This melody and harmony tell me:love and life is in God hands and mind! Take for medizin great Ricky's song and forget about death!

  • this is one of my all time favorites of rickys' Miss him

  • wonderful love song : words, music, voice, just every thing on it.

  • I haven't heard this song in years. Love it.

Thanks very much for posting it.

  • Record execs say it's "too, Country." I, for one, applaud Ricky for carrying on the true traditional country sound.

  • Love this song. Thanks for posting. Why don't we have country music like this anymore?

  • It's because the current crop of Nashville record company executives have absolutely no idea of what REAL country music is supposed to sound like.

Most of today's so-called "country" (which it really isn't) is nothing more than over-glorified bubblegum pop junk.

  • @jlgbgky I absolutly agree with you

  • @jlgbgky AMEN!!!!!!

  • @jlgbgky It's also consultants that think they know what country music fans want to here, it's destroying the music industry. I see it in local news where I work, they pay some idiot that call themselves experts that don't know or understand jack when it comes to solid news reporting. You see it in Country music also, some idiot thinks they know what sells and what doesn't, it boils down to pure stupidity - I love old country music because they did what they wanted to do,

  • @lilidoucet TALENT PURE AND SIMPLE. THEY DON'T HAVE HALF THE TALENT THAT RICKY DOES. RICKY FORGOT MORE THAN THEY WILL EVER KNOW.

  • @lilidoucet I just wrote this same comment on another Ricky video. :-)

  • Another great one by Ricky*****S Thank you!

  • wonderful music and lyrics. husband sang on my 60th birthday

  • This "perfect" song was composed by Jim Eanes in the early 50s. It is a good one.

  • This song was written by my Grandfather, the late great Arthur Q.Smith!!!!!!!

  • Really?? That's awesome.

  • 16 years ago when MY DARLING HUSBAND SANG THIS SONG 2 ME WHEN HE ASKED ME 2 MARRYU HIM!! EVEN THO HE'S NO RICKY SKAGGS,BUT THAT'S OK WITH ME BECAUSEI LOVE MY DARLING HUSNAD SOOOOO VERY MUCH!!

  • REAL country music at its best. I love this song. Thanks for posting.

  • I was lucky enough to meet Ricky during a visit to the Ryman Auditorium in 1996... a real gentleman! Have always loved his music and this song is perhaps my favorite!
